Are your dealers the ONLY place to buy filters and other common maintenance items? JESUS!!!!! You would think there was an online source for all parts tractor. OMG!!! WHY does it have to be so hard!!! Rant over. B.

Just bought oil and filter for 200 hour on mx. Dealer told me because of warranty issues, you must use oem.
That sounds like lawyer talk to me but, i bought 2 gallons of kubota motor oil and their filter, $55.
I did see some guy on u tube cut open a Fram and kubota oil filter and there was a significant difference. Question is, does it make any difference?
I wouldn't take it as lawyer talk. I mean, the brands and the dealers need some insurance that the proper filters and fluids are used.
Who knows what people would throw at the tractor, then it failed and they try to file a warranty claim? Like using the wrong hydraulic oil in tractors with clutch packs or wet brakes, can ruin those in no time.
Over here, and in most countries actually, you can't even service your vehicle (car, truck, tractor, whatever) yourself if it still has warranty, otherwise, warranty is voided.
The service is done at the dealer and the warranty book that comes with the vehicle is signed by the dealer, proving the service was done there.
I hate that too and I hate knowing I'm getting ripped off. My hydraulic filter is $100 and it's made in China, even though it has the genuine Kubota sticker on it and I bought it at the Kubota dealer. I KNOW this is a rip off but I'm not going to chance putting a non OEM filter for the hydraulic system or the HST system because if there is a problem with those systems it's going to be a very expensive repair.
