Forum Update - Test it out

When looking at the list of "New Posts" or "Today's Posts", the far right column used to show which forum the post is contained in, as well as being a link to that forum. Is that something that can be retained in the new format? Having the forum name helps me decide whether I want to open the post or move on.

I whole heartedly agree with von-mil on this (post #56) and his post #63 regarding my tractor info.

Sure would like to know what forum is on the title page.

Does anyone else have problem using "paste" on an iPad or iPhone? When adding my photobucket links I always have a hard time. It won't stay available long enough to select it. No problems on any other forum. Did it in current format and test format.

Using an iPhone 6 and typing a couple of paragraphs causes the lower text to fall off the screen.

Using Safari on a Mac and posting almost always seems to cause duplicate posts.

One thing that I use a lot is the "My Profile" link at the top off the page. It is not on the update.

Yes, I noticed that too. Clicking on the icon (the one with your username next to it) does nothing. Prior to this upgrade, a similar click of the icon would bring you to a "My Activity" screen, or "http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/members/username.html"

Well it was nice while it lasted, the jumping adds are back on the iPad in the new mobile format...I guess they are here to stay since many have complained and there has been little response to eliminate them.

Spend the $.99 and get Weblock and never have that problem again. Those ads were driving me crazy on my IPad and that took care of it. Your blood pressure will thank you!

Pretty sure that you were on a part of the forum where the new skin is not enabled, so those would be the same ads from the old skin.
For example, this link will take you to a thread using the old skin: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...80-ktac-insurance-agency-kubota-endorsed.html
And, this link will take you to a thread using the new skin: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/related-topics/288183-triva-fun.html
A quick way to tell is if the poster's info (join date, location, post count, etc) is in boxes (like on this thread) or if its just separate lines of text.

Thanks Aaron, I see what your saying...so some threads are showing in the old format and some in the new, that seems very strange but that is indeed what is happening.

I think the new skin has to be enabled on a forum by forum bases, so some forums get it, but others don't.
For example, everything in Kubota Owning and Operating should be the old skin and everything in Related Topics should be the new skin.

I had your exact thought and re-read the first post of this thread, which makes more sense to me now.

That's not the new format. Some pages are still on the old format as I mentioned in the first post.

Thanks guys, I stand corrected. I was just frustrated when I saw it this morning. Carry on, kudos to the staff for all the hard work.

Kenny, I turned on the compatability mode in the hopes of fixing the "slow" typing problem in replies, instantly got the ads. Turned it off and life is once again God here in God's Country.

Excuse me for my ignorance Moss. Is that something I have control of?? Probably not.....

Yep. But as I recall, its kinda hard to find in Internet Explorer. I switched from Internet Explorer to Chrome and/or Firefox, depending on computers being used, and I don't have that problem anymore.

Gotta say, I just tried the new version again on my phone, and I still hate it.

Not liking the absence of my home. I have TBN "my homepage" bookmarked, so I can pull it up that way, but I cannot find a way to get to my home once already on TBN.

The menu also does some crazy things with the phone sideways. Like it cannot make up its mind if it wants to display everything like the PC version, or just the 3 lines. And when its just the 3 lines, I can open it and select forums, and there seems to be a sub menu that has "new posts", "PM's", etc. But that sub menu only stays open for half a second then closes closes everything and just goes to the main forums homepage.

Just not user friendly at all on my phone.

My only complaint about the PC version though is the not jumping to first unread. I am so used to clicking on thread titles, I always forget. I say we go back to opening first unread when clicking title. Those that dont like jumping to first unread, can always click page 1 right below the thread title (or whatever page they want). So with the old way, you already had an option of where you wanted to go in the forum.

Not on mobile device.

aha! Mine neither.

And with the mobile device, when you turn it sideways, it goes crazy. It seems it cannot deicide to display the 3 lines for the menu like when holding the phone vertical, or to expand it and look similar to the PC version (but with different options).

Does yours do that?
