The wrong part came in the right box and the rod was 8" short. Try again next week.

the electrical problem rose it's ugly head again and the tractor would not start. The mechanic turned on the emergency flashers with nothing on and they did not flash. From this he surmised it was not the ignition switch or anything in the dash area. He quickly found a sort in a connection about 4" from the battery behind the headlight assembly. I did not see this connection. I think he fixed it so the day was not a total waste. It never did rain.

Don, save your old cylinder. The right guy, with a press and an indicator or 2, can get it reasonably straight again.

The sun has already taken the chill off, although with a cool wind it is not expected to go above 16C/61F today, which is ideal as all the flock are to be gathered in for pre-emptive treatment against fly strike.

Wngsprd, from the pictures I see on Toyota USA website, your new truck does indeed look nice. You are fortunate to have a plant that assembles them locally, I'm waiting for a Toyota from Japan and that is proving tricky. I expected to have a Rav4 hybrid to replace my Honda CRV this month - the taxes here work out much lower for a commercial use vehicle with very low emissions. They haven't yet set up the production line for hybrids in this country, so for the moment these particular models are all imported , not a problem - except mine didn't make it out of their factory before the earthquake that hit them in April, so now I'm set for a long wait. Got to go now, will try and remember to give you a tank (clankety clank type) story later.

64 and fog, going to 78 but more rain.

First full sunny day in almost 3 weeks coming Sunday, so after a day of drying, am planning on a Mow Fest on Monday. This will be the biggest test ever on my mower - tall thick juicy grass.

Roy, hope you can get some rest this weekend.

Eric, if anything like your pond alien story, then I'm looking forward to installment 1 of the Tank Chronicles.

Poured first cup of coffee. 56° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 65° with partly cloudy skies. Yesterdays weather stayed good until 6pm. Then the skies opend up and dumped 1.61" of in about 1 1/2 hours. Unusual to get that much rain in that short of time in this area. Need to cut lawn today. Then take wife to a doctor appointment in late afternoon.
Don, sorry to here about you cylinder problems. Good news on the no start problem.
Roy, hope you get the rest you need this weekend.
Good Morning All.

I was just a kid when my Granny cooked this dish for me, but I remember it being very tasty. It was a while back. I was about 9 years old at the time. This particular possum will always be remembered, as how he was the first animal to go into a large game bag Mamma had made for my Christmas that year. And he was also the first animal to bite me through the new game bag and {thankfully} a thick coat. If you have ever wandered where the expression playing possum comes from. . . .

When our boy was about 12 or so he wanted a rabbit trap so he and I build one. (A box trap out of wood.) The first night he put it out he caught something. he went out and opened the door and it was a possum. He tried to let it out but the possum just stayed put. He tried to shake it out but the possum hung on for dear life. Finely he was able to shake it out and it started running across the yard. He took off after it thinking it would play dead. It turned around and showed it teeth and growled just as the boy caught up with it. The boy was trying to stop but his body was still moving and he kinda danced around it trying not to get bit. The possum took off again and act two started, then act three, ect. His mom and I sat at the window and laughed until our sides hurt. He finely came in saying Why didn't it play dead?!!!! Ed

62 this morning and headed to 78 today. Currently 75. Storms later. 1.25 inches of rain overnight.

NWS confirmed an EF-2 tornado yesterday. About 20 homes and at least one church damaged. A few barns and lots of trees. It was hopping not on ground consistently. But path is around the 10-15 mile mark. Too muddy today for cleanup.

Have some errands to run. Too wet to do much.

Sounds like you live in a rough neighbor hood, praying for everyone involved. Ed

64 going to 77 today, showers likely later, lots to do outside today.
wow, can't wait for tank stories. Eric, you own one?...a bulldozer that can shoot!
let's see, have a cuppa, a little blood pudding, and then go lob some shells into the neighbor's fields.
JollyO!

had to go to Ram dealer yesterday for a nail in the front tire of my truck, luckily in the middle of the tread, very fixable. They could not have been more pleasant, new dealership trying to please for sure, and sent me out with a bill paid for fifteen bucks. Such a deal.
Low air pressure sensor light came on when I started the truck, yup, 30 pounds in there when it should be 40. when they work, TPMS is really a nice feature.
Nice Michelin LTX2's, glad it was fixable. Hopefully today's patches are reliable. Do I really want a patched tire on my rear wheels when towing??? Probably fine but makes one wonder.

I could never bring myself to eat possum, but coon ain't bad done correctly. I can eat squirrel and rabbit, but squirrel is a little greasy, like bear meat.

Squirrel and rabbit were very normal at out house when I was growing up, used to eat more deer than beef and chicken together. Tried groundhog and really liked it fixed it a few times before I quit meat. Ed

Good morning all. 61 going to 76 today. Have rain headed this way this morning. Then only 20% chance this afternoon. Had fun yesterday. Our friend James Easter of The Easter Brothers, gospel blue grass, been going on the road for over 60 years. Came over and "picked one or two for us. Wife's nephews came over and played and sang with him. They play gospel bluegrass as well but are only 18 and 20 years old and were in awe of being able to play with him. James loved it and stayed until about 1:30 so we had a long singing - talking, eating time. Most fun I have had in a while, Long while.

They then helped me load some of the shop and the youngest went with me to the blacksmith guild and one of the guys helped him make a hook. I think he is "hooked". :D

Going to load some more of the shop today and put it in storage. The joy of having to many toys. Ed

They are good at playing dead but when they want to act mean they are pretty good at that too. Here's mine behind the garage.

Ed, are your plans to eventually get the shop stuff out of storage or is that your new tool shed. It must be tough to downsize for the move to the city.

Hoping to do some mowing before we leave.

57 this morning and headed to 75 today with sun. Should start the drying process.

Take dog to the vet this afternoon for annual shots. A couple more errands today and then maybe home in time to go grade a neighbors driveway. Or at least attempt it. Pot holes over 10" deep. His renters are having a hard time getting home.

Drew. If you have the option have them put in a Plug Patch. It's all one piece and tire has to be broken down to put it in. I don't worry about towing with a patched tire but I always know where that tire is and keep an eye on it. Also when you replace the tires go with 10ply. They're about an extra $100/set but the number of flats is greatly reduced. I can't keep passenger tires up here with the gravel and rough roads. http://www.walmart.com/ip/49664781?...88519418&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=91847168978&veh=sem

Well I am back, bet you did not even know I was gone.... Anyway my LapTop blew the hard drive and everything I had with it so I went back to a new desk top. Got a Lenovo system from BestBuy. It is nice to have a 21" screen for these old eyes. I need to catch up but got lots of computer work to do finding all my needed links. :mur:

Hopefully today's patches are reliable. Do I really want a patched tire on my rear wheels when towing??? Probably fine but makes one wonder.

Depends on how they fixed it, Drew. If they applied the kind of patch that goes on the inside of the tire and has a stem that extends up through the puncture, it'll last the life of the tread. If they just stuck a plug in it from the outside, I wouldn't trust it, even on the back wheels let alone the front. That kind can let air infiltrate between the tread plies resulting in delamination and rapid deflation. Not something you want happening, especially if they rotate your tires and it's mounted on the front at the time. :2cents:
