hawkeye, if you are flush with money, then get some cans of cheap pop/soda. Do NOT open them, just hang them up and pew, pew away. They are more dramatic unopened.

Way back when I used to shoot the tin oil cans filled with water. You knew you hit the target at 100 yards when they exploded. I used a .303 on them.

Some good eulogies today for 41.
One of our visits with Don and his wife was to his library in Collage Station. Interesting visit.
5 years ago Don, Mike and I did the great grapple test.

Ron, great pic.

planted three foot wide row of red poppies first thing today for the garden club, will probably widen this to six feet, have way too many seeds left.
Need to go to the right to preserve headland; new tractor has wide turning circle, easy to box myself in, that's the top of the collards field.

I was trying to remember which year it was that we visited the Bush 41 Library.
Great memories.

Very impressed with the excellent coverage of Pres Bush and his passing. What a testament to a true man of courage and character. He will be missed for a long, long time.

President Bush will be missed, he was a decent man, in all respects. I don’t see anyone like him on the horizon. Very few people are willing to sacrifice for the job.

Thank you for the kind thoughts and words. My daughter has had many kids make fun of her, and she's hyper sensitive about it. Now, if kids are laughing in the background, she gets angry because she believes they are laughing at her (even if they are not). She likes being with adults. This makes school tough for her because of her sensitivity.

Those with children that need special attention are special. We also have several in our extended family. Each child has there own quirks and well as their special talents. Kyle's child is a great artist. This was in another TBN thread. Kaylee is 10 years old, autistic and has ADHD.

A very special little girl. I'm so happy her talent is recognized and developed.

Fully claimed until Alpha Female  shows up. Periodically throughout the day there are sofa turf challenges. Beds are a "no no" while we are home. ;)

I was just about to ask....My Golden would jump off the couch as he heard the garage door opener open the door. I could feel the warm spot and see hair. Evidence leading to some stern words and pointing a finger at him. It felt to him the same as if it was a lead pipe beating.

Tomorrow, there will be the largest NAVY squadron of F 18's doing a missing man flyover during Bush's internment (21). I hope they buzz the town too. My work is about 3-4 miles as the crow flies away. I watched his son eulogize his dad. I got misty eyed at the end.
Unprecedented 21-aircraft flyover planned Thursday over College Station

Looking4new, I hope the best for your son. I'm sure those lakes are gorgeous when thawed. I don't like to swim in water unless it's at least 82F water temp.

There are no news stations that aren't biased. Many are horrible. They are playing to an audience and trying to out do each other to win such audience. CNN/MSNBC have some of the best at playing the audience. The "View" is "from only one point of view". I listen to the Michael Berry radio show quite a bit.

Good evening all. 28F for the start, mostly clear, calm wind. Moderate wind today, clear sky until late in the day, and high temp was 54F. Got some paperwork done then on to the bike ride. Back on the van, got the last two spark plugs removed, regapped and replaced. Initial startup was fine, replaced the dog house and took it for short test drive and no codes, engine ran smooth.
Prayers for all.

Although a dry day, not dry enough to tractor without making a mess. Still good enough that I got the forms in the area of previous picture. Still need to remove more material from interior. Hopefully, more progress tomorrow.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 28° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with some snow flurries in morning. No accumulation. Listened to the eulogies while traveling around to my various stops yesterday. Very inspirational. This morning is that doctor appointment I have been waiting 8 weeks for. No other plans.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

25 with a high of 28F. Wind S 14 mph. Snow now and in the forecast for all day.

I will go out and plow about 9 A.M. The tractor is 'plugged in' now.

I gotta take the DIL to the Dr.s in town today and back down to Sundridge for some more Christmas stuff. The food store down there has turkeys on sale for $1.39/pound. Can't beat that price. They also have bacon on sale. We will stock up.

I've got my big clevis. I will put that on while the tractor is warming up.

We are hard pressed to get natural lakes to warm up much above 80F during the summer.

What is really neat is to see the small communities that develop on the lakes when the ice is thick enough. Down on Lake Simcoe the ice some winters gets thick enough to drive your car/truck from one side to the other. I say 'some' winters and that means that the temps need to be near zero F for a month or more with not much snow. The locals know how thick the ice is and whether or not it is safe enough to drive on. As far as I am concerned, even if the ice is 10' thick you will NOT catch me on it in my vehicle.
4' of blue ice is good enough for a small car, only IF you don't care about the car. Remember that you don't have any insurance after you cross from shore out onto the ice.

Have a good day all

Good morning! 50˚ cloudy.

The refurbishing of Dad's strings of outdoor C-9 Christmas lights went South quickly when they popped and blew my breaker. Corrosion and brittle plastic doomed the project. Today I'll take the little white crumbling lights off the his wire star and put a LED wire rope on it and hang it above the garage.

Last night we went to the neighborhood Singers Club Christmas concert. Their club has 250 members. They have talent - especially the 4 pianists who played the dueling bells of Christmas simultaneously. The Sleigh Ride song was interesting also with a trumpet player making the sounds of a whinnying horse and an 80 year old cracking a whip for the sound effects. (Not a real whip - two flexible pieces of wood slung in a downward motion to clap hard together to make a loud pop.) The drummer had some sort of wooded discs that duplicated the clopping of a horse trot on a cobblestone road.

Tomorrow we are under a flash food warning with 3-6" of rain expected.

Remember that you don't have any insurance after you cross from shore out onto the ice.

fascinating, taught every word of the auto insurance policy in training center in Hartford CT for Travelers, and there never was a clause
for driving on ice, other than a general catch-all for not taking reasonable care to protect your property, and clearly local underwriters do
not consider driving on ice reasonable. Unless it's an intentional act of destruction, comprehensive coverage on car is pretty broad.
Plus it usually includes floods, so...perhaps it's just a moving flood...;)

Youtube is full of videos of guys wrecking their trucks in the ocean or the boat ramp.
I agree, if you can't afford to lose it, don't go out on the ice. That includes your life...
Though a lot of ice fisherman would disagree. Have to tell you, just can't imagine that being fun, but
for some it's that or no dinner.

Anyone have any ice fishing tales?
