Has anyone played the German card game Skat, pronounced scott. It started in Altenberg Germany in 1810. My grandparents and father and uncles played it. I know how to play it basically but the finer points i usually have to review. My Dad played it until he could no longer see the cards - but he still drove his tractor.

I guess I was somewhere around 10 years old when my Dad taught me how to play cribbage. So my favourite card games are in order of preference; cribbage, rummy, hearts and euchre. Never did like canasta.

Nice fox. Great looking tail.

ahhh the good old days, before tv, when Saturday night card games were common.
My parents played bridge with the doctor who delivered me, close friend of my Fathers, for almost 20 years.
They would all drink and smoke too much. The good doc's wife must have been the DD.
But he never had to worry about his driving after all, poor guy died from two bee stings
. Even with epi and rescue squad there relatively fast.
Always wondered how the hospital couldn't save him. Early 1960's.

I never played cards much, little skill, not a gambler.

Shower felt good, got all the fertilizer and insecticide spray off me. Pulled the water wagon behind the JD garden tractor.
Got the entire place done, all the potatoes and all the collards. I expect them to all look darker green tomorrow.
Used about 100 gallons in all. Neem oil, spinosad and concentrated fish and kelp extract. Bonus, no smell.
I only have to do this fertilizing once so nice to know next thing is harvest in June. Actually next thing for the potatoes is running
a bush hog over the stalks a few days before harvest. So now they are fed and coated with insecticide and that's about all I can do.

mowing and watering on tap for tomorrow after seeing arthritis doc,
who thankfully is about 14 minutes away, second floor of the hospital.

boy I'm pushing down on the throttle and just nothing is happening. Like I'm in limp home mode.
what a difference being off the steroids. Now everything is back to hurting.

Well, I'm disappointed....dealer called a little while ago...supposedly the 5 star rated shipper "cancelled" an hour before they were supposed to pick up the tractor. How do they get five stars if they do that?..... I'm starting to think it was BS.... Now it is again listed out for shipping bids.. So unknown ship date... I'm having second thoughts about not going with Bruno's out of Arkansas. They would have been cheaper ... But I was trying to avoid this BS to begin with.

OK, I 'm done ranting... For now...

".... boy I'm pushing down on the throttle and just nothing is happening. Like I'm in limp home mode. what a difference being off the steroids. Now everything is back to hurting."- Drew. Powerful drugs have powerful side effects and the inherent withdrawal reactions. The "hurt" will hopefully return to pre-Prednisone levels.

Ted- The tractor is coming..... Vent all you want.

In place
IMG_0281.JPG

Working it
IMG_0628.JPG

About 6ft in ( about 1/3 distance)
IMG_0282.JPG

Soil is clay. Concerned might not work, but it does.

Hope to get next 12 ft tomorrow.
Point is to leave the 1 1/2 in PVC as a sleeve. Likely just the 3/4” iron pipe would be easier.

It's been a really nice day. The high was in the mid 60's and partly cloudy with a little wind. I even got a few things done this afternoon.

We got up early and went down to see the train. It end up being two locomotive and tenders plus baggage cars and passenger cars. I didn't think it's was going to stop but it did. It block the state highway for about 20 minutes. There was about two hundred people at the crossing, more then I thought would be there. The second locomotive was UP, No 844 it was the last steam engine that the UP had bought. I think it was well worth the the trip. It was only about 30 miles from the house.

I get to go to the courthouse tomorrow morning to see if I get picked for jury duty. I'm not looking forward to that. The county seat is 45 miles away it takes about a hour to drive it.

Hope everyone has a good evening.
CWB.

They really do have very good prices. The problem with their "free shipping" is that you have to wait until they have other deliveries in your area. When I was negotiating a deal, they could only say "between 1 and 6 weeks". I have heard of people having to make their first payment and don't even have the tractor yet. I didn't want to experience that! Especially out to our area...they don't come out this way too often.

I was laid over in a truck stop in MA (I think it was MA) one weekend and 4 total strangers got up a game of euchre. When we tired of euchre, I taught them how to play hearts.

Thanks for posting. Wonder if they could convert those steam engines to natural gas or LNG??? And if it'd be worth it?

There is nothing like the sound of a steam locomotive, throttle wide open, just going for it. Fantastic. and the photos.
There was a passenger express left out twenty past ten every night and on a still night you could hear it from when it started from the station, gradually increasing in speed and faded away as it tore out across the swamp. Going like h.ll Music

Don, Hand & Foot has been the card game we play last few years.
Wife and I play against each other and then we usually play Guys vs Girls when 4 or 6 of us. With wife’s sister here, guys are up 2-1 currently.

I developed a scoring sheet in Numbers for iPad/iPhone. Can be modified for Excel. Willing to send to anyone and you can adapt to local rules

My wife said she played Hand and Foot with an older lady from church recently. We never heard of it before. Wife said she doesnt remember enough to teach it.
