Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #85,361
After enjoying a few hours of bright sunshine yesterday we are back to dull and wet today. I am still recovering from a cold donated by my wife and my legs are still reluctant to do more than a short walk, so am quite looking forward to a day working inside with occasional stops to feed the woodburner.

CWB, I am not familiar with block heaters and was surprised to see how many different types there are. Out of curiosity, what model are you using ?

Drew, Christmas carols in your cab - what a fitting way to start to get to know your new tractor

Poured first cup of coffee. 22ー with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 33ー with cloudy skies. Nice day yesterday. But chilly. Spent more time on phone getting final papers sorted out for end of year. Went mostly smooth except for having to spend more time on hold. Some places have the worst hold sounds. It may be music. But not to my ears. Makes me more irritated because I had to wait on hold. Haircut for me. Grooming for dog. Doctor appointment. That's enough for today.

Kyle, anymore I do not hold phone to my ear when at home. I use the speaker on phone.

Roy, glad Bella is going to OK.

Drew, like your tractor pictures. My 52" reverse tine tiller is the best. Except when it tries to bring up a 10" rock to the surface. I have learned to set depth at about 4" first pass. Then make another pass at a deeper depth. My tractor needs the bucket on and 4WD to pull the tiller forward. Looked up Jimmies. We called them chocolate sprinkles. :confused3:

Farmer, Prayers for you and your son that therapy works.

RNG, glad you are getting things back to normal. Worst place for out of date food is our 2 freezers. :ashamed: We have 2 pantries. I am sure there is stuff in them that needs to be thrown out. Check out a neti pot or a electric one for your head cold. Works wonders for me.

Don, maybe all you need is some pedals on that golf cart. Cheaper than batteries.

All those down south getting snow. Thanks for keeping down there. Got just enough up here to make it look like winter.

Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 30 going to 36 with a 90-60% chance of snow. Most surfaces are white, grass is still poking through pretty good. Calling for 1-2 in today. Nothing planed for today will see.

Farmer prayers for your son.

Prayers for all, have a great day. Ed

11F now might reach 30 for couple hours than head for another chilly night.

While sanding driveway yesterday afternoon 9 turkeys decided to help by scratching pecking the grit about  turkeys were rewarded w/pail bird seed.
Good news indeed for Bela...get some rest pup. :)
E muffin feed little critters slow roll to work.

Enjoy the day all.

33 high of 39 more base asphalt too windy for anything else and cold

Prayers for all

Wife put up Christmas Tree yesterday

Great news about Bella

RNG, I bet just standing in your house and looking around gives you a special feeling after all of the anxiety producing days of fire.

The only feeling I get right now is how much work it's gonna take to get the smoke smell out of the house. I might even have to call in professional help. Yes, it's better than coming home to a pile of ashes, but I wasn't counting on the breathing problems I'm having...

   / Good morning!!!! #85,367
33 and snow flurries, going to 39.

RNG, sorry about that smell. Try the ozone machine that Kyle (or was it Rick?) suggested along with your planned cleaning. I've seen them work wonders.

Roy, glad Bela is okay.

Thomas, cool story about your turkeys. Your place sounds like a real wildlife paradise.

Don, I had some time last night to look at your San Gabriel trail...looked really interesting. Georgetown must be a great town.

How is that bed holding up, Freedom?

Went to the gym yesterday while my wife hosted yoga and lunch at our house. Came home early afternoon and got back on the window trim project. Primed and painted the boards laying across sawhorses, but will wait until warmer to nail them up and caulk. Today will focus on firewood and paperwork.

If the weather is decent, I plan on practicing some pew pew pew, need to pick up some large targets and hang a wire also. I saw on the interweb someone had put up a wire between two posts and hung pop cans on it with small S hooks on the pull tabs.. I should be able to figure that out easy enough.

I looked up pew pew pew...is it a laser gun? Sounds like fun.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 3:45AM. Cloudy. Periods of light rain this morning. High near 50F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Woke up coughing and then started sneezing; I think I did too much yesterday and the cold has relapsed. That's a new one for me.

Glad things went well with the new tractor, Drew. No stiff neck this morning?

There have been turkey sightings in the neighborhood here after the fire, Thomas, and deer are already browsing the new sprouts in my upper meadow. Wonder how they evaded the flames.

