If the vessel has twin screws, they probably reverse one to make the bend...another possibility bow and stern thrusters...bow thrusters are normally used when docking, but a with combination of bow and stern thrusters, the vessel could easily make that turn.

That's good to know. I'm more familiar with the lower Chesapeake Bay and Norfolk harbor...they don't even let the ships come into the Chesapeake Bay without a Harbor Pilot, and then tugboats when they get into the harbor area...too many tunnel islands, bridges, shoals, and other craft.

Mostly the bike is steel framed and as pictured weighs 23 lbs. IMG_2174.JPG

Good morning! 70s to 100s today, dentist trip for new crown and then neighborhood CW concert tonight on the lake in the amphitheater. Need to squeeze in a bike ride somewhere. Ron with 100 psi in the tires, I’m just glad the roads are very smooth here. I need to join the club to get some drafting going, the wind at these speeds is like a mountain.

A lot of large yachts and small cruise ships use jet drives and they can be turned a lot tighter than traditional stern drive/rudder combos.

104 degrees yesterday, so I got up and started mowing the yards at 4 a.m. this morning while it was only 78 degrees, but supposed to go to 106 today.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High 104F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Nice bike, Don. In my youth, 23 lbs. was just about as light as you could get on an expensive racing ten speed. Funny how people get into bicycling for the exercise, then spend a fortune trying to make it easier by getting the lightest bike they can find.

I used to buy a lot of clothing from Performance, a cycling chain store with a large web presence. They have frequent sales, and though the clothing isn稚 particularly stylish, it is made well and is fairly comfortable. I壇 stick with a name brand for a helmet, though, and read the reviews to make sure it ventilates well and offers the best in crash protection.

Sitting here in bed with the sliding door open, I can hear the hummingbirds at the feeder, and also a mountain lion out there somewhere looking for something to eat. They make a low moaning kind of sound, the sort you致e heard African lions make when theyæ±*e laying round. Have yet to see one, other than the tracks, and thatç—´ just fine with me.

Dug out the short block for the BMW I知 rebuilding yesterday, and wow is it filthy! Also pretty badly corroded, and even scrubbing with stainless steel wire brushes and mag wheel cleaner (contains several unhealthy acids) isn稚 cleaning it up. Any suggestions on how to get those little black flecks off would be appreciated. Also found the 1000cc barrels and heads I致e been saving for the project, in a box that hasn稚 been opened for several years. I should probably look in there today and make sure of what痴 in there.:confused2: I致e found that seeing the box and knowing what痴 inside are often two different things.

About 10PM last night the windows started rattling and I almost thought we were having another earthquake. But the floor wasn稚 moving, and the sound kept getting louder before it started fading away. Didn稚 sound like any airplane or helicopter I致e ever heard, and quite a few people in the area heard it as well judging from the Facebook posts this morning. I tried finding an app or web site with data on past flights but was unsuccessful. Anybody know of one?

Happy Hump Day, gang.

It looks like a low of 47* this morning. Today is going to be in the low 90's and sunny with some wind.

We got back from SLC in the afternoon yesterday. The wife wanted a window mounted A/C. So we pick one up and put it in after we got back, we'll see how it works today. Also picked up some things for the trailer.

Making a trip to town for her therapy and some shopping today. I'll see what I can get done around here after we get back.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

68°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 86° today.

At work, our Project Manager / Tool Maker / Setup Man is on vacation for a couple of weeks. In his absence, it seems everyone has forgotten how to do anything for themselves. The Quality Manager stepped in to save the day. Nothing particularly difficult, just setting up a coping operation on one of the mills and a cold saw cutting operation in another area, but I did end up wearing a little more grease home yesterday than normal. Sometimes it's actually fun to do something completely different for a change. I generally try to steer clear of such things in order to avoid the new expectations trap. However, it was far more painful to watch a guy about to butcher a mill vise than it was to just do the setup myself.

Shhh ... don't tell my boss I did it.

A new phenonena for me here in the Texas hill country.

Yesterday's temp was about 100F but the "feels like" temp was about 93F due to only 26% humidity. Not too bad in the shade with an breeze.

It is amazing watching the youth grow in their spirituality. The scenery is stunning.

Prayers for all.

Listening to the news last night, Washington state has had more than 200 wildfires this year so far and 80% are caused by humans. We have one burning locally (perhaps 5 miles away).. They had 6 planes dumping water, helicopter dumping water and a large plane dumping fire retardant. Was zero percent contained last night, had grown from 0 to 200 acres in a few hours with level 3 evacuations for nearby area. I did see some evacuation orders were reduced to level 2 late last night. Lots of smoke in air this morning, have not seen the news on fire status yet.

I was mowing last night after it cooled down from 98F to high 80s. Low humidity and light breeze were a blessing. I mowed the "big hill" mostly last night, still have a bit to go. We never mowed it before we got the Kubota, too steep, but the Kubota handles it ok. There are several spots where all 4 wheels are spinning going up, and some sliding going down. I should be able to finish it after work tonight.

