Anyway somewhat better today

Was setting up to split some of the oversize firewood but concluded that the new stove with the bigger firebox should be able to handle it. Today will scout out rounds to split.

Sorry about your stings. Hate wasps. I was fortunate on the riding mower Friday when I went under a low branch on our pecan tree and my face ran into a nest with about a dozen wasps on it. I had on a baseball hat, sunglasses, ear muffs and an N95 mask. I mashed on the forward pedal and was slinging off everything on my head. Did not get hit. Got the Raid out and took it out. Raid flying insects in the black can is the best.

Went to a fun wedding yesterday. 2 people from 2 churches that we attend. We knew both congregations attending. So it was good for us. Some good bbq brisket, chicken, green beans, German noodles. Good carrot cake too for the groom's cake.

Drew and PJS, y'all have fun.

Getting ready for church.

Prayers for our team.

Good Morning Paul,
Next project was to make the mantle on my friends sawmill.
Should make a nice mantel ! Are you going to let it dry out in the barn ? When I was building our home back in 1982, I did some machine work for a guy that owned a mill in Vermont. In return he milled a piece of red oak for our mantel. I let it dry in my garage for 6 months but even after that period of time the mantel twisted ! I guess the only fool proof method would be to use a moisture meter !

Morning all, 63 going to 83 and cloudy.
got a smidgen of rain last night, ground still pretty dry.

Did some cleanup and then we went to peddlers village for dog walk, then dropped off dog and into town for some time watching the river go by. Then picked up dinner at Lebanese place in town.

All said and done, got 2 peaches from tree, rest got eaten by critters, and quite a few attacked by ants. Looks like I will have to sticky tape all the fruit trees.

Happy retirement CKF - guess more time on the farm? Any big plans?

Dehumidifier cleaning worked, even has a little filter for the pump, which desperately needed cleaning. Pays to read the manual sometimes...

Got a Eufy Solar camera on sale, will see how it works for us.

Paul/Popgadget - that should make a pretty amazing mantle.

Drew/PaulPJS - have fun today- We used to go feed the giraffes at a local zoo when kid was small. Lots of fun.

Be well,

Still working on the bridge. Hope they finish soon. It needed the work.
We have another narrower bridge that the "commission" is trying to replace, all the local towns are fighting this and they are trying to get it registered to force it's preservation. It is the narrowest bridge on the Delaware, and is good at limiting traffic through that part of town since trucks can't use it.

For a long time the geese were keeping ducks away on the river. I don't know how (or want to ask), but the goose population is down and the hundred or so ducks we saw yesterday is a huge improvement.

72°F and .78 inches rain. Today looking like a wet one.

Yesterday was pretty much in the green house day. Got my gutter garden soaker irrigation put together and functioning. Like the way it works. Now I need to dial in settings. Started with 1 minute run every hour but suspect that may be too much. I’ll have to get a pic.

Also did a major rework of my hydroponics. Just couldn’t get the flow right. After letting the glue set overnight will be giving that a test run this morning.

This has gotten serious, calculated I’ve got about $300 into both systems and that doesn’t count the “free” parts. Looking for some tasty veggies as ROI.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

76F and sunny @ 12:00, calling for cloudy and a high of 82F for the day. 51% chance of rain which would be welcome.

Doled out another week's worth of meds yesterday first thing.

Was water in the Kubota bucket when I went out yesterday so we did get some rain, but it didn't look like all that much.

Third screening completed and cleaned up so compost screening operations finally finished for the year ... (y) :

What's left in that pile needs to rot down over the winter, still have a couple of smaller piles to do down by the house as well but won't get to those until next year.

Refilled the 2 tube feeders and scattered some seeds for the ground feeders.

Saw one groundhog out by the feeders. Think it's one from the neighbor's who might be looking to relocate.

Got the front lawn mowed, still need to do down here by the house. Ground was very dry and hard ... :(

Relatives came by for some zucchini, hooked them up with a couple. Picked a larger one that got away from me. Probably shred that one for zucchini bread.

