Rick I want that fire truck “A”.

DAY 3
The big game is about to start. No not the Super bowl, the don vs stump game. Start heating up the popcorn pots.

Yep, that Super A pumper is pretty cool!

Popcorn? I’m switching to queso and chips ...... or something equally healthy.

My wife walked out once when the stump was out of the hole and the tractor was in the hole. She inquired was the tractor suppose to be in there. I assured her it was standard procedures when removing stumps. IMG_1397.JPG

Thanks for providing the motivation guys to get-ER-done.

Yes just like that famous soap

   / Good morning!!!! #69,945
Don, I’m going to go ahead and unload the big tractor then.

Way to stick to it!

Good evening all. 46F for the start, some scattered clouds, light breeze. 62F for the high temp, had frontal passage mid afternoon when it got breezy, stayed mostly sunny. Went to Chapel, and did substitute dash, home about 11. Put light fixture back together with the new bulbs, man is it bright!!

Don, congrats on a job well done!!

Ed good luck with working out your Mom situation, wife got poison ivy in blood stream, had to do Prednisone course, say she will never so that again.

Kyle good luck with the wife now, it will 20 degrees colder tomorrow morning than this morning which won't help.

30 right now...and that's about where it's going to stay today. Looks like 6 inches accumulation from last night. I'll get that when I get home this afternoon.

40 degrees going to 50 today, missing all of Roy's "fun". 60 tomorrow.
If all the rain I'm getting in the next week is snow for the North, look out above...lots of precip coming.

up early for no reason, enjoying some coffee from Ethiopia. On sale for $5.39 a pound at Food Lion. Has a little bit more "chaff" in it but decent coffee. My challenge is learning to use half as much sugar/Splenda mix per cup. Trying to get down to half a teaspoon from one teaspoon.
Am a bit nervous of my annual labs next week. Looking for a 2 digit number, not a three, and will ask for AIC reading.

I'm going to be a bit annoyed if my Super A doesn't show up today...They are also bringing back my pull behind tiller with its new engine.
For sure going to work harder not to blow this one up...

And I don't care how muddy it is out there, I'm headed, after filling up the gas tank (newly relined:thumbsup:), out to drop those hillers and see if I can make a beginners' hump, a newbie hump for my little onions. Onions and cabbages first on the list. Thankfully this garden area is on maybe a one degree slope (a mountain here! ;)) so the drainage in most of the area is good.

Don, what a wonderful stump story. Shows just what persistence will accomplish. And a good tractor of course.

Farmer must be really busy, all his chicks are in.
Hey Farmer, how about a pic of you next to your chicks?
All those chicks, maybe some babes in there....:D

Good morning all, 36 now with a high of 36 and mostly sunny. We got about 2" of snow/sleet, the biggest of the winter and almost 1" of water in the rain gauge. Needed that, it's dry. Got to take mom to a Dr. app. today and go over to a local rest home an see what we can do. Both wife and I have the tummy thing, not throwing up but very close, it just keeps hanging on. Think the boy might too but he doesn't talk so hard to tell.

Prayers sent, have a great day. Ed

Ed, you have your hands full and you don't feel well, a challenging combo. All of us wish you the best today.
Just take it slow...prayers for you too.

Good morning. With temperatures going back below freezing I was expecting it to be white over here this morning. Hardly a sign though of frost, the wind must be sucking away the usual ice crystals.

I'm surprised how frequently oil and filter changes are needed in cars that live on the other side of the pond and wonder if much of it is to do with market expectations? Nowadays many people here would think a gas vehicle that couldn't manage to wait for a year or at least 10,000 miles before needing a service had an inferior engine. I doubt the engines are very different, the manufacturers are probably giving us all what they think we want.

Vehicle software is turning out to require more frequent attention. My wife has taken her Toyota to the garage this morning for it's second safety recall in less than two weeks. The last time it turned out to be a flash update for brake position sensing. Not that she minds too much, she told me not to worry if she's not back for a few hours as an otherwise distant garden centre will be included in the trip.

Ed, you and your wife already had your hands full. I'm sure you feel a little sad that you can't also cope with your mom in your house, but you two were brave enough to give it a try, which is more than many of us would have done.

31 and rain finally stopped. Going to 42. More rain and ice on tap for Wednesday.

Glad I cut firewood Saturday morning while the ground was frozen, because it's super soggy out there now.

Prayers for your family, Ed, and for yours, Kyle.

Randy, glad you got some time on your new tractor.

Eric, our vehicles call for 10K oil changes, too, but old habits are hard to break...especially in the early break in period.

....Heard 5-8" snow coming Wednesday.

Seems like the prediction for Wednesday is alternating from 5-8 inches to 8-12 inches....I reckon we'll see what we end up with on Wednesday/Thursday. Looks like February is going to be a snowy month!

No coffee this morning. +1° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 22° with cloudy skies. Snowed about 6" yesterday along with wind to make some drifts. Already plowed the snow this morning. Off to hospital for Stress Test. Then back home for some coffee and food.
Kyle and Ed, prayers for you and your families.
Prayers for those not feeling up to par.
Good Morning All.

Good morning! 40˚ heading to the 50s. It's colder today, I finished the stump just in time during a warm spell. Now I have some boring maintenance projects to take out. One of the hydraulic cylinders is leaking on the Kubota FEL so I'll get seals but in bot sides. it's the cylinders closest to the seat. It was leaking before the stump project but not noticed. Now I know what that spot of oil was in the tractor shed.

Ron, did we get both front FEL cylinders resealed or just one. I think I took one in with you and one by myself, I should write these things down. Any way I'm pretty sure after these two get resealed then they all have been resealed.

Also during that 13˚ morning the Subaru windshield washer froze and a connector piece of plastic cracked and now instead of washing the windshield I wash the hood. The dealership says that it put in 0˚ coolant, if they did then the plastic is no good that only last 4 years.

Ed remember what the flight attendant says when giving instructions on the oxygen mask - Fist put your mask on and after yours is secure then help the people around you. It's not selfish, just a common sense thing that most caring people forget.

Drew I want to see a that "A" in action making a hill.
If you are looking for a fabric (red and white) top umbrella for that "A" with a metal frame, I know of one that can be had for shipping cost only. If interested I can assemble it and take a pic. I think I only used it once, It spins on windy days and I didn't want to take it on and off to get into the garage, but you have a taller ceiling if you are storing it in the RV spot. I forgot about it when I sold my "A" and I saw it in the rafters of the tractor shed the other day and thought about you. (Something like this - http://kimballstock.com/pix/TRA/01/TRA_01_RK0064_01_T.JPG ) It works best around noon, earlier or later the sun hits you on the sides.

Kyle when Karen got the flu I got it 3 days later, Tamiflu did not prevent it but I did get over it before she did.

Ed, I’m praying for you, I know that situation well. My wife’s mom lived with us for a few years before going to assisted living. So when it came time to bring my mom here in 2014 my wife never hesitated. Her natural instinct as an RN then MD, just took over. She kept me on an even keel. And even once it got so we couldn’t leave mom alone this past June, Lynn never wavered as tough as it was. When mom went to the nursing home Lynn worried about her. But saying all that, we enjoyed our new found freedom, even if we only got three months.
Everyone has a different situation and you guys have the double whammy trying to care for two. God will guide you.

Temps dropped from 50s to 30s overnight. Staying cold and windy today. Temps up and down for a while.
Prayers for you guys, have a good day.
