Don, I'll trade you two apple blueberry muffins for two of your ginger peach ones.

Buppies, hope wife feels better soon.

well, little drum roll here...
my new hero is Popgadget because in under three minutes he fixed my snowblower.
Out came the largest adjustable wrench I had ever seen, that went around the auger, then another
equally enormous wrench around the other wrench and that metal bent right back into place.
We fired it up and it ran fine.
Very happy to call dealer this morning and call off service call.

Way to go Papgadget!!!

Freezing rain starting to hit our area. Still 28°. Seeing reports of multiple accidents.

Quick question.
Will a gas stove light with a match if the power goes off or is there some safety device that will not let the gas flow?

Freezing rain early, just above freezing now, pole cap lights have water on top and icicles hanging from the sides. 35° on the thermometer. I hope it stays above freezing. Putting in spaghetti sauce now, for tonight’s dinner.
You thin skinned Texans try not to freeze to death. LOL
I truly feel for you, we had a stretch of 57 days in a row where it never got above freezing. Of course that was 1977.
Have a good day.

65°F and .04 inches rain.

Wife’s brother and his gf get their 1st shot today due to Sophie’s insistence they call our Health Clinic. Will stop by after and I will grill some nice Ribeyes I picked up yesterday.

Yesterday just too windy, keeping me off the roof to fiddle with my antenna.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Leverage is a wonderful thing, ain't it?
Glad you got it squared away, Drew! Saved you some money!!

Sometimes a fire wrench helps too...never had to work on an auger, but I've straightened out more then one thing (metal) by heating cherry red and working it. To get metal hot enough, you normally need an oxy-acetylene rig...

I used that pump (TERA PUMP 3RD GENERATION TRFA1 - Battery Powered Fuel Transfer Electric Pump - YouTube) to transfer 5 gallons of diesel from a No-Spill can to the tractor's tank...worked quite well! Took, maybe, 90 seconds to transfer all 5 gallons to the tractor's tank. I set the no-spill can on the Tacoma's lowered tailgate...this made the pump 3-4 inches below the filler neck. The pump took all the fuel out of the can, but I could hear it cavitating (not good for a pump), so I shut it off and the fuel in the hose drained back in to the can...maybe a cup or two. Now we need to determine the durability of the pump...see how it goes for the next several months

Quick question.

The Whirlpool range here has a safety shutoff solenoid valve that must have 110V power to open. When the power goes off, no gas will flow to the burners, oven, or broiler. When the power comes back on, I have to press and hold down one of the control buttons to re-energize the solenoid. Near as I can tell, the valve is not a mandatory requirement, so your stove may work just fine without electricity.

Here's a list of things that might and might not work during a power outage. It was written in 2019 when PG&E started turning off the electricity to residents in areas prone to wildfires.

Just in case some here might think we are missing out.

Our rain of late has also been snow events both on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

But of course I neither have to shovel nor plow.
