Good Morning Everyone!!!

A mixed sun/cloud 41ºF was today’s low; 67ºF presently with conditions unchanged which may be close to today’s high temperature. Rain and possibly a T-storm tonight and a sunny day tomorrow. Today was a surprise; I need to take advantage of the dry weather. I made blackened Mahi Mahi in the air fryer last night. We were both impressed. I want to thank all of you air fryers out there for introducing me to a new kitchen toy that will be used often.

David- Awesome water drill you devised:cool: Thanks for sharing your project.

Claye- Thanks for the old steam locomotive pictures. I really like those old trains. Good luck with the jury duty.

I hope everyone is having a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 9:00AM. Mostly sunny. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High around 80F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

A little warmer today; yesterday was a bit chilly in the shade. Too many mosquitoes as well ruled out relaxing on the patio. The day ended with very dark skies to the east; I bet lots of folks in the mountains got wet!

Glad the water drill is working for you, David! Hope you get all the way through next time you try.

Thanks for sharing the train pics/videos! Last time I saw one was outside of Silverton, Colorado, and it was a tiny thing in comparison.

Yesterday I ordered a rebuild kit for the viscous coupler in the van's front differential, and today will track down a pair of bearings and snap rings that support it. The VC uses a special silicon fluid that expands when friction from the spinning plates heats it, which causes the coupler to lock up like a stack of clutch plates. Traction from the front wheels when you need it, less drag when you don't.

Turns out Yakima rack locks will work to keep the new awning on top of the van where it belongs, so got a set of those on order as well as some spiffy chairs that collapse to 1/16 the unfolded size.

I've the remains of a downed tree to move before I can finish mowing, so I'll take a whack at that today. Then maybe a little pruning before tackling the big uphill meadow. If the prunings are small enough, the flail will mulch them up just fine, saving me a lot of bending over...

But first, a call to the insurance agent to find how what's holding up the settlement check on my claim. By state law, they had 40 days to pay up after they accepted the claim, and it's been months.

Smells like Spam frying to me! You get a lot of it, most to Gmail accounts.

"Smells like Spam frying to me!"- Randy. RonJH- I would go with your first gut reaction. I do not even like the email address.

I think it will be a bad year for ticks around here this year. I saw a dead one on our upstairs bathroom wall last week, and about a half hour ago I watched one walk across my laptop monitor while sitting in my easy chair. The last thing someone with neuropathy wants to see is a tick on his/her person.:(. I'll spare everone the "visual," but now I am sitting here as tick chum.

Soon we'll be off to the "Big City" and its large recycling center with a truckload of metal junk that has been accumulating around here. Sometimes it's free to dump depending upon the mood/whim of the supervisor. Then to a restaurant with a picturesque view of the Valley and reportedly good barbecue. We'll see.

I hope everyone is having a manageable day today.

Jay, I've already found two ticks on me, and another on my wife.

I got the area of "weed beat down" completed (weedwacking) along the corral fence line. Just as I finished, when I stepped away from the fence line, there was a medium sized rattlesnake about 2' in front of me! Reaction was to swing the weedwaker towards it. Just then the snake tried to strike. I barely caught him with the weedwacker. Stunned him enough so as to give me enough time to get back. Went and got a shovel, no more rattler!

I will usually leave them be if they are way out in the field, but this guy was only about 50' from the house....too close for comfort. Too close of a call for me. I'll definitely be more watchful now for sure!

Still no word on a delivery date for the tractor. Dealer said he "upped the price" hoping to get a reply. He said the oil fields were paying crazy high amounts, and all the truckers were going there. I'm just crossing my fingers at this point....

I haven't seen a tick out here in 25 years! I have actually counted probably less than 10 mosquitos in the last 5 years! One of the few good things about living at 7,000' in the high desert.

LS, mosquitoes at that altitude have to catch a ride to get there!

Had a tick crawling on my head last week, after I mowed and then showered, he hadn’t settled on a spot yet.

Good evening all. 67F for the start, overcast, calm wind. Moderate wind in afternoon, brisk tonight, looked like rain most of the day with a few peaks of sunshine thrown in, high temp of 83F. Got some cool days next week with more rain. Bike ride to start the day, then an hour of boat therapy:D nap pizza run and dog walk to finish day
David good luck on your propane line projecy.
RNG, sounds like progress. Hopefuly finish the vibration and start on interior
Ron good luck selling your aerator.
Randy nice stools.
Not a big tick fan myself, there are a lot of the in the Ozarks.
Prayers for all.

I think I would rather put up with mosquitoes than rattle snakes.

I'll take rattlesnakes any day.

They give you warning when they spot you instead of sneaking up and sticking their beak in you.

And they're relatively rare, at least they have been here since I cleared out their habitat for a safe distance around the house.

They're also sensitive to shovel therapy, and it's fun to watch the buzzards snatch them up for a meal.

Yep, I'll take a rattler any day...;)

A mixed day on my propane line project. 2nd section of sleeve went in readily, so about 2/3 way across that section of drive, then operator errand. Pushed section about 6 inches too far making it impossible to attach next section. Ended up bunging up the threads making it impossible to attack. Without the 3/4 pipe attached, not seeing enough water pressure for the nozzle end and suspect it is blocked. Have to either craft a work around or pull back about a foot and hope I can get a 3/4 die on to dress threads. Also need to replace the 3/4 cap on end I sledge hammer. Full touristy day planned for tomorrow so likely Thu.
