Anyone have a dark colored metal roof in a hot climate?
The 13' x 26' cover over the back porch is dark brown steel with white underneath. I don't feel any radiated heat standing under it when it's a hundred degrees plus in the sun. What I do notice is the racket that even a light rain makes. Before using steel for a roof I'd look carefully for a way to damp out the noise. Maybe a layer of rigid foam underneath would help, but the manufacturer of the roof would know for sure. And if you're in wildfire country, pay close attention to how the openings at the end of the steel sheets are closed off. For sure don't want embers (or anything else for that matter) getting up under there.