Pulled the memory card from the game camera Monday, but the batteries had died before the fire hit so no new info to be had about when it swept through. Lots of pics/video of me at the BBQ, though.

Busy day yesterday: Blood draw first thing, but learned the hard way that the place I've been going to for years had moved, and the new one required use of local hospital's parking structure. The beams are so low inside that the antenna on the truck was dragging, and I kept ducking my head. Breakfast at Mom's was delicious, more than I could eat, too. Then a cluster f*** at BestBuy when I went to pick up the dryer for my friend. They eventually found it, but it took the better part of an hour. Installation went smoothly on the other end, but it was a tight squeeze. Thankfully, nobody got any pinched fingers. Dropped old dryer off at recyclers, but they wouldn't take the foam packaging. Not sure what to do with that, as my garbage can is full of spoiled food and trash service doesn't start back up 'till next Monday. Picked up one motorcycle and got it home; body shop neighbor that arranged storage was tweaked I didn't come at his lunch break so he wouldn't get in trouble with his boss, but I was told to come "anytime":confused2:. Got it home OK and back on the lift, hopefully to finish it up once the dust gets cleaned out of the house. Then back to town to pick up the other motorcycle, and ran errands until it was quitting time for my neighbor. Then one last stop at the post office to mail my property taxes before heading home. Unloaded bike in the dark, an interesting experience, but everything went OK. Pizza for dinner, and no heartburn for once. I'm thankful for the small things, and the big ones, too.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

22 and going to 32F. Wind E 6 mph. "Periods of snow". It is not snowing right now, but that will change.
They call for 2 cm. So I will translate that to 2" today, tonight and tomorrow.

I got the clevis I will adapt to the tractor. There will be NO more pulling from the three point. It will go on the frame work under the axle that the draw bar swings within. I may even get ambitious and put the draw bar back on.

There are some people up here that live on their boats year round. They set up a couple of bubblers at the bow and stern, put up frame work for plastic sheeting and heat the cabin. The marina I am in closes from thanksgiving to May 24th weekend. I can usually get onto the boat right after they set it back down in the water after ice out. Sometime around mid to late April.
If you were able to get an icebreaker into my marina you would need one that will go through 4-6' of ice. That is no problem you say, but the depth in the marina is only 7'. I am afraid your ice breaker would run aground before you ever got any ice broke.

According to 'weather underground', there is a little snow cloud headed directly for Toronto. Right now it is threatening Bay City, MI.
I don't know if they still have the policy or not, but back in the 80s, Toronto mandated that after any snow their roads would be clear of the snow within 24 hours. So the sheeple drive on the snow today, get dry roads for a couple of days and then bam, right back on snow covered roads. Over the couple of days on dry roads they forget how to drive on the snow.
Up here it is getting just as bad. I would rather have the roads snow covered from November to March. They would be smoother then.

Andrew, you could eliminate the bed frame and put the mattress directly on the floor. A few years of that and the kids might appreciate a bed frame.

You guys with kids that are having problems, I can sympathize with you. I raised two that were both ADHD. I can tell you from experience that Ritalin although it does slow them down is not the end all be all answer. Later in life they develop depression. Mine did anyway. He is 50 now and depressed, hears voices in his head and is the reason I cannot have guns in this house according to the goobermint. (I cannot get a gun license as long as there is someone living in the house that has been diagnosed mentally impaired [Bi-polar].) Drugs do keep him on a fairly even keel. His wife tells him when to take his dope.

daugen, I don't have the time in summer to go marina shopping, so I do it in winter. The marina I am in now charges me $3,700.oo/year plus winterizing another $700.oo. They want their money by May, but in winter I am cash strapped so I pay for the slip in the fall for the next year. They like that arrangement, but not enough to give me a break on the winterizing.

You guys have a good day

File a claim with your insurance company?

Pretty sure my deductible is $10,000, so not counting on much help from that direction. Better than no insurance at all, and the only option I could find. I'll read through the policy to make sure, though.

Don, maybe all you need is some pedals on that golf cart. Cheaper than batteries.

Ron, great idea! Now if I can find one with an EGO battery assist that Kyle suggested (for the up-hills) it would be perfect!

