Flying Anvil

I have Dial up so I didn't get to see it. Wife and I watched " Sweet Home Alabama" last night and the general was shooting anvle over the fence, didn't show them being shot just landing.

I'm sure there are lots of practical applications to this technology...I just can't seem to come up with one........I always thought I needed and anvil...Now I know I need 2!

Are most anvils hollow like that on the bottom? I have a 160 pound one and I don't remember it having a hole there.

Don't know that I would be leaning over it when placing on top of the other, get a spark from that metal to metal/powder contact and could be "flying anvil owner" thread!

you wouldnt get a spark due to the legal pad paper thats used to keep the powder charge in the upper anvil thus separating the 2 anvils by a single sheet of paper.

and that location is relatively speaking, in my back yard.

The idea used to be to demonstrate that the anvil was made of quality steel and was of high quality. WARNING, do NOT try that with a cheap Chinese anvil from Horrible Freight. You'll be on the evening news and, if you live, likely in prison for killing those around you.

Most anvils are cast (upside-down in the mold) and have a cavity of some sort in the bottom due to shrinkage of the metal as it cools. That one looked to me like someone had done some machining in there to enlarge the cavity and make it more regular in shape.

I am just happy to hear that I could be the world champion of something someday...grin
