Too early for these crisp mornings, heard that they are predicting a lasting summer for us (into fall) and a late hard winter.

There are one or two metrologists who agree with your prediction

Got some really strong storms today lots of lightening strikes close by and localized flooding

Good evening all. 72F and partly cloudy this morning, overcast by 9AM but no rain today either. Made it to 83F and humidity is down as well :). Got the front derailleur freed up, was road grime and sweat/corrosion, penetrating oil did the trick. Got the ride in, Finished mowing the lawn and mowed Friday's work again. The sharper blade worked like a champ. Trip to Lowes and the bike shop tomorrow.

60 right now...slept with the bedroom window open and it feels nice. Today's high is supposed to be 74...100% chance of thunderstorms this morning, then cloudy...then more t-storms this evening.
I did get the back yard mowed when I got home...also part of the field. After mowing the backyard, I ran across some of the other yard, but except for patchy areas, didn't need mowing.

Good morning. It turned out to be a gorgeous summer day yesterday and if we are lucky could be the same again today.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that lightning map covers our part of the world too. Just hoping it has nothing to show for at least a couple more days, until this hay is baled and under cover.

Roy and Thomas, send some of that cool air down our way please...
another hot day, and for the first time I see a UV alert on Wunderground.
I guess today will be quite sunny.

I mowed for almost four hours yesterday in this heat and no way am I doing that again today.
Plus I have both helpers coming today; my fireman can only give me several hours a week now he has so many mow jobs, but he will be cleaning off my shed roof and barn roof; loaded up with pine needles. Gutter guards installed, but they are never perfect. He's happy to be given jobs that aren't mowing; he gets pretty sick of mowing by this point in the summer, particularly since we've had enough rain, until recently, to keep the grass growing like mad.

Today I drag water hoses and water a lot of small bushes.

58F now upper 70's for high.
Tasting some comfortable weather...good sleeping weather,no signs of 90's for while, t-storms showers off/on next couple days should help out brooks/streams.

Next couple evens after work take trimmer least tank walk.

Enjoy the day all.

"Roy and Thomas, send some of that cool air down our way please..."
Not much control of that, maybe the folks over the border point fan downwards tad more push jet stream.

Poured second cup of coffee. 71° with light rain this morning. Heading to 78° with slight chance of thunderstorms. Survived 2 doctor appointments yesterday. Unfortunately they both generated new appointments next week. Little over 2" of rain overnight. Grass should get a little greener. May have to cut it by weekend. Everything is too wet to do anything outside. Looked at my to do list. Clean out cabinets of all the CD/DVD's with computer programs on them. I look at them and think that I spent lot of money on them over the years. But they are pretty much useless today.
Good Morning All.

69 going to 96. Ended up with 1.02 inches...first rain in a week so welcomed, except if my spray doesn't work. Extra foggy this morning.

More mowing once things dry out. Grass seems to be the greenest and thickest ever in August, and grows an inch or two a day.

Ron, sorry you have to go back to the doctor.

Good morning! 75˚ light rain on and off, .3" last 24 hrs. looks to be about the same today.

Dad's Tractor part is sent back to Washington and hopefully the right one ordered this time. It's hard to get the right spindle axles since 4 different kinds were made and the numbers the manual do not match the ones on the internet and the measurement of off by only a hundreds of an inch. $60 in shipping charges down the drain, but at least the replacement spindle axel cost $60 less.

Ron, you know with our collective TBN knowledge we can diagnose over the internet and save you all those Dr. visits. You can then pick out which diagnoses you want to go with.:D Most of the prescriptions can be filled at Harbor Freight with a 20% off coupon.

Thanks for the support. There is light at end of tunnel. I am getting better. But my kind doctors want to make sure with continued test.
I got a 25% off coupon in the mail for last week end from HF. Walked the whole store twice on Friday. Used my coupon on a bag of 11" zip ties. It did make me feel better seeing all the tools I could buy if I ever needed them. Best part, that store is only 5 miles away. Now I do not need to buy tools ahead of time just in case I need them.

Good Morning! 73F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like highs will be in the high to mid 90s for at least the next ten days, typical for August here, but we're not seeing as much cool down in the evenings, with lows in the mid to upper 60s. And even those lows don't happen until just before dawn, so the house isn't dumping as much heat to the night sky.

