Good morning!!!!

was able to mow for several hours at the end of the day and was pleased to get it all done.
Then I bush hogged the overgrown field next to the garden and that sure looks better.
Helper comes tomorrow all day, he'll weedeat and I'll weed. Ground is so soft and muddy weeding is easy.
I think tomorrow is the day I pick my one and only Golden Perfection melon. Big round melon, yellowish in tint. Vine seems to be dying, maybe
from too much water so likely time to pick. If it's any good I'll share it with my neighbor. Their 1 1/2 year old boy seems to love melon.
Also have four ten pound + watermelons just sucking up the rain. They should be ready soon.

Picked some okra, picked some hot peppers, gave the hot peppers to fireman neighbor who chops them up and makes something with them.
He won't take the chocolate habaneros though. They are piling up in a baggie after drying out. 400k Scoville rating. I won't even pick them up without gloves.
Still trying to find someone brave enough to take them. They look wrinkly chocolaty to dark brown, though not sure how you could taste any chocolate
when your tongue has erupted in flames

not for me

Drew, if there is a lot of rain before picking time the melons will not be as sweet so do not
be disappointed.

Got the amazon cleats delivered so I was able to switch out pedals and try my new shoes. They work as expected no disappointments.

Whipper and Gray2 got their shots today so they are now legal.

Hope everyone is ready for a good weekend. I’m meeting a guy at mom’s to the see about selling Dad’s first tractor, A 1947 Fergerson. Not running and in poor condition. My late brother always had dreams of restoring it. IMG_2197.JPG

Got my new flow pump installed on my geo, and working. Now have AC upstairs again. Had to manually prime the pump.

I havent adjusted yet, but flow looks pretty good. This pump has a low, med, high adjustment, old pump had no adjustment.
Will have to see if i can disassemble and fix the old one. Motor will not turn.

Found a water leak in basement from the rain. Old furnace exhaust is dripping water.

Several fire trucks just went by, sitting on deck listening to the rain.0803181657a.jpeg0803181805a.jpeg

Wow you guys are prolific!

Thanks guys!
So far I got a big kiss and a 100’ expandable garden hose, more after breakfast I hear.
Happy belated birthday Topps. I'm glad it sounded like you had a great birthday. You are a good person.

Are you guys sitting down? Yesterday the mechanic sent me a really crumby video of the engine running in the Vanagon. Sounded like a Diesel engine, which he attributes to the new lifter hardware not being broken in yet. I'll swing by there today for a look see as well. He says he has an appointment for a smog check tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed it passes.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's coming'!

Darn good thing I was sitting down. I almost fell outta my chair. I'd hate to see the bill.....If I read about a VW shop getting burned down, I won't know if was due to a forest fire or what...

OK, gonna miss the mark a bit
YTD Low - 59°F less than handful 60 or below
YTD High - 83°F less than handful 80 or above

It must be nice having a thermal mass the size of the Pacific ocean surrounding you. :)

Growing up in Maine, 2 things to count on - mowing grass and shoveling snow. I’ll take cutting grass any day. I positively hate shoveling snow. Actually, don’t care for much shoveling anything.

I'm in full agreement. We stay in a lot here, during the summer. Not winter. And no snow shoveling.

Nice ride Drew. I hope you enjoy it. It looks really shnazzy. Hope the seats fit your body.

I got the tractor tire filled with Berrymans. I put an extra pint or more than what they called for. It is like an orange goop. Can't really detect any fibers to speak of.

Now I have a slight dilemma. The large tractor's steering I believe, is starving for hydraulic oil. I believe it is due to a clogged screen filter, accessed from the back of the rear end, just below and right of the PTO. I don't want to drain the oil if I don't have to.
Can I park it on a steep hill and try to remove it? Or, can I hook a shop vacuum to the fill port and let it "gurgle" while I clean it? Darn thing holds almost 12 gallons IIRC. Deere gets about $35 for 2.5 gallons of hydraulic fluid. I guess I could change it if I have to.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend.

Good evening all. 70F this morning, some clouds, calm wind. Wind gust got a little brisk at times, sky cleared, and high temp was 97F today. Took boat in to dealer, had a short list of issues, installed bimini top, tow cover, moved fish finder transducer, etc. Will be nice having the top with this heat.
Don, do pay attention to getting your shoes aligned properly, especially if there is no "float" between cleat and pedal. Step daughter never could get her cleats to not bother her knees.
RNG great news on van, waiting for positive smog results.
Never been to Sturgis, not big on crowds.
Prayers for all.

How do you do that, just by feel? It looks like about 3/8" adjustment to any side.

All this ambulance talk, and now I find out I'm 2 hours away from help......Don, I can see what may have been the best reason for relocation.

$15,000 for a helicopter ride? I'm in the wrong business.

We are in a Hospital/ER desert. Worse than a food desert (referring to places where grocery stores don't want to be).

Ron, I'm glad to read about your news. I guess I need to read your link, but I'm getting tired right now. Hope your arm gets better.

BEF, I would need another college degree to contemplate your geo system.

Barn fire over the hill from me, according to FD facebook post.

Geo is not that hard. I took a course to become a certified installer, and bought design software.

Not a very productive day, start and stop rain all day with no chance for even the grass to dry let alone the underlying ground. Maybe tomorrow.
Did get a worthwhile run to the transfer station. Wife whupped my butt at cards.
