Good morning!!!!

Well sun finally made it out. Up to about 60 here. Warmer tomorrow. Need to be thinking about fertilizer. Rain starts back Saturday.

Drew. Serviced kubota yesterday. MX5200 so service cost should compare to your tractor as they're roughly the same size. 440 hours on tractor. Last service was at 75 hours. Attached is picture of the receipt. Your dealer is way off on his air filters. IMG_1142.JPG

I only use compressed air to blow out air filter when needed. Sometimes multiple times a day. Filter installed at 75 hours. Blown out many times and here is what it looks like now. Don't remember last time it was cleaned. Probably a month ago. IMG_1141.JPGIMG_1140.JPG

Inner filter still looks new. I'll save old air filters to reuse in an emergency. Just clean and go.

A warm 82 and windy. The things that sting and bite are out. Whipper surprised me yesterday by catching a 20 pound pig. She didn't need dinner. Here is a pic of a stingy thing on the trail. There was a long snake on the road and when I got out of the truck to get pic of it it transformed into a fan belt.IMG_0370.JPG

When I was about four, I went to cross our breezeway to the kitchen, there was a broken fan belt there on the walk, I ran screaming into the kitchen and told mom there was a black snake on the breezeway. She said, that's just a fanbelt, I said, are they poison?!

Saw a bald eagle on the way home. Sitting beside it's nest.

Yep, I was going to take a picture of me holding it like a snake, but just my luck it would have bit me.

Good evening all. 63F this morning, clear and windy. Wind cranked up more than the temp, which made it to 83F, the wind to 35 or so. 2 brief windows for rain, till next Wednesday then over 1 in predicted. Finished mowing today and cut up a flowering crab that fell over before the wind hit

sodamo, my area is engaged with attempting a local government build-out and operations of internet services. It carries a hefty price tag and seeks to expand services throughout the county. For myself, I managed to deploy equipment to boost signal strength captures and then disperse it to the farm accordingly. If you can figure out where your cell towers are, that may be an option.

!

Currently I'm looking here: 4GAS(R) Internet |1-815-25-33 | Rural Internet

If I understand correctly, I'll be able to get a cellular data connection and extend with my own wifi to things like my wx station and Outback, get unlimited data for about $83/mon. No contract. This may prove an acceptable interim, if not long term solution. Who know what technology is just beyond the horizon.

After extensive conversation with my current provider I'm not confident our problems will be solved by end of the month. I think I may have somewhat called his bluff by offering to help with the physical work and pay for the equipment as an immediate fix. His focus seems to be getting the community based group operating with him as the consultant. Personally, if he lets our part of the system die I'll not be part of the group to resurrect it. I expect to have something in place before then.

Eric, sorry to hear of the tragedy in your country.

Yes, that was very sad. You will probably have heard by now that the terrorist, as well as killing and seriously injuring those born in his own country, also killed an American man and badly injured his wife. People from many other countries were also hurt, three French children, four people from South Korea, one German, one Pole, one Irish, one Chinese, one Italian and two Greeks.

In the 90's I worked on schemes to minimize the intentional killing and maiming of innocent people by IRA bombers. It seemed ironic that those supporting modern day terrorism would no doubt be gleeful of their international "success" at the same time others were morning the death of the one time IRA leader Martin McGuinness. History has many lessons, however all far too political for the Good Morning thread.

I got sick of peddling too hard up hills and into head winds and went over to the dark side last week. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/images/smilies/new/cool2.gif
That cheered me up no end. If only human's dark sides could be restriced to where to hide an electric motor and a few batteries. :)

Good morning all. The sun is shining, the wind has dropped and temperatures are about perfect for working outside. That's perfect as I have by my side a pair of Don & Randy's belt snakes to fit to the old Subaru, although now looking doubtful that I will have time today.

Instead I will be stuck inside, as I had some urgent work rejected by a customer yesterday for the simple reason that the code I had written for them did not work. It works for me and the source code has passed their peer reviews too, however when they put it into a control panel for validation, it did not perform as it should. I spent a few hours on it yesterday to no avail and woke up this morning suspecting the cross-compiler they are using that turns the code into something a microprocessor can understand is not performing correctly. That sort of thing is quite rare on a mature product, however in the words of Sherlock Holmes, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth? We shall see.

37out this AM. I hope the freezes are over this year. Looks like all the girls are coming home for the weekend. Full house again, so that is good. And the weather looks nice. No plans other than collect wood for the milk house project and maybe paint a room.

Have a great day all, and a good weekend. Be safe.

30 with 67 in sight.

Got a nice load or firewood cut yesterday, mostly a few small dead oak trees. I cut a couple that needs the splitter. I always leave some of the big dead pines for the woodpeckers.

Riptides, how many girls? Hope you have a nice visit..

There is that word again, splitter. LOL. I was eyeballing an electric one this season, but with the grass greening up, I need to refocus on lawn care equipment. And a working chain saw.

Riptides, how many girls? Hope you have a nice visit..

Three. All in college, all doing full-time jobs. So getting everyone together at the same time takes a plan.

Drew could you get buy with blowing the inner one out and replacing the outer one only?? Common practice in the forklift industry with the dual filter setups.

In farm country we never touch the inner filter except to replace. The outer ones get blown out a few times--maybe more for combines--and then replaced. I don't know anyone that washes one. Fooling with an inner filter can let dust in and it doesn't take much to risk "dusting" or ruining an engine that way. Just my two cents here.

26F here and they say 39 and rain/snow/ice pellets. Wind SE 8mph. visibility 1 mile. We got about 1/2" of snow overnight.

My new rubber/sheep/wellington boots came yesterday. Size EU 45/ 12 US. They got a toe cap so should be legal for work, more or less. I used to wear sneakers when I hauled and sprayed calcium chloride, mainly because they wouldn't shrink/pixie toe overnight if you got some on them. Leather boots today will fit you like a glove, wet them with a little calc chloride and tomorrow you wont be able to get them on at all. I am NOT going to ruin a $200.oo+ pair of boots just to spray that stuff. Hence the sheep boots.
