Buckeyefarmer, My wife just asked for peanuts while she was cooling her healing arm when I read your post. I'm glad your wife is doing better. Our VFD was thinking about switching from cottonseed oil to peanut oil in their annual fish fry. If they do, I'll be sure to put up peanut allergy warning signs. (say thanks to you wife for keeping us aware)

She always has to ask what kind of oil things are fried in.

thanks for the well wishes. She was canning green beans when she just started breaking out in hives all over her body. my youngest son watched the canning and my oldest took her to the ER after she used the epi pin. i found out on my way home from work.

Eric, sorry about your Honda. What, then, did they propose as a cure? Maybe they'll have to give you a new car if they can't fix your old one?

I left the dealer to talk to Honda and work out if they need a new technique or a new part, then try again next time I am passing that way.

Yesterday afternoon I helped clear out a small part of workshop that once belonged to a man who had lived for cars. His widow told us tales of Peter's past. He was a commercial mechanic who knew all the tricks to get virtually un-roadworthy vehicles through their statutory tests. In fact he was so good at it, the highways inspectors recruited him to go work on their side - a classic Poacher turned gamekeeper. His vacations were a little unusual - Peter and his wife enjoyed their breaks in very different ways, so he would take her and their dog to Wales, then return home so he could spend almost his entire vacation working on his own vehicles.

Outside, leaned against the brick wall and part buried by soil, was the frame of an old press that he acquired many years ago and never quite got around to putting back together. The friend I was with helped him carry it around all those years ago and is now determined that he will get it working again. Most of the structural frame is sound, although I've a feeling the hydraulic ram will be soaking in a drum of diesel for another year before it goes on the scrap heap. Please let me know if anyone has a picture of an assembled press with a ram similar to this one.

61 headed to 87. Still low humidity for this time of year.

Buckeye, sorry to hear about your wife's scare.

Ron, hope your mom is okay.

Heading out in a few minutes to clear a few fallen trees from my woods path. I've been waiting for it to dry out some down near the creek and for a cool morning. Lucky to have both today. I got my bush hogging finished yesterday, so took it off to make maneuvering through the woods easier.

Might get some rain sprinkles today & low 70's.

Ron, good luck with your Mom. High blood pressure is nothing to mess with. Hope she is put right soon.

BuckeyeFarmer, hope your wife is resting easy after her peanut scare.

We have resumed car shopping. We have decided on a Subaru Forester. Good reviews at Consumer Reports and friend's experiences. Now comes the joy of dealing with car salesmen.

I always just try to make the list price the walk out price and that I'm happy and the salesman is happy.

We have a 2014 Forester. I love the AWD and clearance. Never have driven it in snow. Only warranty problems we have had were the back door not opening sometimes and a little oil consumption (1 qt at 7,500 miles - driving 75mph roads). They say the oil consumption is normal for the boxer motor and actually did an oil consumption test that it passed. The rear door was fixed with a new sensor. I just wish they would not put sun roofs in all their upper models - I have mine covered with a shield and have never wanted or used it. With the good AWD comes the two annoyances - The tires need to be the same diameter - meaning when you have to replace the a tire because of damage half way through it's life you have to replace them all and second you must use a ride-on wrecker if towed. Over-all I would recommend it especially in snow and gravel areas.

Good morning! 76˚ heading to the high 90s. Saying good-by to Mikim today.

71 this morning and headed to 91 today. Humidity is coming back. Litter is in the houses and now needs to be disinfected and bug sprayed then I'll be ready for setup and feed. Have a couple of wife's teenage nephew's coming over today. We'll see how fast they can sling feed. Maybe I can stay ahead of them. Hopefully I can get them started and let them roll. They shouldn't need much instruction there dad runs 8 of these things. And they can't come over till they are done at his. So be atleast mid morning.

Hopefully everyone gets out of the hospitals today and stays out of them.

Mom was taking allergy shots when I was in school. Had her throat swell shut while still at doctors office. They had to give her 2 épée pins. And an ambulance ride to ER. Allergic reactions are not something one wants to wait on.

Keep your 3 other half worn tires in a cool dark place and save them for spares (if you buy the same exact diameter tires for replacement)

Going to Mikim's funeral today too.

Don, I didn't realize your wife had to have all that surgery on her hand/wrist. Now you need a riding mower with power steering and a steering knob. :). I do hope she gets full use of it again soon. Atrophy is a mean byproduct. And sorry that it had to happen on your Anniversary cruise.

Buckeye, hope your wifey is better. That must be a horrible allergy to have, being that peanuts are in almost everything these days.

RNG, Be Safe. Like the zebra stripes! Did you do that?

Ron, hope they figure out what's going on with your mom.

Thanks for the Forester feedback. I haven't seen a tow behind wrecker used around here (for regular cars) in years. I see them here and there but every wrecker that comes to accidents is the tilt bed + winch style. Roof racks and sun roofs I don't have much use for. The sun roof is a good way to get ventilation through when leaving the dogs in the car but we don't do that in summer weather unless it's really cloudy. The roof racks are just obstacles to wash around for me.

Subaru has a big market here in New England, probably for the winter driving. Unfortunately we don't have a local Subaru dealer. There is one 45, and another 90 minutes away.

gorgeous day here, ran some errands, mowed the front lawn again (I swear it's growing an inch a day), cleaned up and now am staying inside to cook this afternoon. Got my muffins, bread and chocolate cake done yesterday, today is a mystery meat loaf. They are never the same. This time ground beef, mild sausage and turkey, plus stuffing mix, some diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar, and lots of seasoning. With red wine & portabella mushroom gravy. Home grown diced potatoes and fresh corn on the cob picked this morning at my neighbors.
might have extras if anyone is in the area...

I took the chocolate cake out of the refrigerator and as it is warming up the whole kitchen is starting to smell like dark chocolate. I wish I could give a big piece of it to Mike Kennedy's wife for comfort.
