Good idea to start with the .22 so early in the day and leave the bigger calibers until the neighbors have woken up.


I couldn't resist doing a bit of shooting myself yesterday. With no wind, it was perfect for throwing a box or two of 42grn Winchester subs down the range. After leveling a few mole hills (rimfire is a little slower than chain harrows - or shotgun), I thought I would check my 50 yd zero with a swan's feather (no swan attached !). What an incredible structure they are. Instead of punching holes through and breaking off, the feathers mostly deflected then sprung back into place.

This is my last day of work before Christmas :dance1:. Best I go now, or I will have to reprimand myself for starting late.

Good morning! 23˚ coldest day of 2016. No wind this morning so it actually does not feel that cold as I picked up some kindling in the yard to jump start the coals in the fire. Up early also, feeding the animals and wood for the fire. Gray2 slept inside but Whipper could not be coaxed inside. She seems happy enough on the south porch.

Did Drew just take a poke at Eric's tractor at 3am in the morning. :laughing:

Let the fire go out yesterday for the first time in a week or two since it got up to 66. But will build another this morning after an early dentist appointment. My small town dentist of 30 plus years retired, so I've been sold over to another practice. Should be an interesting visit to see how another dentists does things and what more modern equipment looks like.

That was cool!
I knew Porsche manufactured tractors up until the mid to late 1950's. Never knew they had a diesel version...thought they were all petrol engines.

32 outside, man it was almost, almost 70 yesterday. That was crazy. Then the winds came along.

One of my outbuilding that is under renovations, a milk house, the concrete floor was leaking wet with the weather change. It has drains so the water condensation moved to the drainage. But, WOW, never seen concrete "sweat" like that. What is one to do to prevent that? More air movement is the only possibility I see?

Morning , I have not seen anything good about it yet. -8 F outside and house is popping and clunking, have electricity this morning but did not Friday Morning . Roads covered with ice and traffic running at 5 mph. Schools closed, Wind chill advisory , This is one of the days the bottoms of my shoes freeze and will not bend to walk and my coveralls fell like 1/4 inch plywood when I thaw out the zippers standing by the wood stove so I can get them unzipped. My plans for today are to make a continues circle to the wood stove, bathroom ,coffee pot then to the recliner over and over.

Sounds like a good plan. Just dropped to 22˚ here, the coldest it has been in 20 months.

We have 14 above right now with a high of 20 for the day. At least the wind is down. Put a radio in the tractor yesterday. Plays great and just plugged right in. Got it on ebay for 168 bucks.

The longer range forecast thru third week of Janurary. West coast turning cold Midwest battleground for stormes mid Atlantic mild very mild. The cold is trapped up north and will not drain down like it's supposed to leading to a zonal pattern in air flow. Snow hounds in the east will have to be patient a while longer. I am afraid that our winter will happen in the spring cold and wet. Christmas Day convertible weather this year

The lady bugs will wake up again I hope the stinks bugs stay away
