I had the good fortune to briefly meet Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles, around springtime of 1972, near Milpitas, CA. A Chicano friend I’d met going to business management school for Enco, now Exxon had an older sister that was friends on some level with Carlos. Miguel rode to class with me, I drove in from Stockton everyday. His parents owned a huge Enco station at the intersection of two major freeways, and they lived in a huge house with a multi car sized garage. One day we had been to the refinery in Benecia to tour the facility as part of our classes, when we got back to Miguel’s house there was a nice conversion van parked there. I’ll skip to the good part, in the garage Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles we’re jamming away with a local Mexican or Chicano Latin rock band. It was a Friday afternoon and we hung around for a while being awed. Carlos I believe lived in NorCal, not sure what brought Buddy there. As I recall it was just before the album, Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles Live, was released. It was recorded a couple of months or so before. I had just gotten back from SE Asia the previous fall. Miguel was critically injured in crash on his Sportster a couple weeks after that and I never saw him after that. I talked to his mom on the phone for several weeks, then lost touch.

The only other real celebrity I saw in my time in California was George Liberace, brother of Liberace.

Did you operate the skid steer? Nice looking benches and table.

Nope I have't taken the class yet. The table and benches are made from pecan wood from a tree that died on property. We have very talented residents. Another resident makes all the trail signs with a router in his garage. Tomorrow the hiking club does a marathon around Lake Georgetown. 26.2 miles. My knees are not quite up to it so I get a rest day to work in my yard.

Cool. You saw them as a "garage band". :)

Don, neat benches/table.

Drew, don't forget to take a breath every now and then.....come up for air. I can't ever get strawberries to survive. I think Bird's rabbit cousin keeps pruning them to the ground.

Well, despite covering with plastic, all 12 tomato plants died according to my daughter. $8 bucks and 2 weeks down the drain...roll the dice.

Time to work on the Takamine guitar's string height/action some more. Bought some new strings too.

Prayers for all. Ron and Betty, I hope the occupational therapy helps.

Good evening all. 45F for the start, overcast, light wind. Wind perked up pretty good, overcast in morning peeks of sunshine in the afternoon, high temp of 69F. Weird day today, wife woke up at 4, I had trouble going back to sleep, I woke up in time for her to go back to bed. Had to do some printing for stepdaughter, then energy conservation mode till lunch. Bike maintenance, then nap. Laptop repair this evening, got a overheat warning while watch a Iditarod program from the internet. Fan was fine, blew out the fan ducts and no more issues.
Hope people are getting healthier, have not read about very many setbacks
Kyle, sorry about your tomato plants, Hope guitar repair goes well.
Watch Carlos play in a garage is one of the coolest thing I have heard.
Drew nice progress :drink:
prayers for all.

Good morning. After a day of what turned out to be continuous rain yesterday, it has dried up overnight and looks to be staying that way for the rest of the morning.

Ron, the extra guttering is to link both the north and south slopes of the roof. My thinking is that if I put some filtration in, I won't have to clean out stinky storage tanks as often as I do at my other shed and I will be able to use low pressure float valves on water troughs without them constantly blocking. I've yet to fix a galvanised tank I've had in storage for the last 5 years and work out the best way to remove leaves from the first flush drop pipe, but with David to mentor me once he's finished his roof, it should all eventually come together fine.

Drew, cutting spuds at 4:30am! Hope all that activity yesterday gave you a good night's sleep.

-10°F and going to a high of 27. Wind W 11 mph. Mainly sunny.

The new chainsaw is in and I will be picking it up today. I will spend tomorrow charging up the batteries (cheap hydro rates on weekends and overnight).

I am in 'energy conversation mode' until about 9/10, then go get the saw and some bar oil. I will spend the rest of today RTM.

Have a good day all

First cup of coffee is almost empty. 8° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 37° with mostly sunny skies. Did not get much done yesterday. I think I am coming down with Davids sore throat. Chicken Soup and other medicinal drinks to head it off. OT with wife and a trips to Costco and Sams Club.

My Aunt has been in hospital off and on the last week with a mini stroke and yesterday a seizure. She is youngest of 10 aunts and uncles on my mothers side. More like a sister than aunt to me. She sure can use some prayers.

Eric, I understand your water project. Lots of help from David and others.

Looking , waiting on chainsaw report.

Don, that skid steer would be a interesting machine to learn.

Drew, nice straight rows.

David, send more pictures. Looks warm in HI.

Prayers for everyone.

Good Morning All.
