Got a little clean up done in the shop and then got some stove wood split just before I came down for dinner.

Earlier I hosed off the regular loader bucket (upcoming mods and paint touch up), snowblower, and wood chipper and then moved the wood chipper into the shop for maintenance, modifications, and general TLC:

I'm going attach a couple pieces of 4" x 6" x 48" PT lumber to the bottom of the base to raise the unit up so that the PTO shaft isn't running at an extreme angle, cut off the feed roller bar and move it to the back and make it foot-operated, add a couple of pieces of plate into the throat of the feed chute to prevent small stuff from wrapping around the feed roller rod/axle, and, if I can scare up a suitable chunk of sheet/plate, modify the side wings on feed chute so that they angle outwards. Also need to modify the top link attachment point for clearance with the quick-hitch hook.

Might even have a look at modifying the output chute so it can be rotated ...

And I need to grease the unit, check belts/alignment, sharpen the blades, and set the anvil/blade clearance ...

Off to Dentist for 6 month cleaning and checkup. Neighbor has a 100' trench that needs filling in. May wait a day to do it. Should be a little warmer with sun tomorrow.

Plan to take the shop vac over to the fire house this morning and suck up dead flies. That building has a serious problem with cluster flies and has for years now. Last week I sprayed inside so the floor is probably black (literally) with the stupid pests.

Tomorrow is going to be much warmer. 52*. Ha. Cold and rainy on Saturday. This is taking a serious bite into my cycling time.

Good morning! This is the coldest morning of Fall 2014 at 33˚ with a brisk 14mph north wind making the chill factor 24˚.

I will have to do water line and plant preparations as we are right on the line for a predicted hard freeze tonight.

The inside temp dipped down to 65˚ over night and the heat pump is humming now. I'm almost starting to think about looking for the perfect dead tree to start feeding the wood stove.

Have to go to a review board meeting for my 7year old daughter this am. She has a touch of autism but all in all she is very high functioning. Most of the problems stem from other kids teasing her. She makes good grades in her 1st grade class.

27 this morning and headed to 35 today. Windchill is 17. Ouch. Really need to finish winterizing. But also have a decent bit of mowing left. Had a new calf yesterday. Now if the other 2 stragglers would calve I would be done this year.
