61 right now....high of 75 today and we're getting a break from the high temperatures we've had over the last week. The more moderate temperatures are to last until the weekend

73 degrees going up to 91 today, after rain last night, about an inch overall. Supposed to be a nice day today but heavier rain returning tomorrow, then clear for a nice stretch. Works for me.

this morning it's lawn duties; that will take all morning. Then hopefully this afternoon I can get a little overdue baking done. I have friends from PA staying over Friday night on their way to Myrtle Beach, and I promised them some home made muffins. Plus while the oven is hot I'll throw a chocolate cake in there; hate heating up the kitchen for just one thing in the oven. Then after I make a huge mess in the kitchen, hopefully the cleaning ladies will come...
Actually I've found with flour you really have to clean it up quickly or it will try to become like the Loctite above on the sides of bowls so I pretty much clean as i go. Once everything goes in the oven, about 20 minutes of quiet time to clean up.

My neighbor, the paid fireman and EMS guy, told me he was over at the car wreck down the street a few days ago, and said from his trained eye...good possibility the driver was intentionally breathing paint fumes before running off the road and taking down the pole, spinning around and winding up in a soy bean field. Geez, can't they wait until they get home?.......... I mean, my Rustoleum is so much better with a glass of Chardonnay.:confused2:

little info on epi pens. Got my coupons from my primary doc, and went to pharmacy where they told me the manufacturers coupons did not apply to Medicare part D, something about double dipping. ?? Whatever, it still only cost me 30 bucks for two pens. I'll keep one in the barn and one in the house. Says do not refrigerate, do not expose to light.

60F now mid 70's for high.
Hour an half real close rumbling thunder and rains heavy at times last evening  enough that some small apples fell from the trees.
Cooler temps starting today least to the weekend. :)

Enjoy the day all.

Poured second cup of coffee. 56° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with with plenty of sunshine. Lawn cutting day again. Dry spell forecast for the next week should cut back on lawn cutting.
txdon, sorry to hear about your wife's injury. Hope it heals sooner than one year.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning. 0530, clear, 74F with 92% humidity. Forecast high of {only} 90F with 50% chance of thunderstorms today, and a low of 76F tonight. Rain chance is highest at 1145. I want to have cut under my toasted sweet corn and planted peas in that spot by then. Margie is taking the day off {to make up for having to attend County Commissioner meeting last night}.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

71 and low humidity! Should get to 86 but not bad with lower humidity.

Got some bush hogging and mowing to catch up on after a meeting in town.

59F headed to around 80F today & sunny. Lots of t-storms passed around us yesterday evening.

I bought a spray can of something not too long ago and the clerk asked my birth date. Took me a moment to realize why. People must be breathing all sorts of weird stuff. I really don't get that.

57F @ 4:11AM in John Day, OR. Partly cloudy. High 84F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Dave, in Kalifornia they have to check IDs for spray paint purchases. If you're under age you need a note from your mother:confused2:

Managed to dodge thunder storms yesterday afternoon on the way north, and what little rain I did hit wasn't even enough to wet the road. The cloud cover kept the temperatures comfortable. Good roads, great scenery, what's not to like? Well, maybe the delays for road construction, but I guess in the mountains summer time is when you fill winter's potholes.

Motel within walking distance of a little brew pub; not much on the menu but what there was was good. Figured why not try 'em all?

Only a little trouble with dry eye, stopping frequently to hydrate seems to help.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Good morning! A warm morning at 77˚ heading to the high 90s. Thanks for all the well wishes for my wife. A year is a long time but one month is already gone. Next week she gets x-rayed to make sure everything is still in alignment.

Drew those paint fume are really brain damaging. I once had to interview a guy in the mental hospital who was a former paint fume inhaler. His mind was totally wasted and he could not answer any questions - what a waste and a burden on society.

Every time I spray paint I think of him and have it well ventilated. School kids need to visit a mental hospital and see what their future will be like after inhaling fumes.

Drew I was thinking of you neighborhood crash yesterday when we were having helicopter landing training last night with the surrounding VFDs. A helicopter from Bastrop came out for the drill. We wetted the landing area but still got sandblasted on landing and take off. A girl was riding her bike in the nearby park well out of the landing zone area but the wind from take off blew her off the trail. - Probably the most exciting thing for her to remember her 2015 summer vacation.

71 this morning and headed to 89 today. Lower humidity is forecast. Last night was still very heavy and thick. No rain till Monday.

Managed to get all the barns ready for the new sawdust. 2 trucks are here already and two more will be back about lunch. Takes a semi load per barn just to cover floors. These are open top box vans with a live floor. Very neat to watch unload. Today will be a spread and level day. Be lucky to get done today.

Good morning all. 76F this morning, calm wind and woke up to the sound of rain, and I don't remember rain in the forecast  I guess I can put off working with the irrigation system for a couple of days. Will concentrate on window cleaning and power washing today and sneak a bike ride in when the rain dries up.

got all the mowing done, very nice day out.
Weather forecast for tomorrow keeps getting more interesting.
2.56 inches of rain forecast. I'd better get the turtles to high ground...
Problem is it could also be one inch of rain, which would be wonderful, or
four inches which would flood the place. The rain is so heavy at times and the land is so flat there is just no place
for the water to go.
When I pulled the trimming mower out of the barn two frogs jumped out from underneath, each going in opposite directions.
Better get to high ground guys.

Off to go food shopping. Have a meat loaf to make for my friday night guests. Meat loaf, mushroom gravy, home grown potatoes, and some green vegetable. And a home made triple chocolate cake with Hershey's dark chocolate frosting. With a scoop of Blue Bunny ice cream on the side. They won't leave hungry.

Need to make the meat loaf, the cake and some sweet corn raisin muffins. Less typing, more cooking...;)
The muffins are for breakfast and for them to take with them to Myrtle Beach. I found that they freeze nicely in a squeezed out ziploc bag.

I wonder if "time to get cracking" means cracking the eggs for breakfast...

Drew, I think it has something to do with draft animals, as in 'cracking a whip', but then I could be wrong.

I'm sure you're right Larro, I was just in a cooking mode...you know.

and for a hot menu update, my farmer neighbor called and part of his conversation was to tell me his Silverqueen corn was ready and come on over and pick some fresh. Well, you don't have to tell me twice on that... I'll go over early in the cool of the morning and pick some fat ears.

Well, I'd admit to a lazy morning as I haven't even looked at a piece of drywall, but not true. I've done math problems with Granddaughter. Listened to her read aloud, checking the dictionary, testing comprehension of the story, ordered her a pedometer to help with her fitness (she now walks with Grandma) and am almost ready to have her help me prepare early dinner. I'm ready for a nap!!!!!!

Drew, don't mess around. Top that triple chocolate cake with a chocolate Ganache.

Ganache
8 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
⅛ teaspoon salt

Ultimate Triple Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache | Gimme Delicious

My FIL always wanted to know how eating a two pound box of chocolates could make him gain 10 pounds.
