Whipper just showed up at our place 7 years ago. I hope she found a another good home. She will be missed.

Don, there is still hope and that's a nice thought. Did you ever watch The Littlest Hobo on tv ?

Good morning all. An overcast start and the wind is rising, which may put a stop on my chainsaw fun for the day. Yesterday I put together a trestle out of some big fence posts. It is about a foot higher than the top wire in the fence, so I am hoping to position it alongside the fence and then be able to drop some of the larger hawthorns onto it without crushing the wire. Never tried this before, so this could be another one of those hard learning experiences.

David, are you able to get the salt water batteries again ? I remember you telling us the battery manufacturer had filed for bankruptcy just after yours had been supplied.

Good to hear you have water running again Hawkeye. At 24 years, you certainly got your moneys worth out of the last control gear.

Good morning all, 55 going to 65 with increasing clouds, 80% chance of rain tonight. Calling for snow sunday night with little accumulation. Got inside of pantry finished yesterday and was ready to put the door up and the boy rolled over to go to sleep so a quiet was called and all progress on the pantry came to a sudden halt. Hope to get the door up today but we will see. Have a big home inspection monday, you would not believe what has to be in place. Even have to have sheets of plastic in case of damage to the house, the list goes on and on.

Don, still praying for you and Whipper, alfalfa has a hormone or something in it that promotes growth in plants so it is a very good addition to your garden. Got that from a Dick Raymond book.

Roy must be sleeping in this morning, enjoying his own bed.

Have a great day. Ed

Pretty miserable cold...quite achy. It'll pass, but probably no outside stuff today.

Weather:
35 right now...high in the low 60's and clear. As there's rain coming in tomorrow, I may have to rethink comment above about "no outside stuff"

Poured first cup of coffee. 35° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 45° with clouds and some sun in late afternoon. Resting yesterday was has helped my back a lot. Back to project list today. Need to start oil changes on generator, lawnmower and tractor.
Don, sorry to hear Whipper has not been found. But there is always hope. Read many stories about lost animals returning after a long time. From your post I thought you were trying to protect the potatoes from cold weather.
Hawkeye, glad you got pump running again. Mine is 27 yrs old. Had to replace controller one time. Hope it last another 27 years.
Randy, I had a few motorcycles over the years. From 60CC to 650CC. All 2 stroke. Mostly dirt bikes. I think that is why I have back problems today.
Good Morning All.

Good morning. 35˚ Yes Ron I was trying to protect the potatoes from freeze but make the cover dual purpose, also a soil enhancer. Still dark so I don't know if there is any frost on the hill this morning but what I do know is that bale of alfalfa hay is doing no good as a frost protector in the back of my truck.

Good morning. A warmer 44 going to 74 today in increasing clouds. Looking at the radar, big system coming from West to East as normal, but apparently now another front coming up from the South and they are yammering about the perfect storm if they meet. Meanwhile, a fast-developing coastal storm will dump torrential rain over parts of the Northeast U.S. from Sunday into Monday. Sounds like some early mud for Connecticut....
At this point we are down five inches of rain for the month, we can suck up a number of inches with ease.

Neck has been bothering me, too much twisting around getting in and around things painting this tractor. I try to wear my soft collar but it gets awfully hot
and sooner or later it comes off. It doesn't bother me while I'm doing it, it's the later that's no fun. Nothing new, but it's getting worse and that doesn't surprise me either.
Among other acronyms applied to me, I have SDDD, severe degenerative disc disease, and there is no cure. Just have to man up and no whining. One reason I'm hoping this new little tractor and carryall will let me reduce my lifting. We get by with a little help from our mechanical friends. Life without a grapple would be a lot more difficult...

This morning I'll be peeling all the blue tape off and seeing how much I oversprayed. Can't do anything about it, need to make another paint run.

gutters to clean out before the rain too.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Roy's sleeping in, then I bet he's going to try out one of his new guns. Would be nice to have your own gun range at home, wouldn't it?
I have neighbors that think they do. Not fully automatic, but one shot per second, boom boom boom boom boom boom Always at dinner time. Or when someone gets home.
Taking out one's frustrations? Have no idea what they are obliterating
Personally I like targets but am very happy others are mighty hunters.

Little bit of Motorcycle history. I purchased some of my dirt bikes from Penton Brothers Cycles in Toledo and Amherst, OH. My 400 Husky Enduro had fuel tank signed by John Penton. Did not help my riding though. Dirt Bike article. AMA Hall of Fame.
Back to tractors. Time to change oil and grease mine.

NWS had forecast a low of 31-32 degrees for this morning, but now they say it's currently 28. But they think it might go up to 57. I figure this cold spell should get the rest of the leaves to fall pretty soon from the Bradford Pear trees, so I can get the leave up and out of the yard.
