Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 4:00AM. Cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 48F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph.

Last time I saw that many pots in one place, Drew, was at the garden store. Last summer I was shopping for a bird bath, but none of the stores here carried one. If you hang onto the one you have, you'll be ahead of the game...

I hope those dealing with the weather, and that are under the weather, have a better time soon. But I guess all that's typical for December.

Woke up an hour ago coughing, not sure this cold is quite done with me, or maybe it's the slight smoke odor in the house. Feels like I've lapsed back into head cold mode with sneezing and runny nose, so maybe it's allergies. Probably means a thorough cleaning of all the rooms inside. Maybe it's finally time for new furniture in the great room, too?:confused2:

Took all day yesterday to clean the refrigerator; oh my gosh, it sure had a lot of parts to disassemble, clean, and put back. Thank goodness all the food fit in one medium sized cooler; I don't think the thing has been that empty or clean since I bought it. Cleaned up the water stains on the floor from the freezer section with a mild bleach solution, then mopped the kitchen and dining area. Lots of fun...

Got the annual physical Thursday, so I'll head in to town today for a blood draw, and see if I can get that dryer over to my buddy's house. Might even be able to bring a motorcycle or two home. Sure hope so.

Freedom Lives: I once ran out of fuel on a rented Diesel powered trencher. Couldn't get it started again until I took the fuel line leading to the injectors loose and poured fuel into it directly. That got the engine running long enough for the fuel pump to prime and take over. As I recall, I had to prime it a couple of times before it would stay running. I got into that trouble because the fuel gauge on the trencher was busted. The rental guy heard about that!

Was 33 earlier, and ice in the bird baths. Should see 49.

Ed, hope you get a nap and feel better.

RNG, I bet just standing in your house and looking around gives you a special feeling after all of the anxiety producing days of fire.

Started tearing off damaged window trim yesterday and cut new cedar to replace. Home Depot charged $10.69 for each 3/4" x 4" x 8ft board. Ouch. Will need to prime and nail up this afternoon. Not sure I'll get to the caulk stage.

9 with a high of 23F. Wind N 10 gusting to 18 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

I gotta go to Sundridge today and get me a big clevis. The other day when I pulled that Ford out of the ditch we hooked the tow rope onto the 3 point. I know, not very smart. That is why I will be getting a big clevis.
We gotta get some fresher greens and see the butcher again. Cat food is also on the list. I think the route will be drug store, butcher, equipment dealer, hardware store, grocery store and lottery store.

check, how deep is the water at your marina? Also how long are the covered slips at the marina?
the reason I am asking is that I am looking for a marina closer to home and hopefully cheaper than I am paying now.

Have a good day all

We have 2 marinas on Kawagama Lake (oldmillmarina.ca, and mthmarina.com). Both have lots of slippers that are, I am sure, plenty of deep. Not sure what he’s available these days, but you can contact them through the websites that I just gave you.

The marinas are just a short distance from the town of Dorset, and Old Mill has a site on Lake of Bays as well, right in the town of Dorset.

There is also my 50 foot long boathouse, which is 20 feet deep at the end, but that one is mine (LOL).

Good luck!

thanks Don. While of course not heavy weather rated, even though polycarbonate whisper thin, am guessing if wind hit 40mph it would all start bending. Frame is aluminum...so, already formulating plan to throw big tarp over it and stake that down if a storm comes. Or build some kind of temporary storm frame. Open to the North...other directions pretty well shielded but little tornadoes do occur. Nicely made in ****** with a gazillion parts.

Drew, how about securing the greenhouse with some sort of truck bed netting? That way you could leave it on for a week and the plants would still get light.

Admit to some chuckling to hear Canadians discussing their marinas. Would think there was a lot of pilothouse boats there,
as in with cabins and heaters. Very cool to be on the water when it's snowing in all ways. Makes line handling really interesting particularly when you send your wife out there...only did that once, boat parade, Sassafras River, off the Chesapeake.
And Check, you own a 50 foot boathouse? Oh what a delight. Boater heaven.

