Are your dealers the ONLY place to buy filters and other common maintenance items? JESUS!!!!! You would think there was an online source for all parts tractor. OMG!!! WHY does it have to be so hard!!! Rant over. B.

There should be lots of online cross reference guides; Baldwin Filters comes to mind as a great source. If all else fails, I have printed books that have all applications for drive belts, bearings and seals, as well as a bunch of filter and spark plug books from different brands.

My last ones i got from napa. Also oreillys carries some of them or can be cross referenced.

I tried a cross for Napa and O'Reileys and neither shows a cross for the engine or hydraulic oil filters using the factory part numbers. AND, by application O'Reileys doesn't show anything at all and Napa shows SOME stuff but nothing for direct application. Napa has a reference for a 4520C, but not for a 4520R. Frustrating. B.

To get something from the local auto parts store, you'll probably have to go the back way, by finding filters on an industrial supplier site like Baldwin or Wix, then finding the common brand equivalent of them that the store would carry.
Neither site would deep link to the specific page, but they do have the relevant filters.

Do NOT cross your hydraulic filter with a Napa. Just did that, and its 100% a restriction, made my pump scream, it was terrible. I just changed it again for the Baldwin cross, and it is fine. I couldnt get my hands on an OEM at the time, but thats the best option.

As far as fuel or engine oil filter, you can cross to anything you like.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered the two filters from Dave's. When I get them I will try and compare them to the other brands. It seems like the hydro filter is the picky one. B.

Just bought oil and filter for 200 hour on mx. Dealer told me because of warranty issues, you must use oem.

That sounds like lawyer talk to me but, i bought 2 gallons of kubota motor oil and their filter, $55.

I did see some guy on u tube cut open a Fram and kubota oil filter and there was a significant difference. Question is, does it make any difference?

I wouldn't take it as lawyer talk. I mean, the brands and the dealers need some insurance that the proper filters and fluids are used.

Who knows what people would throw at the tractor, then it failed and they try to file a warranty claim? Like using the wrong hydraulic oil in tractors with clutch packs or wet brakes, can ruin those in no time.

Over here, and in most countries actually, you can't even service your vehicle (car, truck, tractor, whatever) yourself if it still has warranty, otherwise, warranty is voided.

The service is done at the dealer and the warranty book that comes with the vehicle is signed by the dealer, proving the service was done there.

the only filter on a branson you have to( or should use) an OEM filter for is your transmission hydraulic filter( this goes for both filters if you have HSt transmission)
the reason we tell you guys this and the reason we are told to tell you guys this is for a specific reason and that's due to how the filter is designed, there is a bypass/flowback valve in the bottom of the filter should this filter ever get clogged up the bypass/flow back valve will open allowing hydraulic fluid to flow through the system, if you don't have a filter with this valve in the bottom( as far as i know no one makes this other than Branson if any one knows of a filter brand that does this as well please let me know). it can cause the hydraulic pumps to run dry and damage them or in a worst case scenario completely burn them up.

My lawyer talk comment was, in my case, the kubota parts guy couldnt/wouldn't give me a straight answer. knew he couldn't, i was just messin with him. I asked, what if I use Fram, is the warranty voided. Again, he couldn't give me a simple straight answer.

To me, that's lawyer talk, they plant doubt then leverage it. Not all lawyers.

Well, I would think a manufacturer would have to prove the filter you used caused the damage. It would be a gamble for sure. And could potentially be expensive if you lost. So, is the few dollars in savings on after market filters worth the risk? Prolly not. I just find it annoying that you have to buy your filters from a dealer. B.

I hate that too and I hate knowing I'm getting ripped off. My hydraulic filter is $100 and it's made in China, even though it has the genuine Kubota sticker on it and I bought it at the Kubota dealer. I KNOW this is a rip off but I'm not going to chance putting a non OEM filter for the hydraulic system or the HST system because if there is a problem with those systems it's going to be a very expensive repair.

I guess we can console ourselves with the thought that at least we don't have to change them very often.

I'll just get the OEM ones myself. One less thing to be worried about with possible consequences.

Kubota parts made in China will be the same quality as Kubota parts made anywhere else. Chinese factories make parts to the quality the buyer or owner demands and inspects for. A multinational like Kubota often will set up their own factory and always oversee it so they know it's done to their specs.

But $100! I'll stop complaining about $47 for the Branson hydraulic filter.
