What fuel additives do you use in diesel fuel, I always used them in my Kubota, JD, and in my diesel pick-up,
Anyway my JD I have now has a DPF and I wonder if I can use anything without damaging the DPF?

Also read some guy's are using 2 cycle oil

I use Fuel Doctors: Fuel Doctors | Your Complete Fuel System Conditioner Injector Cleaner I don't know if it's available in your part of the world but the world is a smaller place with the intertubes.

This stuff is used in all diesel tanks, including the big ones for home generators. It saved my 4105 when I had a nasty biological growth in the tank... broke down the 'nasties' to the point where I didn't even have to replace the fuel filter! :eek:ath:

I add 50ml to every 20ltr 'can' of diesel I get.

Looks like some good stuff, but I don't find it for sale in the USA

JD sells winter and summer blended diesel fuel treatment. It is very inexpensive. Like $7.00 for a bottle that treats 52 gallons (winter blend). If in doubt, use the JD stuff in your JD machine.

Why bother with lotions, potions , magic and sorcery?

I tend to agree that the additives are just that.. no way to prove that any of them really work as advertised or that they are necessary.

Anyone up North that has experienced a gelled diesel due to poor winter blend fuel might tend to lean towards the additive camp. I blend my own #1 and #2 50% at the off-road pump so I know for a fact I'm getting true winter blend. Then I also add a winter anti-gel/cetane booster so I know for a fact on a zero degree day I won't have trouble plowing snow. I did my stint with a tarp and torpedo heater trying to thaw a gelled tractor once, never again. 4 ounces of prevention is way easier:)

Yes, wait unit you have some algae growing in your fuel and you'll quickly find "lotions, potions , magic and sorcery" are simple time saving problem solvers.

Why not just run straight #1 diesel and not have to worry about paraffin wax ? The only additive to consider would be isopropyl alcohol to “absorb” water .

Never seen algae here. Tanks are indoors in the shade . Plus enough fuel is rotated through to keep it fresh.
