Good morning!!!!

Good morning! Low of 58°, sunny, no rain. High should be 88°. The temps are supposed to cool down into the 70's by Monday, good chances of rain on M, T, W. --- variable chances from 60-80% .... I hope so....

Whoever said that we would get rain as soon as I started work on the addition----- well, you need to go get a lottery ticket.....

Two very different forecast models for those 3 days. The US model shows rain totals for us around .75" total, the Euro model shows 1.5". We'll take any and all !

Don't get me started on the crime and gun issues here....
I am in agreement with our governor about having to do "something" about the issue, it has become rampant....
But--- and a big but.... criminals aren't going to stop doing what they are doing because of an 'emergency declaration'
All this will just hurt the general law abiding citizens.

They need to keep the criminals locked up.... not allowing them to go through the revolving doors like they do now.

A classic example of how the powers that be screwed up:
If they caught a shoplifter, the shoplifter got a fine / citation. A second time, the fine just went a bit higher.... no criminal prosecution whatsoever!

So, the end result was a substantial increase in shoplifting--- duh! Some reportedly as high as $18k worth of tools taken from HD in one instance. This is occurring city wide. In addition to all the other crime.

Now they are back-pedaling to try and stop the rampant theft! Now they are going to "add totals" from multiple thefts in order to charge them with a felony theft ---- only problem is if the perp IS convicted, they'll get out the next day anyway.....

I could go on and on.....

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 9:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 84F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

I think Apple is announcing new products this week, David. If so, the current line will probably get discounted to clear it out.

Bunch of little jobs done yesterday, none of them involving paint. Also learned I've been called for jury duty, so that's how next week will start. So back on the road tomorrow to be home in time.

We'll do a little hike with my buddy's dog this morning, cut the grass at the new place, and maybe hit Costco for some dog food.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's a bit of a pain in the butt to serve on a jury. To me the worse pain is the selection process,
that is a boring drawnout tedious affair.
I've been called close to half a dozen times, I've only served twice.
One time I was simply amazed at the complete lack of sense of many of the jurors and how hard it was to get them to read and UNDERSTAND what was said during the trial. They sat there in a daze and could not seem to comprehend what was said and shown. It had to be explained to them like 3 year olds.
So to me it just goes to prove that while anyone can get out of it quite easily, maybe we shouldn't be so adverse to performing a civic duty.
Also, I thing that seems to be ignored and judges have an extreme dislike for but which we as citizens need to be aware of and willing to do regardless of judges instructions is jury nullification.
Every trail I've been too, see or heard about one of the judges instructions to the jury is that it is not their job to decide if the law is just or correct, just to determine if the party is guilty or not. And that IS where jury nullification comes in and it is an important part of our Nations history.

End of rant,
wishing everyone a good day
Every time I got called for just duty, I got eliminated in short order…

The funniest was, shortly before I retired, a rather “big” case (as in political BS big) where an undercover officer was engaged in a street operation to purchase a large quantity of narcotics, but then someone attempted to rob him at gunpoint, and, after some street calisthenics, the independent contractor grabbed the officers gun, but the officer recovered and shot the future astronaut heart surgeon in the arm and head. Said person did not die but Was blinded.

Nobody wanted to be on that jury, and while I was sitting in the jury pool room, three levies (100 people) had been summoned to that courtroom before lunch, and they still needed more jurors. Two more levies for that courtroom, I got called in the last one for the day.

Get up to the courtroom and they go through the particulars, and read off the witnesses for the prosecution and defense, and judge proclaims,”Anyone who has any association with any of the above-named individuals and thinks that may prejudice them, or has any other reason they believe they cannot be impartial, line up on the center aisle of this Court and I will have you approach individually and hear your statement.”

95% of the people start lining up.

Me, being a good gummint employee, who is on the clock anyway, and who lives within walking distance of the courthouse, and whose day is already shot, stay in my seat for the next almost two hours until there are only 7-8 people still sitting and only two people are on line to see the judge. Why stand so long unnecessarily?

