Several, all used and abused.
I've been buying culverts for my land for a few years now. It's something that I'm always trying to find the best price on, and maybe some of you guys are also doing the same thing.

I have half a dozen places to choose from in my area, but for some reason, Lowes has become the cheapest by a huge margin. Before, my farm supply store had the best prices by a few dollars over my contractor supply store. Both are in the $150-$160 range for a 12in by 20ft black plastic culvert with a ribbed exterior and smooth inside. These are what I like and all that I buy. The 15 inch ones are right around $200, but with some negotiating, I've been able to get them down to $185 if I'm buying other stuff.

Last week while at Lowes, I saw some 15in culverts in their garden section. I saw a price of $154 and couldn't believe it. I asked to make sure and was told that was the correct price.

I still had my doubts, but yesterday I bought two of them for that price.

Where I live, I cannot install a culvert. Only the City can do it.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm putting them in on my land and for my interior roads. No city, no regs and no code where I'm at. I did install one 24 inch by 40 ft culvert on one of my driveways that I had to get a permit from the State Highway, but that was pretty simple and straight forward.

24" x 20' CMP culvert $329 each
24" x 10' CMP culvert $127 each

24" culvert band $ 17 each

At the local co-op. Anyone want to guess which way I went? :D

dual wall plastic are really good. the groves hold on to the soil and the smooth interior provides the lowest friction = moves the water the fastest

But the most expensive .
Really hurts if you have several hundred feet of ditches.

How, I am glad you posted this thread.
I was wondering when I could come up with the $600 or more for a 16"X30'
steel cuvert. Now that they graded my dirt county road (only way to back 40 ac.) I really need one.

One county guy I talked with said I needed a 16x30 minimum size, or may only that size, with no safty ends. Did your county guys give you any trouble going plastic? Is there a 16" ID size? I am in Hunt county and their deal is they with maintain it and replace as needed once it is installed you land owner.

Thanks,
Chuck

Is bad Advice two 15 x20 plastic joints would make for a much better job for about 1/2 the cost.

Chuck,

The State Highway decided what I had to use for my driveway. They specified 24inch by 40feet and then add the angled, saftey ends. There was no other option, they said no to plastic, and if I didn't want to do it their way, then it they were not going to allow me to put in the driveway.

I use the plastic culverts for the roads on my land. I've put in over twenty of them so far, and have ALLOT more to go.

Good luck

Wayne,
Nice information you posted. Say did you know that if you went to your profile and filled in where you are from then that would show up in your posts where is shows your name, and joined date and number of posts. I know as soon as I read your reply "I wonder where he is from" and I bet others did also. If you don't want to be to specific at lest perhaps give a general location.
