Good morning!!!!

PJ pics are great, what's next :D

Thanks, mostly. We still have some trim work to do around windows and doors, some doors to paint, and base boards for the basement. We've decided to hold off on that until Spring, sort of giving ourselves a little break through the holidays. After that, the big tasks for next year so far are to rebuild the well house, new electric and water lines to the barn, and a concrete floor in the barn (currently dirt). We also need to decide if we want to expand the pasture into the small field or leave it as is. Either way, there will be new fencing erected out there. She wants goats.

PJS, very nice. I thought it would be cool to have a room like a Benigans or Chilis pub with all sorts of playable but not expensive instruments on the walls . The kind you don't mind the kids getting down and playing with.....What is that contraption under the Ninja print? I have a guess, but don't want to embarrass myself.

Thanks, Kyle. I'm planning on hanging some of my electric instruments on the walls in the studio, but not for child's play. I have 4 guitars and 3 basses that need to go somewhere (more than that, actually, but those are the one's I'll use most in there).
The contraption is my Wife's quilting machine. It's quite the impressive piece of equipment. It's essentially a large frame to support the head (machine) and provide rails for it to glide along while stitching. It's very heavy, but when properly aligned, a wisp of breath can start it moving.
To the right of that is the treadmill. Not yet moved in there are the Bowflex X2 and elliptical machine.

PJS your home is looking very cozy, I like the violins on the wall. It looks like both of you have your personal music space. Does your Mrs. PJS ever play the keyboard in you band?

Thanks, Don. It's not a grand palace by any means, but we like it. Just a simple one-story ranch with a walkout basement. More than enough for us. The violins and violas on the wall belong to both of us. Most are hers, with the large viola and violin on the right being mine. She only plays for her own gratification. She did give piano lessons for a few years, but eventually stopped that as well. She says she has no desire to play in public. She did some public recitals several years ago, but didn't enjoy it at all ... completely unlike me, who loves being on a stage making live music for people.

The low this morning has been 27* so far. We didn't get the wind yesterday but the high temperature only got up to 34*, and was overcast all day. Today's going to be in the low 50's. With the wind 15-20 mph and more sun.

Played with the welder yesterday and put some stuff back where it belongs. Ended up working on a toilet that didn't what to stop running.

No big plans for today.

We don't get any kids trick or treating here. All the neighbors we have are older couples and are few and far between.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

The only trick-or-treaters we've ever gotten at our place was her cousins bringing their kids by when her Grandmother was still alive. Like most here, houses are too far apart where we live for any real t-or-t traffic. We always buy candy ... just in case ... and always end up taking most of it to work to get rid of it.

71°F and .61 inches rain last 24 hours.

Got some mowing done, continue today.

Lots of interesting projects going on here. Some of you guys are just inspirational. Great pics

Roy, that just plain sux.

Sure hope for quick recovery from the various aches, pains, illnesses being reported.

Getting anxious to see all that new red paint, Drew.

Congrats on the inspection Ed. You and wife are great examples of right hearted folk.

Be safe
Have a great day

Trick or Treat

Good morning. A little warmer today, yesterday it peaked at 8C/48F, although when I check a sheltered spot that was in the sun, the metal I was wanting to paint nicely made it up to 22C/72F, which was plenty for rattle can spraying.

RNG, I am slow at hedge laying and very much a novice too. A few people have helped kept this old craft alive by turning it into a sort of country sport, where their skills produce a living artwork and each person's short section is judged at the end of a day's competition. This is typical of one of the events close to where I live Cheshire Hedgecutting 28 - YouTube

Alas my efforts don't come anywhere near their levels. Despite the thorns it is something I enjoy doing and find very satisfying. Laying makes a hedge that is dense and "warm" close to the ground, which provides good shelter for livestock and for wildlife too. Fortunately hawthorn and most of the other plants in hedges are very forgiving, so with a bit of luck many may survive my rough treatment.

This black and white 1940's "public information" film is one I always find fascinating to watch. Hedging (1942) - YouTube I have the same tools but unfortunately not his skill - nor a landgirl helper.

Thanks for sharing those, Eric. Not only did I enjoy watching but very informative.

Happy Halloween, may everything today be a treat for you all.
Lot of sugared up kids running around...

am sore from bending over a gazillion times yesterday. Which of course means the landscaper helper calls after I was done saying he'd be here today.
And when he is here, I need him for all kinds of "can't do this by myself" jobs, so today will be busy. First starting off by powerwashing the rv, gently, and then winterizing my good
powerwasher. And then I'm putting my small phd on the back of the little Massey and I'm going to dig holes for a few final border trees. The good news is I cleaned out all the nasty
briars along the treeline; the bad news is I can now see through the tree line and vice versa. Am looking for evergreens and large hosta.

This was my second load of storm cleanup junk in a few days. In between I painted the rear of the tractor, which thankfully came out fine. But the front, oh the front is so ugly
in its wrinkled surface. So tomorrow, when it's supposed to be 75 and sunny, yeah, I'm going to paint the front again now to match the rear paint. Hopefully the oem paint will happily go over the Rustoleum paint I had underneath. Which clearly did not go happily at all. And I will clean up all my red overspray. Some of it isn't likely to come off so I need to do some touchup.
I did manage to get quite a bit off using a rag and the no smell gentle version of paint thinner. But some of the old porous plastic surface sucked up that red paint like a thirsty man in a desert,
and isn't giving it back up.

these pics are backwards in time

Sure looks good from here, Drew

Never had any trick or treaters here, understandable. Strangely we had very few where we lived in Atlanta. Houses definitely close enough, but only 2 kids in the neighborhood, both too young.

Don, you are about the fourth Texan I know of that’s already had the flu! The others are in the Houston area. Did you get your flu shot? Hope you get well quick. I got the shot last year and caught the flu anyway in February, took about six weeks to get all the way back.

I’m past the sick stomach part but still weak as a baby. So far nobody else has it. Can’t do much, but Check the want ads. Cool today but warmer later this week.

Your hope to get well quick worked. I'm back to normal, almost - a 3 day flu/cold/whatever. (Wife says it was not the flu, not long enough) First day sinus and ache, second day high fever 102˚ very sick, coughing, sore throat, (never any stomach problems), third day today, little lingering cough, no fever feeling ok was clearing trails today. I was going to get the flu shot but then my Dad died and I forgot. Did the other Texans get a flu shot? My wife got the flu shot and she did not get sick.

I had some ZICAM and started using it every 5 hours starting Sunday morning. It says on the box that it shortens colds - I believe it.