Get up to the judge as the last one on line, and say “Hi Yor Honor. You are not having a good go with this jury selection stuff today, are you?” As I hand her my State AG Office ID and badge to her. I then asked “Should I go through the names?” She said, yeah you have to, for formalities sake.

OK…

On the defense side, all the (Name) family witnesses are former next-door neighbors to my wife when we started dating and it is a crackhouse.

I arrested these other theee guys when I was with the County.

on the prosecution side, the primary officer and three of the others in his unit I went to highschool with and still go out drinking with, These State troopers all worked crime scene and officer involved shootings with me in the past, and I went to the academy with half of the ——

“You’re excused.”

70°F and .21 inches rain

Yesterday seemed to get eaten up with minor things. As I’ve said before I really dislike mowing wet grass so that task is on for today.

Apparently got very lucky with my Apple Watch as it woke up in the afternoon and is functioning. Even completed a Sw update last night and sleep tracking worked. So although it got thoroughly doused with diesel I’m inclined to think the stoppage maybe have been the water when washing my hands. Need to find way to seal the bad spot and get another year

Have a great day

70F and cloudy @ 12:30, heading up to around 74F for the day's high. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible (15% chance)

Shut off the AC last night, hopefully that's it for the year. Heading for the big cool down this Wednesday, high temp only supposed to reach 63F.

Refilled storage containers for the safflower and sunflower seeds first thing yesterday, then got hopper and two tube feeders refilled, also scattered cracked corn for the ground feeders.

Loaded up used cat litter and compostables in the dump cart, took compostables up to the pile and dumped them, then put some more screened compost in the cart for potting more runners.

When I got back down to the house I used the cat litter to fill in an old burrow entrance on the east side of the house that the ground hog recently dug out.

After that I started working on potting more strawberry runners. Got maybe another 25 - 30 done. Ran out of the aluminum chain link wire ties that I was using for pins.

Did some clean up of debris on the weed barrier fabric in preparation for melting more holes for strawberry plants.

Woman grabbed a Little Caesars pizza for dinner on Her way back from dropping off the neighbor at work and then made a peach pie for dessert ... which was delicious:

Overnight low was 61.2F, good open window sleeping weather.

Winds seem pretty calm today so may ignore the (slight) chance of rain and get back to spraying various areas.

Possibility of doing some watering/feeding so the Water Buffalo can be refilled.

Have some flowers that need planted as well.

Otherwise see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday ... (y)

good morning, 69 going to 84 today. Got a small amount of rain last night

Got excused from jury duty due to care giver status. Is there not an age limit to jury duty?

will pick up branches with the tractor and see what else to get into now it is cooler

Have had a few outages of just a few seconds for some reason in the last few days

Age limit is 80 here. Believe you can still get the notice, just check the exemption.

we have days of rain coming in
sure wish I could send some West

landlady just left, she brought me some peaches and I sent her home
with eggplants and peppers. She was happy

waiting for dealership to call me and tell me car is done.
interesting driving their loaner, same car, base model but rode better than mine because
it had 19 inch 235s on it instead of 20 inch 255s on mine.
did not have a heads up display. That I missed.
standard seats not as nice as mine, but still good.
what was hugely improved was nav/telematics.
2024 Volvo has switched to Google, and the screen resolution and detail was much improved.
Loaner has the smaller non supercharged engine also but ran fine, actually smoother than mine.

RS, those strawberries look great, I hope you can keep the deer out...I believe I can see them salivating in the back ground.

Very pleased with how the strawberries are doing and very surprised at quickly the runners seem to root.

The 16 I started a while back and recently transplanted into the ground had roots all over the bottom of the pots when I popped them out.

Also pretty happy with the monofilament fence - seems to be keeping the deer out - particularly since I added the 3rd line.

The big test will be when browse becomes scarce later in the year.

David, use a small syringe to apply some 2 part clear epoxy under a stereoscope, maybe cyanoacrylate? I'll let the RC guys chime in.

Peach pie with homemade vanilla ice cream. Yumm.

New Mexico governor needs to get sued. Class action. against her, not the state. Take away her stuff.
