29° here. Might explore a harbor freight, then it's football watching.

I don't have a remote meat thermometer either, just the one with display on the end.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 58° with light rain. Heading to 60° with partly sunny skies. Yesterday wife's doctor called to tell her all her test came back negative. She will be visiting a Endocrinologist next year. Test show that she has a high thyroid hormone. How that causes symptoms of ALS. We will find out in the near future.
Off to my sisters place to help with last dinner of 2016 this afternoon. Ribs and Shrimp. Glad she lives only 1 mile away. As always we will be sleeping when the New Year arrives.
Eric, you mean remote thermometers have not made it to UK yet? :confused2: They work well on any type of cooking from Induction to Wood.
Good Morning All.

That is more great news. Prayers they can find out what is going on.

Good morning! 54˚ 83% humidity hitting 70˚.
Happy new years eve.
I started clearing the East fence line trail yesterday. I got about 100 yards done. It's slow work mostly hand work from a neglected trail last cleared 10 years ago. My goal this year will be to complete perimeter fence line trail. Ron gave me a good head start.

No resolutions needed, the one made after my incentive attack stuck 6 years ago.
At least Riptide is refreshing honest in his non-incentive inspired non-resolution. :)

Ron,
how high was the number on the thyroid hormone? Was this the fist time her thyroid was tested?
When you say next year do you mean next week or when you get back to Michigan?

One of the 13 different things that can mimic ALS is a hyperthyroid.

42 this morning and headed to 43 today. Rain off and on and on and off all day.

Got the auger in the feed bin yesterday. Motor hung. All that's left is wiring. Will be setting it up for generator or grid power. The grid power will require an upgrade so for the time being it's going to be a generator setup. Don't worry all disconnects, no breakers.

Finish up Christmas' today. Since some were canceled last weekend because of sister's sick kids. Take care of birds. That's about all that's planned. Haven't made bed before midnight in 2 weeks. Might try to sleep the New Year in. Stay safe everyone.

110. It's the first time for that type of test that we know of. Probably next week. Getting another opinion from Mayo Clinic was what wife's doctor wanted. He got the referral for us.

Randy, we insert a digital temperature probe (with remote monitor) into thickest part of the roast, bake at 500 degrees for 5 minutes/ lb., then turn off oven and leave door closed. The internal temp will keep rising, just take it out when it's where you want it. Works best if you have normal bake cycle on your oven, convection bake (with fan) cools oven too fast.

I did a 6# standing rib roast for Christmas Day and it came out perfect.

One thing I failed to mention is that, your roast needs to be taken out of refrigerator at least 4 hours prior to cooking to allow meat to get to near room temperature. This step is every bit as important as not opening oven door after oven is shut off.

62°F and no rain since midnight.
Last day of the year!!!! Where did it go?

So a bit on the Resolution party. Not that much. They had about 14 suggested topics/suggestions scattered about the place like a scavenger hunt. The task was to wander about and right down any of interest as a basis for a resolution. I wandered but didn't find any I wasn't already doing. Wife and I have a pretty positive approach to life :). Would have been a great opportunity to gather and discuss but the mode was o just keep it to yourself. It was a diverse enough group that discussion could have been quite fun. As usual the food was great and my wife's stuffed cabbage quite a hit.
Got a bit of mowing yesterday.
Be safe.
Have a great day. Tomorrow is a brand new year.

Me too!

Cold this morning, 20° at daybreak, warming nicely now. All are gathering here for a late Christmas get together. I have to rub a roast, wish me luck!
