Forum Upgrade - Any Issues?

When making a post, words and phrases are getting randomly doubled and other times I can be typing and nothing is going up on the screen. I can quote a post and there are times that the words and phrases get multiplied in the quote also. Is this something that you know about? It sure makes it hard to write a post. When previewing the post, the doubled wording usually goes away in what would be the actual post, but still shows doubled up in the composing section.

i've seen that. been typing.. look up and no text.. then it all comes in one quick jump.. then pauses.

other windows seem unaffected.. so doubt it is the internet connection.. more seems like the software is not echoing the characters back as typed.

The problem is we can't have the reply button without quick reply. So you are either locked in to reply to quote, or using the reply to thread button at the bottom. Maybe we should custom program it?

If custom programming is what it takes, that's what I'd do. If everything is properly structured and assuming the original programmers didn't write spaghetti code, I wouldn't imagine it should be too difficult to enable the reply button while diabling "quick reply" with a few tweaks here and there.

FWIW the double post issue is tied to quick reply.

I suspect that people are getting tired of waiting on "quick reply" to finish (it's very slow) so they click again, resulting in a double post.

There are often ads downloading while you draft a reply. Could that be what is distracting your pc?

That one sounds like a local rather than TBN problem. (Because the composition of your reply is local, until you hit 'post').

It's processed locally by code produced by TBN, hence the problem only happens on TBN.

Not me. I later discover that the first of my double posts does in fact show its correct timestamp when I eventually see it - but that post was never made visible to me at the time. That first post only becomes visible say five minutes later when I try the alternative leave/stay choice - then immediately I see both posts with timestamps five minutes part. (and the Quick Reply box clears).

Muhammad - Don't paint yourself into a corner with custom programming! The providers of VB should be working up a solution for this.

vBulletin has always been a train wreck and sometimes custom programming is the only way to fix certain problems or add new functionality.

Hi Muhammed, I am a new member and really like this site. I am having one issue. The site will not respond when I try to logout. Yesterday, I was logged in and when I tried to logout, It would not respond. After about 30 attempts, It finally popped up a screen that asked, "are you sure you want to logout"?. At this point, I was able to logout. I am trying desperately to logout now. Can you help me with this issue, PLEASE? HLF

As long as you do not select "save my password", you're pretty much automatically logged out when you leave the site and/or close your browser.
If you are concerned about privacy (maybe you're looking at TBN on a work computer) and you're using Internet Explorer, select TOOLS (from the IE toolbar), then INTERNET OPTIONs. On the general tab, you'll see the Delete History button.

Sorry, I cant help. I never log out. I like TBN at my finger tips in an instant without having to log in everytime.

When you click "Delete History", a menu screen comes up that shows what is being deleted...cookies are part of that.

After the forum upgrade, I've noticed that TBN is sometimes slower than molasses in the winter. It happens randomly (almost daily) whether logged in or not, and doesn't seem to be related to any specific page or action. It even occasionally times out, having failed to load at all. Note that it ONLY happens on TBN and other websites load very fast at the same time as I'm waiting on TBN to do... something.

No ad's here... I block em all using my router, hosts file, and software as needed.

There is a thread in this forum on that very thing. On how slow TBN has been since update. I think he had a beta version for you to click on to see if it was faster. Look through the fist few pages in the news forum you will see it. Its titles something like super slow loading pages or something. Im too lazy to look it up right now, and my PC is going super SLOW here now.
