FEL Snow Blade Build

Hey everyone, I am in the process of building a FEL snow blade. I figured some of you would be interested in the build and the finished product. I will try to take as many pics as possible during my build. I am curently cleaning my laneway with a bucket which kinda sucks but is still fun. Anyway give me your thoughts and suggestions please.:thumbsup:

Making it myself. Looks like you build quite a bit of yours yourself... I try to post pics once I get something worth showing everyone. lol.

No ability to angle it? Wouldn't you want that for plowing snow?

It would be nice to angle it, but to be able to do that I would have to bring the blade out at least 1 foot infront of the loader arms. Iam a little woried about putting sideways pressure on the arms, I don't want to tweak them. I figured this set-up is not any different then using a bucket, so it should'nt put anymore pressure on the arms the the bucket. What do you think???

You will regret not being able to angle your plow.Set up like that is not that much different than just the bucket.

You definitely want to angle it. It will not stress the loader arms that much. I fear you will regret not doing this from the start.

If u don't want to angle it just build a "snow pusher" which is basically an oversized blade with wings.

What your saying is pretty much what I was thinking. I going to start with the blade first and if I dont have any trouble pushing, I will add the side and maybe a top flap or something.

I will see if I can give some advice here without getting jump on again. You need to come up with a way to float the blade. Using the loader float position is no good because the weight of the FEL is to great. Look at how the blades are on the P/U trucks, hooked with a chain so they will float and bounce over obstruction they can not move and ones buried in the snow that they can not see.

Yah I totally get what your saying...If I would be doing unknown territory then I would definitely do what your saying but since I only doing my laneway and maybe a couple of neighbours I decided to make it solid mount. I think a turtle move faster then me when I'm plowing unknown areas.:laughing:

I understand what you are saying but as long as the moldboard or the cutting edge is spring loaded this is a moot point. The same concept applies whether or not it's mounted to FEL arms or to the frame of the tractor. For a "pusher" this won't really apply.

If you are mounting it rigid to the loader I would suggest some hefty skid shoes on the back of the plow. Or if you turn it into a pusher then the sides usually have full length skid shoes.

I run a 7.5' Meyer snow plow on the FEL of my 28HP Jinma. Its power angle via my rear remotes. I can tell you unless you make it a pusher box it will be about worthless having no angle capability.

I run mine strait some times and after a 100' run I may have a wheel barrow full worth of snow at best. With it angle I could move a dump truck load worth in the same run.

I bought some pretty hefty skid shoes that are for a truck plow. I plan on mounting them on my blade.
