I was looking up your locale, and I saw that there is a "Texas" Queensland. Do you head to the beach/ocean much?

Google Maps

Haha, No. Texas is well out in the bush from here. No beaches there. One of the hottest places to live. I used to visit there occasionally when I was a fleet Manager for the Emergency Services in another life. It used to be a Tobacco growing area until they banned growing tobacco. Small hospital and Ambulance Service, Pub, Garage and a shop or two and nice genuine folk live out there. Closest larger town is Inglewood which is quite a few hours drive from here. Couple of large Dams not too far away. Glenlyon and Coolmunda which provide good fishing.

Woke up to a light shower this a.m. Thank heaven. Such a relief. Even the animals/birds were suffering from the relentless heat. Still very light shower at the moment and promise of more for the day but as the sun rises, that may end.

It’s been a cold blustery day here, 35 now. Got one indoor tree up and decorations on, most other decorations are up, just have to do the big tree.
I have big pot of chili finishing up as I type this, and boy does it smell good. Ellen has been decorating and I’ve been cooking.

Got the geo flow center hooked up and running. Got it on a permanent electric connection, after running the old one 8 yrs on a temporary connection.

IMG_7901.JPG. Here’s the flow on my flow meter. This unit has 3 speed settings, the old didnt, so I can adjust it some. Running on medium, will have to look up what the old flow rate was.

Shutoff valve in bathroom still has a slow drip, about 1” of water in a sippy cup since yesterday. Gotta fix that, but not tonight.
It’s on the back side of the nut on the compression fitting.

The total US deaths raw data lag time is about 18 months - that will be when the actual numbers (as opposed to projected numbers) are given.

You would think it would be much faster

30F and cloudy @ 20:00, headed down to an overnight low of 27F.

New toilet and tile unloaded and moved back to the bedroom.

Taking a break while Wagner Power Steamer cools so it can be refilled.

Goof Proof Shower seat checked for fit, will have to be cut down from the 30" to the 24" version. Preliminary decision made, as to which wall it's getting mounted on ... :D

Also checked Redi Niches for fit and location.

Screwed in a 2 x 4 on top the ceiling joists for the stairs going into the basement so I can crawl up there and handle the insulation that has fallen down.

All towel rack, tp holder, and window covering hardware taken down and removed.

Last of the backsplash tile around sink removed.

36" x 42" wall mirror removed and stowed behind The Woman's armoire for safe keeping.

The Woman steamed off the wallpaper on the one wall the mirror was on.

Some scraping and removal done of the old mastic on the entry threshold into the shower.

Most of the mastic that was used to adhere the vinyl flooring removed:

IMG_0730 copy.jpg
Section on the upper middle left is after the first pass which removed the worst of it, it still needs hit again though to get the last of the adhesive.

That stuff (the adhesive) was near impossible to remove with a heat gun ... it was probably 1/32 to 1/16 thick, with the bottom layer of the linoleum still stuck to it.

It was apparently water-based ... so Wagner Power Steamer took care of it in short order ... thought it might ... turns out that was correct ...

Progress ...

Got a Wagner steamer. Thanks for suggestion it works to remove mastic. I need to redo my downstairs powder room flooring.

Worked slick as snot here ... hope it does for you as well ...

Got my supply valve for the toilet freed up ... used a little WD-40.

I'll be pulling the toilet ... just as soon as The Woman finishes the deep cleaning/detailing on it ...

Ain't no reno debris getting out of the house here unless it's sparkling and shinin' ...

:confused2:

OK, let me try to recreate my answer for Jim

My understanding is #2 must have ac power. Whether that can be be by passed with a generator I don稚 know for sure, but suspect a generator would be set up with a transfer switch to protect against backfeed. So I don稚 think you inverters would be powered unless wired for that case. I have gridtied neighbors that when grid goes down, no power. Upgrading to battery backup is often a challenge as the inverters are compatible. The Tesla Powerwall is AC based and the DC version never released last I checked.

RNG and I have basically the same system, except I don稚 have grid. Our PV charges batteries via charge controller which in turn power the inverters. Via software they can accept AC in or not. AC in either grid or generator powers the charger side of our inverters. Basically should the power company run a line I could simply make the connection and change my settings. Likewise, should RNG lose his grid, he would just adjust settings.

Good luck with yours and hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you,I knew from following your posts that either of you would have a good idea of what the truth is. My system,David, is grid tied with net metering but as yet no batteries or generator for back up. We only had one previous shut down by the power co. that was only a couple of hours several years ago. This last one was 18 hours and since I use oxygen 24 hours now
it was a problem. I have a new Baldor DG6E gen set that I am going to have wired in with the proper transfer switch. I realize this won't carry the whole house load but will carry the essentials.

Thank you both for your knowledge.

