good morning all. 35 degrees going up to mid 50's, heavy rain coming in tonight.

I read the ticket I got for expired plate. Holey Moley. $215 bucks. Good thing they throw it out if you show proof of new registration.
Not that I got that many but little tickets like this used to cost 25 to 50 bucks. I'm definitely getting old. Headed downtown to garage this afternoon to take
care of that. Going to check the truck too, something tells me that may be expired also.

Eric, marvelous picture.

Buppies, I think for most of us, after our tractors, a mini ex would be at the top of the list of things you'd like to borrow from your neighbor.

have a nice day guys

the struggles we have to endure while aging can make it very challenging. My problems seem so small when I read what others are going through.

Ron, I've often thought the same thing.

Drew if we can get all I want done the last item is a long stick track hoe rented of coarse to excavate pond. Very ambitious plan not sure how much that will get done but at least I知 trying

If you think that is expensive try getting an overload ticket

If you pass by this way I can surely let you play on it

Good morning, the temp was 4°F when I went to bed (was supposed to be 10 overnight), the high is gonna be 27. Wind SE 6 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

An energy conservation day for sure.

Eric, in my job I need to use both metric and Imperial as well as the U.S system. Most asphalt tanks are built in the U.S. so I need to know the conversion to U.S. from metric. I prefer Imperial, mainly because I was educated in it whenever I went to school. Yes, I am an old coot. I know that miles per gallon is old school, but I know what mpg is and the higher miles is better, than Litres/100 kms where a lower number is better. The speedometer in the Dodge is in kms, but the computer readout I switched to Imperial. My scale I keep on grams. Precious metals are weighed in grams.

Have a safe day all

I mix the two systems. Happy to use litres for gas and litres/100 km for car mileage. Also, I really like using Celsius for temp, because 0°C is the freezing point of water. Just can’t wrap my head around the idea that, say, C 20°F is cold. I keep thinking that, at that temperature, I could put on a light jacket, jump in the boat, and go fishing!

One thing I do enjoy and prefer is inches in feet on a measuring tape. I use them on all my building projects, and I am very used to thinking in multiples of 12 inches, especially for things like sheets of plywood and distances between studs and ceiling joists or rafters.

To each his own!

The sun was about to peek over the horizon as I opened the door this morning. Within seconds it was being chased away by ominous clouds from the north and now is set to stay in hiding for the rest of the day.

There is one area where I only reluctantly use metric lengths and that is with cartridge reloading equipment. Most of the data sources and reloading dies I use originate from America (mostly Hornady and RCBS) and quote almost exclusively Imperial units for case dimensions, headspace adjustments etc. It is sorely tempting to press the button on my verniers and read directly in inches, but I get an uncomfortable feeling that sooner or later I would forget to swap in and out of inches/mm and make a bad mistake, so I convert it all to metric. I do keep my scales set on grains for weighing powder as that doesn't conflict with anything else.

Hope that sunrise was beautiful enough to make up for the weather the rest of the day, Eric!

Personally, I'd be very reluctant to use metric units for any task related to reloading because virtually all of the data out there is in SAE (not Imperial) units. The consequences of a mistake are just too high.

Having said that, though, I spend a fair amount of time on the lathe and mill working on metric parts and using metric measurements, and so far at least, haven't made any mistakes because the digital caliper was set to the wrong range. But I suppose if NASA can crash a satellite because of a conversion error, any of us could screw the pooch, too!

Buppies, I think for most of us, after our tractors, a mini ex would be at the top of the list of things you'd like to borrow from your neighbor.

Yesterday I was at a tool rental shop picking up an extension that will let a neighbor auger the 6' deep holes for the solar array today. I couldn't ignore the row of large excavators parked at the back of the lot, and wondered what kind of qualifications you'd have to have to rent one of them. I could probably make a fine mess with one of those, but it sure would be fun!

Good Morning! Happy last day of January. Today is the last day to renew the 2020 memberships in the neighborhood clubs or they will expire. I have renewed all but pickle ball. I can never seem to find the time to play. I'm doing so bad this quarter in hand and foot I refuse to tell you I struggling in 34th place, after the first month. Those old geezers may have trouble hearing and walking but they are kicking my _____.

Nice sunrise pic Eric. Ron looks like the deere are escaping the cull by hanging around your place.

Need to head to the garden, (today or tomorrow) the Gator is leaking oil, I think the oil filter needs tightening.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. High around 65F. Winds light and variable.

Lots of choices for an inversion table in the local Facebook ads, DIF. I'll keep an eye out for an Invertalign, but wonder if are there other brands worth considering?

When I asked the internist how long I should lay upside down on the table, he suggested that a half hour would be OK . But he also warned not to go fully inverted, at least at first, and that somewhere between 30° and 45° would be a good place to start.

There was an awkward moment at the urologist's yesterday when I had to drop trowel for the digital exam: I had my concealed carry with me and didn't want to startle him. He didn't mind at all, and we had a nice discussion of calibers and favorite makes while he did the deed. When he reviewed my x-rays, he didn't find any kidney stones, so I feel like I dodged a bullet. Maybe the hard water here has been a help; the calcium in it will bind with the oxalate in my gut, letting it pass harmlessly through my system. But when I asked him when my next appointment with him would be, he smiled and said probably never. He's retiring. I congratulated him, then asked for a referral. He shook his head and told me he didn't have one. Apparently there's a shortage of qualified urologists in the area, and I was told to keep my eye out for a younger, good one.:confused2:

When I figured the number of fence post concrete bags I'd need, I used 0.6 cu. ft./80 lb. bag because that's what was listed on HD's web site. But when I went to pick up a load of 'em yesterday, the clerk said they only sold 50 lb. bags. :confused2: The Ford doesn't have the capacity to carry all that are needed in one load, but I still had to re-figure the number. Turns out 36 was half what I'll need, so that's what I bought. Come to find out someone had punched holes into the bottom row of bags on the pallet they wanted to sell me, and the loaders didn't want to remove them before putting that pallet into the truck. I stopped them; I didn't want that mess in the bed, either. They reluctantly agreed, but apparently that led to some uncertainty in their count, so they threw a few extras on top. When I got home, I learned that the Kubota's FEL wouldn't lift the pallet, even after I'd taken 400 lbs. off. Pulled off another 400 lbs. and I was good to go, but then had to move the other 16 bags. Decided to just pile 'em on the forks, 8 on each fork, but when I got to the shipping container, only one tine had bags on it. I didn't see 'em fall of because I was going backwards to get to the container. And then one bag fell off again when I went back for the 8. I was hoping to avoid lifting any of those bags, seeing as how I'm now shopping for an inversion table...:confused2:

The generator's supposed to show up today, and I know from yesterday that the FEL will lift somewhere around (36 - 16) x 50 ~= 1000 lbs. The generator weighs almost 1300 lbs., so I hope the delivery truck has a lift gate on it. But if it comes early enough, the neighbor'll have his giant backhoe here, so maybe we can use that. Otherwise, it could get interesting. One thing I know for certain is that I need to get the landscape rake off of the tractor and put the box blade on: I'll need all the ballast I can get if I end up having to use the forks on the tractor...

I have an ironman inversion table it's very solid. I never go inverted longer than a few minutes. Once you learn to relax your spine will release like a zipper and there is no need to stay on it any longer.
