Heyah Tractor folks,
I deal with many chemicals with my job, including Jet fuels.
So here's the deal on Ethanol, as mentioned above it's a damn good solvent and will clean just about anything out of a fuel system besides metal oxides. It's downfall is it pulls in atmospheric humidity and promotes dissimilar metal corrosion and electrolysis. Not good!
How to fix? Absolutely no Ethanol in your fuels... This may be impossible if you live in places like California light - aka Connecticut!
No options for Ethanol free unleaded here .. :-(
So next best is to install a shutoff and run your carbs mostly dry. But the best fix ( no Ethanol ) is to go Racing or Aviation Fuel - but they are not cheap!
So a good alternative is to use a newer product like Ethanol Shield.
USE ETHANOL SHIELD FUEL STABILIZER ALL YEAR AND DURING STORAGE FOR EASY STARTING

This product actually emulsifies and completely suspends water into the fuel. Stabil doesn't, even their marine stuff!
You can also use a DMGE bearing chemical like Prist or Sludge-b-gone and this will keep the water suspended. But it is not a fuel anti-oxident like Ethanol Shield.
Diesel fuel:
I have many diesel powered pieces of equipment, including a F350. So what does an Engineer use?
Cheapest stuff that works:
Biocides and water dispersant:
SBG – Sludge Be Gone | FPPF Chemical

SDS:
More expensive version:
Hi-Flash Hi-Flo Anti-Icing Fuel Additive | PRIST Jet Fuel Additives & Aerospace Cleaner Supplier
(May be found for "Free" when idiots place an expiration sticker on bottle. Sorta like trying to argue with Quality Engineering when they place an similar sticker with an expression date on packaged Titanium or Nickel welding wire.....)
Oh BTW this is important!
This crap is transdermally toxic - it will attack your liver if you get it on your skin. Wear gloves and don't be
stupid...
Good luck, Blake