Good morning! 31˚ heading to 54˚.

Had a good day with Mom yesterday. brought her a purple soup for lunch and put up her christmas tree and decorations and heard the history behind the different unusual ornaments. Whipper was fine with staying in the garage with the sod grass but she still waited till we got home to go outside.

Got some old big outdoor Christmas lights from her that they have had for 50 years. I need to go through to see if I can hang them on my house without being a fire hazard.

Drew, thanks for the weekly tractor fix and the sky view pic from the seat.

No rain or snow in this part of Maryland until Sunday or Monday. Temps about 30 now, 40 later.

Kids having problems is the worst, prayers.

Have a good day guys, God bless.

Clouds cleared out. Temperature dropped to 16°. That means we will get some sun.

Good morning all.
39 going to 48 today, not very warm, for these parts...
Two big jobs today, planting a zillion little poppy seeds at the top of a field,
without ruining the headland I need for turning the tractor around.
Second will be loading up all that gardening stuff on my lawn and hauling it off to Master Gardener site.

There are two sunshades on my new Massey, one for the front windshield which comes down about a foot, adjustable, and then a black mask that covers the roof glass, not adjustable, on or off.

Wasn't able to log into cnn.com all day yesterday, on any browser. This morning it opens just fine. Bet their IT dept was having a terrible day yesterday. So I instead perused that denizen of accurate reporting, Fox News, and again felt like all the news is slanted, everyone has an axe to grind, CNN is as bad as Fox. I think the Wall Street Journal reporting is the most unbiased I can find.
Where does one go for unbiased news? News without the spin, or is that becoming an oxymoron?
The NY Times and Washington Post are considered liberal rags, of course one could watch the Russian news on RT.
The Russians and the Germans put out a lot of news.

Eric, England has the same us vs them party system that we in the US have, with different names.
Where do you go for accurate news?

Reading the Economist or something equally dense puts me to sleep...

For years I've been reading how Farmer and Kyle take care of their kids in their own way.
Those kids could not have better more loving parents. And even Ed with his "big" kid, lot of love
being shown here.

have a great day.

Drew, I find just about all news sources have a slant to them. So my choices are Fox and local TV station WXYZ. Beyond that I also read the local paper that comes out one time a week. I never watch news or weather on TV any more. When out driving I listen to WJR talk radio. Until Rush comes on. Then it’s a light rock station.

Farmer- You are welcome. I am happy to read that your school district is supportive of your son and the ABA training. Good luck. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers. Some school districts are not a supportive as yours. I'll save my rant for another day.

"Drew, nice pics from the tractor. 2 questions how dirty did it really get, can you rig a sun shade for the hot summer days?- Bruce "
We need proof and we like pictures.

Roy- I am happy to read that Bela is doing ok. Boxers are one of my favorite breeds.

Eric- Reads like a good action plan to me. I hope you shake your cold quickly.

RNG- I got tired just reading about yesterday's schedule of activities. I am happy to read that things for you at least are getting back to normal.

Bill- I agree about the Ritalin. It's not a miracle drug as some school districts believe. Life on a cyclical plan is the life of a person with a Bipolar Disorder as well as their family and friends. The medications work at great cost considering the side effects. And sadly the meds tend to limit the "highs" more than the "lows.'

"Kids having problems is the worst, prayers"- Randy I agree.

"I''ve been reading how Farmer and Kyle take care of their kids in their own way. Those kids could not have better more loving parents. And even Ed with his "big" kid, lot of love being shown here".- Drew I agree I wish that more parents were like Farmer, Kyle, and Ed.

Nice read here this morning. A great start to the morning. 13F here this AM. The wood stove feels really good this morning. The coffee is going down far too quickly.

Sprinkles are the round ones, jimmies are cylinder shaped.

Yup, that's my memory.
so did a kid named Jimmie have these named after him?
now that would be interesting to find out.

I always thought jimmies were the best, cool little chocolate cylinders and come to find out these
chocolate ones were regional. I wonder if Hershey had anything to do with that?

tiny multicolored sugar shapes, typically rods and balls, used for decorating cakes, ice cream, and other desserts; sprinkles.
(especially in the US Northeast) chocolate rod-shaped sprinkles.
