Drew, did you get snowblower fixed?

I can't without a big vise and the right tools, neither of which I have

bent lip on auger, 3/4" gravel in driveway just right size to get jammed in gaps.
First time I used it I had to replace shear pin. This last time something bent.
Dealer picking it up on Monday, will be interesting to see how fast they return a snowblower
that clearly is in prime season. 90 bucks to pick it up and bring it back and I bet they don't cover
bent metal under warranty...

36 here this morning and still raining. I think it rained 2 inches yesterday, supposed to rain the rest of the weekend. I need that Merc on a boat in my yard. Sitting here with my favorite cup on coffee blend reading what you guys have going on. I have a month before i have to go to Wisconsin for work. I sure hope the weather there gets better. I think I'll go start my 2 new tractors today and get a list of some items that I need to go buy for them and make a trip to Ag Supply. They have all of those types of parts that our Asian friends have duplicated. Hope you guys get some warmer weather and melt some of the snow and ice.

29 and freezing rain all day...going to 30, so many weather warnings coming in.

Alien, that's sure a pretty place.

Got the LLC taxes filed after arm wrestling turbotax a couple of times...now onto doing my own.

Watching the yearling deer chase each other in the snow got us laughing yesterday.

8 degrees at the moment. Sitting on the couch with my coffee watching the sun come up through my south/east window. low 20's for today with snow in the forecast. Pellet stove is using fuel at twice the normal rate as it's so cold. We even closed off the unused bedrooms to try and contain the heat to the living area. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Drew-Sorry about your mom! Prayers sent.
Haircut? What's that. Mine hasn't grown in years! I actually shave my head every morning while I'm doing my face.
I hope all the states not used to the snow and cold are able to stay safe!
Going to be doing some carpentry work in an unheated garage today. That should be fun.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy! And warm!

Good Morning
It’s 25 and not going up much today with snow/freezing rain/sleet this afternoon.

Drew, if you have a large adjustable wrench, it’s surprising how well they will bend metal.

Yesterday’s snowplow project went well. Got to use the Eastwood press brake to bend 3/8 x 4” flat bar. The issue was that with the loader arms all the way down, they could scrape the pavement surface and mark it up. It shouldn’t be an issue because the optimum height to get the correct blade angle is 6” or so off the ground. But in the real world I needed protection from myself, because while maneuvering I would occasionally let the loader arms bottom out. My solution was to add skids to the bottom of the snow blade’s SSQA that would prevent the loader arms from scraping the ground.

It looks like it will work, but we’ll se on the next plowable snow.

Got a lot done on the speakers, one will likely ship today as the grills came back from powder coating, so it’s ready for final assembly.

Still no luck with vaccination. Checked pharmacy site at 5:45 this morning and all appointments were already taken.

Good morning all. Just two more days of freezing to get through before the wind changes direction and hopefully warms up. I would like to do as Drew says and forget the ice. It is too thick to smash through, I am down to drawing it off from the house and carrying it over in small drums for livestock .

Vaccine rollout in the UK looks to be going well. On Thursday they announced that most areas of the country are now moving down to the 65-70 age group and sure enough yesterday I received a text from my doctors to say I am now eligible for my first jab. Clicking a link in the message connected me to the National Health booking system which gave me a choice of 2 dates for next week. All done in less than a minute, can't ask for anything easier.

Take it easy Kyle, you don't have to feel bad about doing very little while off with Covid, all you need to do is recover and not become a statistic.

Eric, feed that kitty!
Don, most of our feline visitors are part of a cat mafia that operates from a dairy farm higher up the hill. My wife offered food to one a couple of years ago but it was not that interested, all it wanted was an occasional scratch behind the ears. Apart from mice and voles, I reckon most cats come here when they get bored and want to play a game of taunting Max. :)

No damage but you Northern guys did not warn me of flying ice and frozen mailboxes. Any non-obvious other hazards to watch out for?

We had freezing rain and ice storms the last two years I lived in Ohio, Don. As others have mentioned, don't pour hot water on a frozen windshield. It could cause the glass to crack, and the water will just freeze making the problem worse. If you have to drive in freezing rain, you might need to pull over to scrape off the windshield so you can see where you are going. Don't try to drive looking through a small unfrozen hole in the ice. Use a plastic scraper to clean the glass. Metal will scratch it.

Clean the snow off the whole car, not just the windshield. Nobody wants your snow blowing back onto their car and windshield.

While we're talking about windshields, make sure you fill the windshield washer fluid bottle with fluid rated for low temperatures. Out here, most auto parts stores don't even carry the low temp stuff, so be sure to check the label before you buy.

If you try to help someone get unstuck by pushing their car, don't stand behind the wheel. You'll get splashed, and the water will freeze on your pants and shoes.

In this day and age of push button electric door locks, maybe this next one is outdated. But if you put your key in the lock and it doesn't want to turn, don't force it. A frozen lock is no fun, but you really, really don't want a key broken off in the lock. To keep that from happening, squirt some liquid graphite into the locks before the storms hit, which will keep them from freezing in the first place.

Use a scarf or mask over your face to help heat the air before you breath it. You really don't want to learn how it feels to freeze the snot in your nose...

-1F clear sky upper teens for high.

Mrs. has her wood furnace doing double time so its a chance I'll be outside on/off.
Outside chores done when I came in house waiting for me were 2 english muffins with butter and peanut butter spread on top :licking: day starting of good so far.

Plans for today... dump run,get critter food, check feeders for refilling other than that :confused3:

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning! 20 now, supposedly getting to 28. Freezing drizzle is possible today....awesome.... The forecast for frigid temps here keeps getting moderated and moved out. Monday into Tuesday looks to be the worst, below 0 temps have been removed. Long range forecast is looking better for end of the month temperature wise.

Thoughts for your mother Toppop.

Kyle, hope you and your son get thru the Covid with a mild case.

Haven稚 decided what today is gonna bring. Will find something to get into. Lots of projects to choose from.

Likely need to get the taxes done too.

Everyone stay safe out there