Good evening all. 42F for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light to moderate wind, mostly sunny, and high temp was 60F. Wife and I got signals crossed so missed chapel, we did the DASH meal deliveries, watched some football, worked on golf cart side curtains, and napped.
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson unchanged, local unchanged.
DF great story
Roy sorry about no snow, that happened to me once or twice while living in STL.
Bill enjoy a day off
Drew sorry about no meeting of your congregation, glad birdhouses delivered intact
Ron good job getting down to 1 book shelf. Good news on son
Randy have fun putting up decorations

Mike hope truck project goes well, and septic issues don't break the bank
RNG Glad new solar on line and working. hope you get neighbor squared away.
Ted pic of the lights when they are up(if he does not do a video), nice gingerbread men
David enjoy the football.
RS hope the plumbing work does well, with minimal upset from the wife :)
RS you and Doug have same issue.
Eric, I hate it when I loose a day, sorry about the grilling.
Don interesting point about no extra deaths due to Covid.
Kyle with tighter ring gap and the rings seat, should be good to go. Keep revs down and don't open throttle fully for a couple of hours.
Doug good to hear you got some rain.
Randy as it should be
Dennis good to hear main heat back up and running. 8 years on a temp connection?
RS looking good

Good morning all. Apart from the squelch of my wellie boots on sodden ground, there was scarcely a sound to be heard outside. Not even a single honk from a skein of low flying geese that briefly appeared through the mist. All the songbirds were staying silent too, which I suppose is a good tactic when you can't see a hungry predator approaching.

Ron, good to hear your son has recovered enough to get back to work.

Good afternoon! 39˚F at sunrise and 60˚F now, clear skies.

Was in Rosenberg yesterday for a family function - it was wet - they have been getting our rain, 6" the last week. visited my nephew on his new mini ranch. He already has 2 tractors and two riding mowers and the house he bought already had a huge tractor shed. He just got finished moving a storage container on a slab. He would fit in good here.

Johns Hopkins: U.S. Death Rate Remains Normal Despite COVID-19

The total number of all deaths in the US is remaining the same.

Even though John Hopkins withdrew the research article A closer look at U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 - The Johns Hopkins News-Letter
JH is still leaving up an access to the research article. Interesting numbers game. But it does make you wonder why there were not are no more total deaths in 2020 than there were in 2019 or 2018.

Favorite wood to burn is Post Oak. Smells like BBQ. It's also the wood used at award winning Snow's BBQ in Lexington TX.

Those almond balls sound interesting. anyone have a recipe? Bet they could adapted easy to be plant based with almonds and dates as the main ingredients. The spices are always the secretes to the best recipes.

Don, I've read similar info on the total US deaths...it does make you wonder.

BTW, isn't smelling Snow's BBQ cheating for you? :)

good morning all.
Cold morning, 28 out now going up to only 41 today.
Food shopping first thing, then trip to lumberyard for more cedar boards.
Santa's workshop still has one last batch of birdhouses to make.
Going to suck up a bunch of propane getting garage warmer today.

read an article that putting humidifier near cut fresh xmas tree made it last longer, so that's what I did, though I still
add water to base every couple of days. Humidity in living room staying in 50 percent range which is comfortable.

hope you all have a pleasant day, envy those of you with woodstove you can stay toasty warm by.

if you can, everyone should see the Pearl Harbor memorial in Hawaii. When I was there 30 years ago there were still a slow stream of
bubbles coming up from bottom.

/ Good morning!!!! #123,098
Good to see the Bing photo today is of the World War II memorial with the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Dedication...2,403 U.S. citizens killed that day.

33 going to 39. Yep, Buppies, the local weatherman says we may get up to 2" of snow this morning. Would be nice.

Ron, glad your son is doing better.

RNG, do you have that model endoscope? I'm seriously interested in getting one, but not sure how to find a good one. Is 2 megapixel enough?

Alien, glad you got some rain.

Had a beautiful hike up in Shenandoah yesterday...Turk Run trail...the streams were up due to all of the recent rain, so put some waterfalls at peak. Saw very few people but the trailhead parking lot was busy...most people hiked in the other direction. This particular trail is "horse friendly" but saw no horse sign (manure/tracks) until I was about 50 yards from returning to the parking lot...2 men riding horses were just starting out on the trail. Looked like fun.

32 outside this AM. Heading to lower 40's. Much talk of snow here, but I think it will not come this far north. wngsprd maybe as far as it comes.

Today I am awaiting the septic/drain field inspectors and local government types.

Started screwing in the porch deck last night. Figured I needed to be doing that, instead of nothing.

Should be interesting next couple of days here.

Daughters big on horses in Shenandoah, but you need a good bomb-proof trail horse as some areas are a little tricky. She does Graves Mountain a lot, wngsprd.

Hope all have a good day, be safe, stay healthy my friends.