I'd like the job of running a mini icebreaker in a nice marina, any positions available?

normally a good idea but I can't let the wind through, will blow out the little panes of plastic, need a flat surface to deflect the air off, and maybe even snow, somewhat like a cold frame. If the structure itself was strong, netting would be perfect. But structure sure doesn't look strong to me and if one of the panes blow out the seedlings inside could be toast. So...best would be another layer of super heavy clear plastic, which I sure don't have. But I suppose could buy and wrap around a temporary frame. Keep those ideas coming, thanks.

Up that far in Canada, what’s the boating season, June thru August? You might get as much ice fishing in as boating ?

It's kind of cold this morning -8°. Yesterday was in the low 30's with some sun in the afternoon. We got more snow then I thought ended up using the tractor to move it. Today will be mostly sunny and in the high 20's.

I tested the block heater and it's bad again. I'm not sure what's going on with it. This will be the fourth or fifth one I have replaced in the last three years. I'm thinking I'm doing some thing wrong but I'm not sure what it could be. I'll pick one up when we go to town this week and try again.

Don't have any plans for today I'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Before I got into the big go fast boats, I had an Owens yacht, I was about 34. A friend and I decided to go to the bar on the Wicomico river in Mt Vernon, MD, from Salisbury where the boat was moored, on Christmas Eve. About a 17-18 mile voyage. It was about 30° and snowing with a real stiff NW wind. Leaving port was no problem in the protected narrow port area. We got underway and the more open the water, the bigger the swells. The boat was snapped in and I went down to light the gas heater, it belched out and singed my eyebrows. Undeterred I got a stiff shot of Southern Comfort and kept on our way. By the time we got there the swells were 4-5’, wind was over 30 knots, and we were half way through the Southern Comfort. I turned into the wind and tried to dock that big old thing in those conditions. After a couple of attempts a swell sent us right into the piling and bent the port bow rail right down to the deck. It was snowing so hard you couldn’t see a hundred yards. Good sense overcame the whiskey and we gave up and went home.

67°F and .94 inches rain. Too soon to know what the day will bring. Hoping for dryness to facilitate my project.

You sure all those pots were in that shed Drew? Hope they get great new homes.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning all, 38 now going to 44 with a 40% chance of snow tonight and Wed. Got 8 hr of sleep last night and went back and got a couple more this morning. Most sleep I have had in a long time. :)

Drew, I am told you can make a lot selling pot.

Prayers for all, Have a great day. Ed

Back continues to improve slowly.. my problem is not overuse, but under use. I don't get enough exercise and my weight shows it.

Cold weather moved back in, low 20s this morning, high might make low 30s.

My wife already gave me permission to go for a drive or hide in bedroom if I get tired of the whole gang during the holidays. All the kids/spouses and grandkids for Christmas day, then one daughter/SIL (local) go home to sleep in their own bed.. Oldest daughter/SIL and their 5 kids will be here longer, not sure how long...

If the weather is decent, I plan on practicing some pew pew pew, need to pick up some large targets and hang a wire also. I saw on the interweb someone had put up a wire between two posts and hung pop cans on it with small S hooks on the pull tabs.. I should be able to figure that out easy enough.

Internet is behaving nicely after ISP replaced antennae and radio a couple weeks ago.. back to what we have been paying for.

33°F and a light snow mix this morning, going up to 35° today. May be in the mid-40s tomorrow, but then low- to mid-30s for the next week. There was a light dusting on the ground when I left for work, but I drove through a couple of heavier areas where it was coming down pretty good. Snow is supposed to end by early afternoon.

No new mouse activity to report from the Smith house last night. Wife is treating Katniss like the queen she already thinks she is for being such a good mouser.

RNG, we cleaned out our old fridge last weekend when the new one arrived, and found some pretty sketchy stuff in there. I know at least one bottle of hot sauce had a 2015 expiration date. The occasional purge and clean is apparently not such a bad idea.

Nice-looking greenhouse, Drew. I'll be sure to NOT show that to The Wife.

I’ve discovered that both taking s nap and eating a cookie are viable options, just not at the same time! Chips Ahoy drool will stain your shirt and the dog doesn’t understand why you scream when you wake up with her licking your chin!