I have a drawer of old software just like yours, Ron. It hurts too much to clean it out, I paid so much for that once vital but now useless software.

Next time you see those doctors, ask them if they're building a swimming pool or planning a foreign vacation. Both would be powerful incentives for scheduling follow up appointments with their patients.:laughing: And Don makes a good point, but if you sign up for the HF mailing list, you get a 25% off coupon each month!

Got the new fan mounted on the booth wall yesterday, and once again most of the air just bounces off the filter. But more makes it through the more porous of the two, so that will have to do for now.

Finally got a call from the US rep for the spray gun manufacturer, who insisted that my gun went out of production ten years before I purchased it new. :confused2: He then went on to tell me that he still has the new tip set I need, and would gladly sell it to me for $265.10. When I told him I paid "only" $450 for the gun to begin with, he offered up a 30% discount. I thanked him for his generosity, but suggested that putting more money into a tool that is no longer supported by its manufacturer made little sense, and that I would be shopping elsewhere for its replacement. A company that supports ALL of its products, regardless of age.

So a fair amount of time was spent discussing options with the new paint supplier, and I'll likely be dishing out another fat chunk of change on another gun. But not the kind Roy would like to shoot in his backyard. However, I'm assured that this new one, even though it's been in production for several years, is the backbone of the company's offerings, and they (Iwata) have a very good track record for supplying parts for older guns. I think I'll test that today; I have an airbrush I purchased at about the same time as my current spray gun, and I think it might need a new gland nut, or something.

In spite of all that fooling around, I managed to clean up some paint burnt by our recent brazing efforts on the van, and get some experience touching up the white colored interior. Aside from some overspray which I'll rub off this morning, the repair seems to be invisible.

Also got the new drain plug welded into the oil tank, and got the tank, bracket, and cover plate painted, only to discover I'd forgotten to weld the old drain hole over. So it looks like I'll get a little more practice patching paint jobs sometime in the near future.

The surprising thing is I was able to work through the entire afternoon, while the temps reached 98F. Normally I conk out at about 95F, but I stayed in the shade of the garage and just ignored the sweat trickling down my back.

The day's last job was to bring packages down from the lock box up at the street, and it seems UPS was very busy delivering four shipments. The seam sealer and gun were there, along with the color and base coat paint for the van, and the new blue color primer recommended by the painting pro. Roy wouldn't be interested in that new gun either, even though it comes with a name right out of Starwars: Lord Fusor. Now where did I put my Imperial Stormtrooper outfit?

Up before the sun this morning again, and couldn't help but notice the deep orange and almost full moon. It was very large in the sky, just begging to have its picture taken, so here it is:

moonOrangeRed.jpg

Are you folks seeing the same coloration? I'm wondering if it might be due to the big fires burning south of here. The area around Clearlake, California is getting it again; two huge fires hit the area just last year and many people burnt out by the current one were also devastated in one of the previous two. The little town of Lower Lake was severely damaged, and the fire is now approaching the much larger town of Clearlake itself.

73 this morning and headed to 79 today. Rain later I hope.

I'll be packing feed today. Then chicken coops will be ready for chickens. Wife and littlest ones doctors appointments went good yesterday and oldest had a good 2 hours at preschool.

Wngsprd. Most of the time with glyphosate "if it drys, it'll work." Pretty true with name brands. Some generics lack the surfactants needed for this to happen.

And the news this morning is that the fire I just wrote about, the Clayton fire, was started by an arsonist. And that he's been arrested:

Arson suspect arrested in relation to Clayton Fire - KRCR

If convicted, perhaps he should be made to serve on a wildlands fire crew. I would suggest that instead he be confined in a house that was then set on fire, but that would be too kind.

Good morning all. 71 here now going to 92 with a 30% chance of thunderstorms. The guy is coming to do the pad for my new shop. I miss my massey, it would have been a fun job but now it will cost $$$$$. Should be here any time so....

Have a great day. Ed

Got a good shower in the wee hours, not sure how much, batteries dead in outside sensor pod. Better than none at any rate, another hot day today and tomorrow, now they're saying the mid 80's will only be Thursday and back in the 90's for another week. D@MN!
Started working on my rear hitch for the 3208, still deciding exactly what I want. Anyway, have a good day mates!
