Exterior light question

I was wondering if anyone knows the name of the old fashion scalloped lamps that used to hang on barns, garages etc. I would like to find a replica for our barn and I know thay are out there but I don't know what thay are called. I have seen them on fairly new pole buildings in Virginia recently but can't find then back here. Easier on the eyes at night then looking into or at a yard style pole lamp. Any ideas? i think i have what you refer to in my kitchen above the sink but it doesn't have a particular name....i think i got it from Kitchler. i'll try to post a picture later.

there is a company in cleveland oh, that sells all kind of repo stuff called "Hinckley lighting" I think they have some good stuff with ul and all the needed safety items at a reasonable price, we did some work for them, try a search for their web site & start looking

Thanks guys. I saw someone putting up a pole building yesterday and stopped and talked to the foreman on the job. He told me they could get scalloped edged lights but they were over $100.00 from them. He suggestested I go to Lowes and check out thier unscalloped edge lights. Only $30.00 and still around 16" diameter, which is what I wanted. Had I known the name or model number I most likely could have found it on the Lowes/home depot web site.

Hi Kevin. I know Lowes site and Home depot had me crossed eyed. Anyway, this is a Portfolio item # 190830 in Raw Steel Finish. Like I said it is almost 16" in diameter. I think it will look good on the barn and we won't have to look into a buld in a post lamp at night while outside. Hope this helps you, EL.

Bill, thanks for the web site address. We used to live in West Virginia and aat night it wasn't dark...it was black. We'll sit out on the picnic table and turn the post lights off in an effort to reduce as much artificial light as we can so we can see the night sky. Winter nights from the hot tub can be spectacular EL.

Thanks for the info and links. I searched bu product number but it takes me to me local store and says its not carried there. I went through all 84 pages of portfolio lights and nothing. I suspect its regional differences like lumber. I'll keep looking. I've found many barn / gas station style lights but they are very pricey.

Does look good installed.

Gene, thanks for the post and that edge is what I had hoped to find but I wanted it in a "bucket" so to speak shade so I couldn't or have to see the bulb at night. The one I got at lowes is 15.75" across and the depth of the shade hides the bulb.
