Good morning!!!!

Jay and Lou, very pretty icy wonderland. Which always breaks off small branches, or perhaps mother nature's pruning of dead stuff.
End of my property at end of lane flooded in same storm, about 8 inches of water over the drains put water a hundred feet up up my driveway,
with mandatory beer cans, plastic containers and cigarette cartons. All cleaned up now after hours of work. At least not mine.
By the time I got up, all the water had gone down, leaving clear residue lines on the white fenceposts.

Have some pics of greenhouse, blueberry muffins and instapot beef stew. Second time
more successful. Meat just fell apart and tender as can be.

storm winds blew over well pump wood box for first time. Not sure it's repairable, fair amount of rot. But I pushed it back over for now.
It has a power box on the back so trying to be gentle with it. Pump is broken, I use municipal water from street.

Good morning to all! Low was only 32, going up to 55. Winds gusted a few times last night, calm again this morning. Now forecast shows some snow by tomorrow morning, Mixed precipitation spotty showers in the afternoon, then more snow tomorrow night into Tuesday.

Nice ice /snow pics.... always pretty to see, not so nice if you have to go out in it.... keep ‘em comin....

Drew, the IP stew looks very tasty, the Blueberry muffins would be a fine desert.

David, nice progress on the carport. Did you get the metal ordered? Do they keep a good inventory there on the Island, or does it have to be shipped?

Middle son was here all day yesterday reassembling his truck’s 5 speed transmission. I got an in-depth lesson on how it works... for hours... :confused2:
He stayed last night and will put it back in the truck today. He amazes me with his knowledge / skill of vehicles.

I will get some tractor time today.... picking up the transmission and transfer case with some straps and moving it out of the garage and over to the truck. Not much seat time, but it’s still good!

I couldn’t do any work on the end tables because the transmission was in pieces all over the shop... and it would be too much dirt and debris from the woodworking getting all over and in the tranny. That’s ok... plenty of time this week.

I stumbled across something interesting this week.... one of the neighbors on our road has a weather station that is ”plugged in” to a site called “wunderground” , a network of weather stations all around the area. It is refreshed every 30 seconds, showing current conditions including solar info. It is really neat that you can go to other stations in the area and see the different microclimate changes.
Now I have to find out which neighbor has the setup.... only a possibility of two, so it shouldn’t be too hard...

Everyone have a great day! Stay warm, dry, and out of trouble!

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 8:30AM. Sunny. High around 65F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.

I use Wundergound all the time to get forecasts for places I'll be visiting, Ted. But you have to be careful, as the forecasts for any given weather station may come from a different location many miles, and thousands of feet, away, and may not accurately reflect what will happen at the station.

Looks, and I hope tastes, like you're getting the hang of that Instant Pot, Drew.:licking:

Some ingenious rigging went into putting that erector set together, David. But I don't think I'd feel very comfortable in your selection of safety footwear.

Lots of winter wonderland photos from the ice and snow storms, guys. Thanks for sharing, but hope you start to see more green than white in the landscape real soon!

Mr. Insomnia visited for most of last night, kind of dragging this morning. Might have to find time for a nap this afternoon...

Finished shoveling up the auger spoils, and cleaned up the generator pad cut a bit, too. Then unwrapped the generator to get a feel for where the electrical and propane connections will be made. And that led to laying out where the 10'x12' concrete pad for the generator will go, the routes the electrical and propane conduit/pipe will take, and where the penetrations for electrical and propane will be on the pad. Also took off a panel from the generator enclosure to reveal the propane flex line and all the documentation, an inch thick stack of paper. Of that, two sheets held most of the important installation information, including the propane input and circuit breaker locations. And that was about it for the day.

Still have one more branch of the electrical trench to lay out over to the solar panel rack, then I'll switch over to reviving the cement mixer. That'll probably involve putting the pallet forks back on the tractor so I can lift the mixer up and out of its hiding place. And while they're on there, I'll see if the FEL has the muscle to lift the generator pallet. Fingers crossed on that one!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Ron, Rick and Mostly, I do have a ZZ4 crate motor, but not sure what the home will be, I’m thinking pickup if the right one turns up.
Ellen is car shopping do that needs to get settled do I can concentrate on toys!
Beautiful sunny 48 right now, getting a meatloaf ready for dinner, then move some more old shingles from the woods to the holes I dug.

Went to visit mom, I can see her fading away.

Have a good day, prayers for all.