Undid the cage around the peach tree, the wind blew 5 of the 6 peaches down the other day so I gathered those up and picked the last one.

Woman got sick the other day, upper respiratory/chest thing, was feeling pretty bad. Neighbor dropped off a COVID test, Woman says She muffed it when She did it ... so not clear what it is. She sounds like crap but says She's feeling better today ... (y)

Probably going to work on dividing more hosta clumps and getting those planted today.

Need to refill the Water Buffalo.

Best chances for rain between 17:00 - 19:00 so probably hold off on any mowing until tomorrow. Had enough of the bumpiness on hard ground yesterday doing the front.

Habanero peppers getting ripe along with the others, need to get those picked.

Hopper feeder probably due for a refill.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

Paul and I certainly had a fun morning.
Beautiful zoo, huge, though the heat kept a lot of animals out of sight.
The giraffes were so beautiful to look at and there was a baby giraffe there.

then we headed off to Cahokia Mounds museum but it was closed today.
lot of mounds including one big one.

we had a nice lunch then a trip to supermarket where I picked up a few things, and now back for a nap. Just a lovely day and Paul is a joy to be with.

two galapagos tortoises decided to smooch while we were watching

Yea, we all spend a small fortune and lots of time for a $50 harvest. 😂

I hate gardening, but the other day two good sized tomatoes cost me $7.00 at a farm stand. They were good and made delicious sandwiches but dang 3 sandwiches for $7.00 worth of tomatoes is kind of steep.

Good worship this morning at the Spanish speaking church my mother in law attends. They have a translator for us.
Then she treated lunch at an all you can eat grill that has about anything you’d want to eat.
Raining now, might be a nap taken.

Good Afternoon,
Drew, glad to see you and Paul got together! I did notice you are eating healthier with that salad , although Paul’s fries looked pretty darn good to me ! 😂

Nice pictures, thanks !

RS, we grew a few red hot cayenne peppers ! Harvest was only about 20 peppers and my oldest son likes hot and made a small bottle of hot sauce with 8 of those peppers ! Well, that sauce is hotb! 2 drops on a cherry clam is about all you want IMO ! 😉

It rained off and on all day, so nothing got done outside or inside either.
We did formulate a plan for the platform for the BH and various implements depending of the season.
The tarp that was fobar from the Dodge garage is going to get folded into 10'x12' squares and put down first, that will kill the weeds and then the platform built on top of that. 4x4s down both sides and across the front will be about 6' of 4x4s laid lengthwise to help support the tractor when I am dropping off and picking up the hoe. I am thinking that if I have enough of them I may close off both ends and maybe the mice will have to find another place to live.
I am not creative enough on the computer to show you all how I make it.

power has gone off twice
I dove for the electrical panel to see what tripped, nope, all just fine and no bad smells. My transfer switch was fine. Though the case was warm, not hot.
So outside I go and it was the faulty 30 amp receptacle that failed again.
I told the rv host and he didn't seem too motivated to do much then, ,and now has left for the day.
thankfully I have an easy solution
use my 50 amp adapter on my 30 amp cord and plug it into 50 amp receptacle. Which appears to work just fine.
when I got here the metal cover had broken off the front exposing everything to the rain. No wonder it's messed up.

had a nice rest, thinking about what to make for dinner
can't use toaster oven, still hot and sunny out so cooking will be provided by the microwave.

I cross over the little Eads bridge to get to Missouri just across the Mississippi River, and then head West on 44.
I called Laura Ingalls Wilder rv park to check in the day ahead as they asked and they said no problem but someone was in that site, and would not be leaving til noon. So I'm leaving later tomorrow morning and will plan on 1pm

Paul said land gets much flatter soon
probably why the marketing slogan for this little campground I'm going to,
which is right across the street from Laura Wilder's home, which they have made quite a tourist attraction, is

Bring your little house to our prairie

Drew, when I was at the arch back in 2013, I drove across Eads bridge just to do it, turned around near your campground exit and drove back across..we went down I44 to Branson. Didn’t realize the wilder place was down that way.
