70 outside this AM. Rain moving through.

Looks like a feet up day. And a day of remembrance.

The feet up, not by choice. I recall reading about Roy and his ZTR. Yeah, I started cutting grass, like David, it is an hours long job. I decided to cut horizontal to the house and not vertical. Figured I would give the pattern a break. What I failed to realize at the time was that I forgot where the rough spots are. LOL. About half-way through the cutting I hit a nice spot and wow....compression fracture of the spine. Should not joke about it. But darn, that made the next few hours and rest of the evening a wash. This AM, still....it will take a few days to clear up I am sure. Not doing that again.

If I can walk or bend without that spike of pain, I may go run some wire in the Milk House. Other than that....I will just take it easy.

Been online car shopping. I’m worried about the new Subaru noise. I suspect the CVT. It’s just over 4 yrs old, just paid off, 141k miles.

Scheduled test drive for Mazda CX-5, arrives at dealer in another week. It has 6 spd transmission.

Wife wanted to camp next month, everyplace we go is full.

I did increase the WV bid a little, but haven’t heard back. Saw one lot north of Roanoke we like, not a view though, and more expensive, but looks like nice area.

Where did you find this, BEF? I need something like that on the Husqvarna. Mowing the pasture is a lot bumpier than the rest, and makes my compressed disc less happy.

I went to the toolbox to take some pictures before RNG posted that a blind hole pulled is the solution.
My suggestion to try grease was based primarily on cost of tools. Blind hole pullers aren’t cheap, they are pretty size specific and then you need to set up a bridge or slide hammer to do the actual pulling. There is an example of a blind hole puller on the bottom right. A small slide hammer with internal expanding jaws might work, the jaws in the one pictured expand outward when the screw is tightened.
However, the pictured tools are all SnapOn, and I’m sure painfully expensive in todays dollars.
If you have access to a lathe, you could make an internal puller pretty quickly if you already have a slide hammer.

Here is one drawer or puller bits to be fashioned to do a lot of tasks.

I would be worried about using the grease pressure as the aluminium housing cannot take the pressure needed to push a bearing like that out. The housing will break out first. It would be cheaper in the long run just to buy the correct puller than a new housing.

SUCCESS! The transfer case is reassembled, ready togo back into the Jeep tomorrow.

I went to HF and got another "mini" 2 lb slide hammer wit very small puller arms. Fought for about an hour, the little arms kept popping off the race. So, used pieces from my other pullers, made and external frame, and slowly applied the pulling pressure. Left the pressure on and heated up the "cup" the bearing was in. POP! ok, it moved an 1/8".... repeated 3 times and out it came!

Thanks for all the suggestions, it was a true mix of many great solutions.

I looked into getting a real 'blind hole puller'..... they are seriously proud of them... ranged from $450-720. Ridiculous! I don't do enough to warrant those prices.

RNG, I was mistaken.... I have the axle bearing puller set from HF.... I noticed that one was made for pilot and needle bearings ---- it would have been the correct set. Unfortunately, the local store didn't have one anyway.

There was definitely something awry with the transfer case before the rebuild. Now everything spins easy and quiet. Now just to get it back into the Jeep.

I told my daughter's boyfriend that this work was his birthday present.... for about the next 10 years! My guesstimate of the labor would be close to $3K for everything that was done.

I was just remembering 9/11 and how surreal it was. I was in Goose Bay Labrador on a trip. Everyone was in disbelief and the airport was a zoo. Most of the diversions went to St John’s, but there were enough to overwhelm the facility.

The Canadians were very sympathetic and helpful, my stay was almost a week longer than anticipated.
We were able to leave Goose and go to North Bay which was our next stop anyway. So I waited there until the border opened up again.

Price a little higher than we like, but did find it was just perc’d. Neighbors own it according to tax records. Hopefully wells there not as deep.
Haven’t made offer, it will probably sell before we have time to go look.
They just had it resurveyed and moved some boundaries in July.

Got mine from Amazon $159 labeled exmark. Same one kubota sells for $300. It’s not air ride, but it helps.

Good late (Monday) morning. Winter is still hanging around as the overnight Low was 0.2C. It's sunny but with a breeze and there was 0.5mm in the gauge from a brief downpour yesterday arvo. it's presently 16.2C, which is a good 3 degrees above the predicted High.

I'll need to chain-harrow paddocks 3/4/5 as the Agisting Lady finally moved one of her ponies down to Triabunna to be a companion to another horse down there. Her other horse was put in with the 'Mad Horse Woman's on the adjacent paddock and I anticipate a new horse coming sometime next month.

Other than that, I'm got a Church Council meeting later this arvo. I'm fairly positive that I'll drive into Launceston tomorrow to accomplish a few things prior to my trip to visit family in Canada (Burlington, Ontario) on the 22nd.
