good morning all
up early, slept well
forecast today got wetter, disappointing because I invited a childhood friend over for iced tea outside,
and now it looks like rain. Well, we'll see if the pergola is waterproof...
She is my oldest friend, since she proudly proclaims the memory of holding me in her arms when I was just born.

I'm glad we got through yesterday without something horrible happening, other than the murder of the politicians in Minnesota.
The local protest spot was very well attended, I'm told, peaceful, no confrontation with anyone, singing and signs
and everyone cleaned up afterwards. Not like the city at all. No matter what you believe, it was good protest behavior.
one sign:
The reason price of eggs is up: all the chickens are in Congress.

in 1970 I was spit on by a guy while standing quietly in a Vietnam protest holding a sign in Providence RI,
standing with my short hair and corduroy jacket. I particularly upset folks because I didn't look like
the stereotype they wanted to hate.
One particularly apoplectic guy was yelling at me that I looked like his son and why was I here?
I wonder if today the guy who spit on me would still do it, knowing what we know now.

sometimes in our lives we simply have to stand up for what we believe. Just do it respectfully and as a good citizen.
the whole concept of good citizen makes me feel old. I worry that incoming generations are spoiled to think that they can only
take from society, not give back.
I'm already preaching at my nephews 14 year old to think about volunteerism, the fire dept, hospital, food pantry, something.

1.31 on the rain gauge, cooler weather has settled in
hope your Sunday is enjoyable.

one of the interesting sights at Fort Miles in the Cape Henlopen DE park are the
fire control towers. Not fire as in burning but fire as in shooting at German naval ships and submarines coming up
the Delaware Bay. They had a number of these towers manned, and by using triangulation, they could achieve
good gun firing accuracy. Not sure if it ever was activated, fun local history. (No, Fort Miles never shot anything in WWII)

good morning, 64 going to 70 and rainy conditions expected around 2 PM

Had a nice drive yesterday on a small narrow road that went on and on before getting to any cross road. Wife loves the long drives but this one was too much for her.

Ordered some non shrink grout for the barn project. A cold cut metal circular saw was delivered. Cleaned up tools and left over supplies and trash

Good Morning,
Ct, 56 to start going to 65. Overcast and chilly again. Not exactly pool weather unfortunately.
Today I hope to get the screens and curtains hung inside the gazebo. I also braced a couple of the corners with 1” by 1” aluminum angle to the deck side rails for a bit more support. The gazebo is on our back deck so kind of protected from heavy wind, so that it hopefully won’t affect it. Kathleen should be happy now because she loves to sit outside in the evenings during the warmer months.

So my amateur radio club found out that I’m a CW operator , probably because I contacted one of our other members who was operating a Parks on The Air station the other day. They want me to man one of their CW stations for Field Day 2025. I can go over and help for awhile but can’t spend the whole weekend there without being on divorce court 😂 So I will try and help out Saturday and Sunday morning the best I can 🙏 It didn’t take too long to get back to 25 WPM sending and receiving CW.

Looks like off to church shortly and then I will probably start cleaning up the garage after building this gazebo and the accompanying mess 😉😂.

Hope all have blessed and safe day 🙏

Morning all, 59 going to 62, more rain, about 1" yesterday.
Worked on the JD most of the day, oil change done, hydraulic change done.
Wired for 12v socket done, cables created for towing spot sprayer done.
And hood fixed with new centerpiece, so now I can open it vs. taking it off every time.
Still to do, rewire headlights (connectors ordered) Lube/grease deck etc.

Out to dinner with wife, son and his GF was really nice last night.

Who knows what we'll do today with all this rain though.

Drew, tree falling party , sounds like fun. Saws always at the ready as is my 200' bull rope.

Still need to put new exhaust on my CS490 saw, once I find where I put it

Be well,

Much nicer with new front grill.

And the simple pleasure of opening the hood vs. removing it and the headlights each time.

Good Morning
A damp 58° with light drizzle. About 1-1/8” of rain since yesterday.

Yesterday was a slow moving day, I did get the walls marked for the shelves in the shed, and all the wood for them cut up.

Today it should all go together with the help of one of the boys.

Got a call from a friend that needed a pulley reworked for his street rod. It took a whole lot longer to change the chuck and get it centered up than it did to cut it.

But the 3D printed indicator mount for the tool post came in handy.

Both sons and grandson all came for waffles this morning, one DIL was at work, the other took advantage of the quiet house. Wife was at a farmers market.

Not much planned other than getting the shelves up.

the "on this day" function on my pc seems to be able to grab pics going back 18 years.
have no idea what I was taking pic with at goddaughter's wedding, maybe a flip phone.
Her father was my best friend in high school, tall good looking guy who was very quiet and shy.
We spent several years of our high school going out almost every weekend, looking for some excitement in a small
country town where the sidewalks rolled up at 6pm.

