Good Morning! 49.6F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers in the morning with thunderstorms developing for the afternoon. High near 65F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Though the chances of rain are high, the predicted total is only 0.18", barely enough to settle the dust. And from the looks of the radar images, we'll be lucky to get even that.
You make a good point about moving and friends, Drew. Most of mine are still back where I spent the majority of my career, and I've made only a few since moving. Since retirement, I spend much less time around people, so that has a lot to do with it, but I think it's also because I'm single again and most folks my age are coupled so the third wheel thing is in play. But maybe the real reason is I've come to enjoy my hermit like existence, which leaves plenty of time for projects or just doing nothing. I just wonder when I'll get around to doing nothing.
And why is it that campgrounds usually seem to be in noisy places? Same with m/hotels, too. Close to freeways, rail road tracks, under flight paths, then combine that with the comings and goings of the patrons, and it's best to keep a pair of earplugs handy. All the sound proofing I have planned for the van has been motivated by keeping it quiet inside while going down the road, but it sound's like it'll pay dividends when I'm trying to sleep in it, too.
One of the best parts of hunting for me is the peace and quiet, listening for a leaf to rustle or a twig to snap, but hearing the birds calling, the wind in the trees, and the noises of small animals. So quiet I can hear my neck squeaking as I swivel my head, watching everything around me. Not the time for distractions, certainly a time for airport mode on the 'phone.
With the unsettled weather and no roof on the van, I'm not sure what's on the agenda for today. If the rain holds off I'd like to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and get that set of tires mounted, but that means rolling the van and a motorcycle outside to get to the tire machines. And no quick way of getting them back inside if the rain starts, so I'll have to keep an eye on the radar. I could always stay inside the house and do paperwork, or catch up on some reading, or, gads, do some housekeeping. Or maybe just do a little of all of that and see how it goes, puttering my way through the day?
