63F and partly cloudy @ 10:00, high today of 74F, which for the beginning of August is a blessing indeed. We aren't supposed to hit the 80's again until next Wednesday, and then it will only be high 70's/low 80's through the Monday after next.
It rained pretty good yesterday morning and then a big thunderstorm came through yesterday afternoon and dumped some more ... total of around 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch for the day. Winds were pretty crazy with 40 - 50 mph gusts. Doppler-indicated tornado warning issued last night for just southeast of Canton. Rain chances low until this coming Monday.
Didn't get a whole lot done yesterday ... some clean up in the garage, a little sanding done on a side panel (one of six) on the big dump cart, but I did manage to complete the sanding on the handles for the pitchfork and the square nose shovel. Now I just need to put a finish on them ... thinking about using boiled linseed oil, which will be the first time I've tried that.
Winds are supposed to be calmer tomorrow, although they appear to be pretty calm right now ... so will probably hold off on any spraying until then.
Will probably remove the MMM on the Kubota and put the loader, pallet forks and boxblade back on today ... then pull the soil screen frame out of the shop and flip it over so I don't have to overhead weld the other side.
Now that we've had some rain, it might be a good day to do a little digging on that surface drain line at the northeast corner of the polebarn to see if I can fix it's slope so that it will drain and not have standing water in it (mosquito heaven)
I have a bunch of 1/2" or 3/4" thick styro insulation panels that I need to attach to the skirt boards on the outside of the barn, along with some 5' wide 6 mil visqueen that I need to put down to keep the ground drier around the outside. Can't really put the visqueen down though until I can cover it with gravel, as the UV light from the Sun will cause it to deteriorate. And I need to screen the gravel to get the dirt out of it, plus get the final grade on the exterior ... so it's a bit of a runway and somewhat involved
As usual, no shortage of stuff to do ...
