Front Hydraulic Blade

A quick question
I own a Kubota L2501 and just purchased a front blade for it
I believe it is 5’ model 2736 with skid shoes

My question is should I use the blade in the float position or with some downward pressure
I have a blacktop driveway

Does your blade attach to the bucket, replace the bucket, or mount to the frame instead of to the loader?

It is a “ skid steer” type that attaches to the loader arms

Float if that leaves to much then use small down pressure . If you have to much down your front wheels will come up and you will lose steering

Do you have pictures? I couldn't find a 2736, but saw a 2763. That one says it mounts on a subframe and was made for a BX?

I have this setup. Without float you will be frustrated. Set it down, float it and use curl to set cutting depth/aggressiveness. This is all done once you set your shoes. Mine are set so the loader frame is 4” or so off the ground.

Some times you may not be able to use the float position on the loader,
on some tractors when in float and pushing the load will lift the front tires and put to much load on the blade,
this is because of the geometry of the loader frames. In that case you will need to carry the loader to prevent
lifting the front tires and it will require constant trimming of the loader position.
On a paved driveway the blades weight should be sufficient to get a clean surface depending on how you set your shoes.

I find that float works well on relatively straight flat road but with the variable conditions of the stuff I plow, I am constantly adjusting the blade to avoid too much or not enough cut.

I don’t have the blade in front of me so not sure of the model number
It is a Kubota blade 5-6 long

Most of the time I use a 5’ rear blade with a 2x12x7 bolted on the blade
That works well

If I float the loader on my L4060 my machine tries to run over the blade & the front is a foot in the air. I really need to reengineer the blade with float between the frame & mount.

My old manual home built blade for my L3200 had float & generally worked good. With plow float I really never tried floating the loader, I expect it wouldnt have worked well either.

Generally plows & loaders are to heavy. Leaving the loader in float puts to much weight on the plow & not enough on the front tires.
