Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 6:15AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
A few days ago there were weather warnings for today that included thunder storms. Today, they've disappeared and all we get are clouds. That's a good thing considering how dry everything is, and how many fires have been started by lightning in the past.
I think DMVs across the country are now requiring additional documentation due to the Real ID movement, all of it tied into airport security. I went through that a few weeks ago, and had to provide my birth certificate, driver's license (it doesn't expire until next year), Social Security card, and two utility bills to prove my address. The clerk photocopied everything, handed back my paperwork, took a check for $23, and two weeks later my new Real ID driver's license showed up in the mail. The DMV here did a pretty good job of providing instructions on their website, and thankfully they were accurate. The clerk I got acted like he'd never done one before, and had to talk to a couple other people when he got stuck. Kind of hard to believe, since this has been going on out here for a year or so...
It sounds un American that some company can pollute your groundwater unless you can provide proof that doing so is harmful. I'm no lawyer, but it doesn't seem fair that you'd have to pay for expert testimony, too, Don. Have you spoken to an attorney about this?
Nice breakfast at the little cafe in Oroville yesterday, but the ride got cut short when I found a quarter sized puddle of oil under the motorcycle afterwards. Got home, dug out the spare fork slider from the rafters, and had it swapped out by noon. About then I noticed an extra crush washer half trapped under the drain plug on the one I took off. Don't know how it got there, other than that spot is real hard to see... Took another look at the carbs and made an adjustment to needle height that should richen things up just a tad off idle, just where there's been a flat spot. Then found a split boot on one of the coil wires where it's been rubbing on the fuel tank. Shortened up the posts on the coil bracket to fix that, and am hoping that'll fix some electrical noise in the system. Probably safer, too, seeing as how sparks and gasoline don't mix so well outside the combustion chamber. The special plastic glue showed up on time, letting me attach the little brackets to the side covers. I found a small bungee cord that should work just perfect for connecting the two covers. Funny how I can find some things easily, and other stuff seems to disappear into thin air, never to be seen again. I'm still trying to find the instrument cover I made up for the VW, and I've spent hours looking all over for it...
I could only finish half of yesterday's burrito, so I'll have the rest this morning then go for that ride. Hopefully get back before it gets too hot, and then maybe catch up to that missed siesta.
Happy Hump Day, folks!
