If you have deer don't plant hostas for deer will eat even the roots while they destroy your flower garden.

Good evening all. 56F for the start, light rain, .2 inch in the rain gauge, and windy. Wind was brisk most of day, forecast rain has not shown up and High temp was 68. Cold front now through, low temp for day will be about 51F at midnight. Chapel to start day, make wife's breakfast, and prepped insert for cols weather. conserved energy most of the day, did get a nap in.
Eric hope you don't get any damage from wind. I utilize Nature's car wash every chance I get.
Ron the woodpeckers just want to be helpful. Put up some cedar lap siding and you will get plenty opportunity for photos. Ask me how I know

Well, it's been a nice week off and puts me more in the mind to retire...but it's time to go back to the grind...

When I get home this afternoon, I'll try to tractor...hopefully, the snow blower chute will rotate.

Good morning. Todays forecast is for wind to drop to not much more than 40mph.

Yesterday's wind was quite something. On my rounds to check on the livestock, I walked, or at least tried to walk, over the higher ground to stay clear of trees. The gusts on my back had me keep breaking into a jog to try and stay upright and on the way back it stopped me in my tracks several times. Not wonder a BA flight has taken the record for the shortest time from New York to London, 825 mph in a subsonic plane !

Ron, thanks for the garbage can free snow pic. There is a slim chance we may get some of our own in a day or two (err, I mean snow - we already have garbage cans )

Good morning, temp is 24ｰF and going to a high of 30. Wind NE 5 mph. Snow. About 4" of it.
There are 4" on the deck right now and it is still snowing.

The block heater is turned on and I will go out around 10 or so and clean up. That will burn up about 3 hours of my day and 2 gallons of fuel.

Plowing is the only thing on my plate for today. Tomorrow is a town run.

Foxes are extremely smart, but not house trainable. They 'go' wherever they want, even on your shag carpet.

Ted, I check the closest weather underground station every morning to compare temps and rainfall. There used to be one very close, but it stopped reporting.

Thomas, very healthy looking fox. I put some mouse traps out again in my shed last evening so if I find some this morning, will have some tasty morsels to take to our "Predator Butte" for the foxes/hawks. My mouse count so far is 13, but nothing like Eric's mole "neighborhood."

Did some target practice yesterday.

The deer here eat pansies like candy, I found if the outdoor cats poop in the raised beds, the deer leave them alone. Heck of a trade off though!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 34° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 33° with mostly cloudy skies. Got little over 1" of snow overnight. Walkways and dog run are already cleared. Did not get much done yesterday. Seems I spent way to much time on phone. Plan is to meet Irv for coffee today. Then Costco and Menard runs.
I did cleanup my trail cam pictures yesterday. Picture of bucks that visited earlier.


Thomas, great fox pic's. I have one Hostas plant that deer will not eat. Need to find out what it is and plant some more. Did a quick check. Maybe my plant is not a Hosta.

Eric, enough of the white stuff. I am ready for spring. Except forecast shows some single digit temps later this week.

LS, there are a couple of Wunderground weather stations close to me. One is less than 1/4 miles. My Lacrosse weather station has been very reliable and can be added to Wunderground site. But with one so close I decided to not do it. This one is about 3 miles from my place.

Mostly, Never thought about woodpeckers on cedar siding. My hip roof barn ends are done with cedar. Maybe that is why after 30 years the paint is peeling.:confused3:

good morning all. Up most of night with bad neck, had to start taking oxycodone to stop the pain. Next doc visit is this Friday, I emailed her and asked if she had an earlier opening. Don't like fuzzy feeling the pills give but no choice.

shaved off my beard this morning, smooth skin feels good.

David/Sodamo, you are amazingly productive. That garage will look good.

Good morning! 66˚F cloudy, little misty, a good day for mildew to grow more on my white landscape rock boarders. Wet days today and tomorrow.

Bird for reference it took 4 battery recharges and I emptied the lawnmower bag 20 times when I lowered the mower 2 notches to remove the old grass.

I did not watch the Oscars so the weekly morning thread awards go to:

David gets the most interesting continuing project award this week, speech, speech.

Thomas just barley beat out Ron on wildlife pics with the cute fox eating doughnuts.

The Ice tree pics by Lou and Jay tied for 1st place in the landscape scenery category.

Bird for reference it took 4 battery recharges and I emptied the lawnmower bag 20 times when I lowered the mower 2 notches to remove the old grass.

That's just about what I expect, although probably fewer battery recharges. Of course it's still too wet around here and more rain in the forecast for the next few days.