Tractor's plugged in and, hopefully with a bit warmer weather tomorrow, I can get everything functional...
??????..
Heater on timer or you throw switch hour or so before start up?

I normally plug it in about 2 hours before I head out (I keep it plugged into the tractor...just don't plug it in to the outlet). And, normally, I don't even need to hit the intake heater. This morning...well, even after two hours, the tractor didn't want to start so I had to use the intake heater (Deere's equivalent to glow plugs) and a fair amount of cranking before it did start.
Hydraulic chute still won't rotate even after heating it up yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's just ice...hope it isn't the motor.
It was -11 this morning so it's froze pretty solidly would be my guess but there's no ice around the rotation rack . It'll be above freezing Monday through Thursday, so I'll see how it does in a couple days. The chute is pretty clear now, but I'm kicking my *** for not spraying non-stick before I went out on Friday. That slush really did a job.
The drive and walks are still snow covered, but not too badly...at least it's not icy.

Drew, we put a few flower seeds in some seedling trays. One pack of columbine flowers said it was time to just sow them 1/4" deep. Not sure they'll do much down here in the heat. My daughter picked them out.

Food looks great! Hope your neck/spine pain gets a bit better daily.

Enjoying the photos and projects.

Prayers for all.

A mostly sunny early morning low of 8ºF, but the clouds started moving in and it started snowing as a weak warm front rolled through ahead of tonight’s/tomorrow’s weather event. It is presently 26ºF with intermittent snow flurries. Today’s high should reach around 30ºF. With luck I might see 3” without any transition to all rain with this next weather system. It should be an interesting week weather-wise around here with zonal flow and a couple of fronts moving through, but it seems that each frontal passage will be a mixed precipitation events.

Ted- I actually had my last personal weather station on the WeatherUnderground (before their acquisition by TWC(?)) station network until my station failed. :( I think Steve here is in their system.

Drew- The ice around here is still mostly holding on to the tree branches. I have had quite a bit of tree damage this year due to all the wind and icing events. Quite a few of my downed trees have snapped (midsection) trunks.

Low birdseed supplies necessitated a run to the “Big City” earlier today. My road was in 4WD condition leaving and returning today due to that 1” of surprise snow.

Lou- You did see our roadside power lines through the branches.. EverSource and Northeast Utilities have actually done a pretty decent job over the years keeping their lines clear from potential tree hazards. Our service line is underground. Our road is one of the few connecting roads between Cummington and Plainfield so our road gets a lot of attention from the contracted tree services.

It reads and looks like many here have major projects moving, great meals cooking, and really decent pictures taken.

I hope everyone's Sunday is going as planned.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

good visit with widow neighbor, she's holding it together pretty well.
She got home Friday afternoon after work, worried husband hadn't answered phone, they talked many times a day,
and found him in his easy chair, out, cold, and with their family dog curled up on his feet. And the family had known about possible heart issues for weeks, some family history, and they were told by doc that insurance didn't cover the test they asked for. One daughter is a nurse, they all feel guilty they didn't push him more and just pay for the test immediately themselves.

I bent her arm and got her to call an attorney she trusts to handle the estate. She had no idea what was involved and thought she had to go to court house.
I told her that was the best 1-2 grand she would ever spend to protect her interests since she is part owner in family farm, including multi-generational ownership.
She needs an attorney, even family does ugly stuff for money.

In middle of talking with her neck went into spasm and I had to get myself out of there and home to lie down. Came home and took a prednisone, will be ok in two or three hours. And I didn't do that much today...except for two trays of flowers, and some blueberry muffins.

Tomorrow my truck goes to body shop to get dings out, so I did make a trip to dump on way home since truck will be tied up for awhile. Truck only has 24k in five years, worth getting the dings fixed. I'll likely sell it after I sell the farm and stop hauling things in trailer. Then I'll get a smaller truck, maybe a used Ranger.
My trailer is only one ton anyway.

53 out now, 71 tomorrow, nice day, then rain and colder weather returning. Bit of a roller coaster, but that's normal.

Drew, you’re a good friend and knowledgeable source for your neighbor🤙🤙

Three rows of purlins and 1 row rat track installed significantly stabilizing structure. The bracing back to cottage will hold it true and then we can finish the purlins, rat track, and corner bracing then hundreds more screws in the slip joints.

No new pics, just nothing that notable.

As for the roof metal, that is coming from guy I bought my house material from. 12 ft lengths and some custom cuts. I could have ordered from local building supply that makes own roofing but at 2x the cost.