Update: fire line completely around fire, 115 acres, 3 homes under level 3 evacuation.. they still say zero percent contained though. I am guessing that the fire lines are there, but may not hold if winds increase..

update #2:
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

We've had a lot of questions about what firefighters are talking about when they say that the fire is 100 percent lined, but that the Upriver-Beacon fire is 0% contained.

Here's the gist, according to firefighters: Containment is essentially their faith in the strength of the fire line. So when they say there is a line around 100 percent of the fire, but 0 percent containment, it means they are concerned that the fire could jump the line.

Firefighters work to strengthen the fire line over time, which is where the containment percentage comes in. So once the fire line is strengthened around 10 percent of the fire, that fire is now 10 percent contained.

Getting a line around the fire is a big part of the battle, and containment should quickly follow. That's the hope they have for Wednesday. Firefighters on the front lines of the Upriver Beacon fire plan to strengthen fire lines by using bulldozers along with multiple hand crews. Helicopters and aircraft are also making water drops on the fire from above. There are currently 150 firefighters working to increase the fire's containment

At last report the fire was 115 acres in size.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

71°F and 1.16 inches rain

Be safe
Have a great day

Rained heavily all around us, we got about .06. We need a lot more than that. Oh well, the grass isn’t growing much at least.
Got my 6 year old grandson today, we took the dog walking, then went to the zoo and playground, then had the preferred McDonalds lunch.
Prayers and good wishes.

Careful, or that Project Manager / Tool Maker / Setup Man will be taking your place next time you go on vacation, and he may not want to give it back!

Just think of the Conflict of Interest headaches what your "help" would give to management if they found out...:D:laughing:

Seriously, though, I've always found far more satisfaction in things I made with my hands than in things I did with my head. I bet you feel the same way, PJ...

I've seen complaints before on TBN about FedEx and UPS, so I thought I'd throw in a new comment. My wife takes some pretty expensive medications for her advanced COPD. Those medicines come via FedEx from a supplier in Murray, KY. I just happened to be in the kitchen a few minutes ago, heard a truck accelerate, looked out the window, and saw a FedEx truck taking off. No one had knocked, rang the door bell, etc. So I went to the front door, and sure enough he had dropped the box by the front door. I checked and found that our doorbell is in working order, as always. The box with these 2 medications is clearly labelled with a bright red label and black printing "REFRIGERATE On Arrival." The current temperature in the shade is 101 degrees. If I hadn't been in the kitchen at the time, we probably would not have found these medicines until after noon tomorrow.

I can add Amazon Delivery Service to the list of bad delivery service people. UPS and USPS are the best in my area.
We require expensive meds get a signature.

I guess "expensive" is a relative term, but she gets a month supply at a time of Budesonide and Brovana and the total is $920.59. So it's expensive enough that I'm surprised that no signature is required. And of course, I don't really know how critical it is to refrigerate these two, even though they are labelled to do so, and my wife does put them in the refrigerator when they arrive.

Wife’s Jakafi is over $12k per month. No way I would allow any delivery service not require a signature. Best about the drug is it has worked for her.

88 for the high. Was 65 this morning. Next rain chance is Friday. Forecast is for severe weather.

Got my new CPAP machine. I resisted it as long as I could. But when you quit breathing during surgery and recovery it’s hard to get out of doing sleep studies. Test showed I was stopping breathing 65 times an hour. 30 is severe. My wife said I had to quit being an over achiever. Surprised the mask is as comfortable as it was during the fitting.

Audit went well and glad to here Roy’s did as well. I didn’t get a post audit visit nor a phone call so that’s good.

Hay is all baled. Should have enough for winter without a fall cut.

Hauled calves Monday they weighted good but don’t know how they sold yet. Should by Friday. On way home I had a plastic fitting fail between the heater core and heater hose. Had to have family haul it into the house. Then I bypassed the core with a hose splice and drove it to the mechanic this morning. He installed new fittings and hoses this morning. Had to have special tools to change the fittings.

Now that that truck has left me on the side of the road. The wife is really on my case about me buying a new truck. She’s been offering for over a year. Looking like a new Ram 2500 diesel is in my future. Although I’m still trying to find a Chevy 2500 diesel. Just all those around here are high option trucks. I want a work truck.

Drove past the corvette museum twice Monday. It’s between the house and the stockyards. Y’all should really watch the videos of the collapse and rebuild if you haven’t already. That whole area is sinkhole country. All tied into the Mammoth Cave system. I live on different soils. No sinkholes unless a mine shaft collapses.

Buppies. Good luck with your treatment.

Had another 1/2" of rain yesterday (lured the clouds with the welder this time ;)). Magic rain, already the fields are turning from golden brown back to green.
Still need to run by tractor supply, (you see I got a tractor mention in my post!) and get some dancing boots. All I have are well used work or snake boots. The wife is going to owe me on taking this class with her.

Good luck with matters-of-the-heart balance sheets. I try hard (sometimes), yet always seem to end up in deficit :confused3:

Truer words were never spoken.

But when it comes to "matters of the heart" there is never a deficit.
After 34 years and 7 anniversaries SWMBO always wins with a smile. And then she let's me have my way.

Call and complain!!
I've posted several times on TBN about the "toss and forget" delivery method. What is even worse is the "left in the mailroom" and "gave to the secretary" when I have neither.