It was a little strange agreeing to be a godfather because it involves, as I understand, following the Catholic faith.
Which I was sure knew zero about but I knew I'd find a Catholic influence if need be. And it never needed to be, she just knew there
was another friendly adult out there she could always trust and have her back in a bad time. I was like a kind of insurance policy
taken out by her loving parents, knowing if they were killed in some accident, their children would not be destitute.
I consider myself an insurance policy that has run to its term limit. She has lots of other support now, husband is airline pilot
and super responsible.

so when the necessary ceremony came for me to attend at some Catholic church,
I was given only one instruction.
Just say yes.
And I did with pleasure.
What I was agreeing to was more of the flexible nature and we all knew it.
one of the most satisfying jobs I've ever had.

Happy Father’s Day

68°F and .59 inches rain.

Really enjoyed watching the Army birthday celebration. Spectacular, positive event compared to the hate mongering and rioting celebrated by the media. Local coverage even more biased.

Sophie back home. life is good. She likes the newly painted doors. Phew.
Likely just take an energy conservation day.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

75F and supposedly mostly cloudy @ 12:00, calling for a high of around 80F.

Rain has moved off to the south so not expecting any precip today but WU says 35% chance so a popup shower is still possible I guess.

Pileated woodpecker out on the suet feeder again this morning when I got up.

Hawk out there now screaming.

Worked on sanding boards for raised beds yesterday using the B&D belt sander. The 36 grit belts make fairly quick work of cleaning them up and leave a reasonably decent finish. Still takes some time though.

Glued up and clamped another long board, should be ready now to have the clamps pulled.

Moved a number of boards into the garage so they would fully dry. Have more to do on that today.

Woman got on a tear weeding flower bed around back, hopefully will get that finished before the thistles start dropping seed.

Loaded up 3 cart loads of pulled weeds and hauled those off to the west side. She wants to burn them after they have dried. Personally I’d just toss them in the compost pile. Not sure burning really gets us anything … beyond some satisfaction knowing that any seeds there will never sprout.

Water Buffalo refilled for the eventual dry periods and repositioned out of that way.

Refueled the Cub.

Uncaged the 2 burning bushes, got those weeded, and mulched:

IMG_3696 copy.jpg

Hauled those weeds up to the compost pile. Bushes will need to be refitted with larger cages as they’ve outgrown the originals.

Also mulched the red maple and the Japanese ornamental:

IMG_3695 copy.jpg

Total of 7 bags of mulch used.

Verified Nest Box No. 1 is occupied by House Wrens.

Agenda for today:

Winds seem still at the moment so may try to get some spraying done.

Ginkgo tree needs uncaged, weeded, and mulched. Same for the largest Rose of Sharon.

Both need larger cages.

Have several more Rose of Sharon that need moved to their forever homes.

Need to assemble new live trap and get that set out.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday.

Been getting my network changed over to fiber all morning and now working on the tractor too.
Slowly worked on it yesterday too. Moving slow as it's warming and the humidity is high.

Good Evening,
Happy Father’s Day to all my fellow TBNers.

Kathleen took me out for an early dinner at a local seafood spot along the shore. Nice quiet day and good worship service this morning.

Hope all have a quiet evening 🙏

I agree, happy birthday to the U.S. Army! Haven't had a chance to watch all of it yet but watched the first 45 minutes. My work/University puts a lot of officers in our military branches. We have some Corp of Cadets in our curriculum, but it is hard to take engineering and be in the Corp. Many have to pull a 5th year to finish their degrees. We call them Super Seniors. Great young people.

One of which that graduated 2 years ago, was a young lady from Las Vegas. Asked how did she end up at our school, she said "I talked it over with my dad and the option of going "contract" with the Navy as a Cadet was their best choice." She said, "I'm accepted to go to Naval flight school, when I graduate. I want to fly P8 Poseidons." I pray she's realizing her goal. While in school, they get very little sleep for weeks at a time. It is extremely tough. Her story is one I tell to many about hard work and perseverance. Just like right now.

Been a bit of a crazy day. Mom's BP was 126/79 this morning, but she takes so many pills and some of which are BP pills. Anyway, she nearly passed out at church. We got her home and comfortable, her BP was really low, so called her home health nurse. Nurse is thinking with her recent heart procedure that the Docs can stop much of the BP medication. She 95 and watching the Walt Disney 1937 Snow White right now. She bought "us" a new TV. An LG 75", Best buy had a special on for Father's Day on this 2024 model. It is simple, and is a smart tv, but it was less than $600. Has a great picture compared to our previous 48" Panasonic 2008 model.

Anyway, I have my bags packed in case I have to rush mom to healthcare. She is still scheduled for a "Watchman" procedure.

We have been getting good rains. Grass is growing fast and really green. Probably be tan by August.

Prayers for our team, our nation, ****** and Ukraine.
