Howdy all,
I did a little research on this EWG. Could someone shed some light on this?
I came across a local attorney who has recieved $600K. They don't grow anything there. It's an old farm but all they have are horses for riding. How in **** are they getting a government handout for doing nothing related to farming? These people are the upper end of the food chain and in no way deserve our tax dollars.
Where do I sign up???

What is EWG?

Environtmental Working Group.
Just type EWG into your search engine of choice. The more I look around the more pissed I get. There is more money being given out than we collect in taxes.

I see there are four responses to my post. When I try to view I can only see my initial post. Any ideas?

Wouldn't it be nice if some of you would tell me in a nutshell what it is rather than telling me to look it up when I specifically asked what it is, not where to find information about it?

;)

It's not like its a topic that has been discussed in great detail before on TBN, like HST vs Hydro or R1 vs R4.

The way the questions and answers have been worded, it sounds like you are angry at the EWG, when, in reality, it seems like you are angry at the people the EWG are naming as top beneficiaries of programs that EWG monitors.

As a beneficiary of some state programs for reforestation, I say if it is there, use it. If you don't like the program, tell your governmental representatives why you don't like it and start your own grass roots movement to reform or repeal it.

In the hope that you accept this response in the light-hearted spirit with which it is offered.:)

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

To learn a lesson is a far better reward than to win a prize early in the GAME.

It is better to know how to help yourself than to beg from others.

Edit. BTW, what's this HST, R1, R4 stuff you are talking about.:)

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Unless otherwise exempted, you must have a valid fishing license to fish in public lakes, streams, rivers or tributaries in Indiana
or its boundary waters. A valid trout/salmon stamp also is required to fish for or take trout and salmon from public waters.
License holders must carry their license while fishing and present it upon request to a conservation officer (or any authorized law enforcement official).
There are fines and penalties for fishing without a license. A fishing license may be revoked if the license holder is convicted of violating fish and wildlife regulations.
A person has to have lived in Indiana continuously for 60 days in order to purchase
a resident fishing license. All others are non-residents.
You do not need a license if...
Resident Anglers:
Indiana residents born before April 1, 1943.?br>Resident age 17 and younger. ?br>Residents who are legally blind.?br>Residents of a state-owned mental reha?br>bilitation facility.
Residents of any licensed health care fa?br>cility in Indiana taking part in a supervised fishing activity sponsored by the facility.
Landowners or lessees of farmland, who farm that land, their spouses and children living with them, while fishing in public waters from the farmland they own or lease.
Indiana residents engaged in full- time military service while on approved military leave; the angler must carry leave orders and a valid Indiana driver痴 license or voter registration card.
Non-resident Anglers:
Non-resident age 17 or younger are exempt.
Non-resident military personnel sta?br>tioned in Indiana must obtain a resident license.
Some non-resident landowners, while fishing in public waters from the farmland
they own, according to exemptions their states provide Indiana residents. See fishing.IN.gov or call (317) 232-4200 for details.

Sir:

Angling may be said to be so like the mathematics that it can never be fully learned.

"Wouldn't it be nice if some of you would tell me in a nutshell what it is rather than telling me to look it up when I specifically asked what it is, not where to find information about it?"

It's along the lines of re-inventing the wheel. Either I spend 5 minutes typing an explanation or you type in three letters and hit <enter>.

I Googled EWG and then went to the farm subsidy database and found you can search by county and find the names of everyone in your county who has received subsidies in the last 10 or 15 years and how much and what for.

I was surprised to know so many of the individuals and the amounts they received.

So I meet you in the store and you ask "What do you think of XYZ?" and I ask "What is XYZ?" and you tell me to look it up. Not a real good way to get people interested in your concerns. I'm just sayin'.

I also get tired of being sent to the library when someone uses an unfamiliar acronym.

I don't need to be taught how to fish, or look something up on Google, but if you want me to particiapte in your thread, the least you can do is tell me what it is about.

From the website...

Our research brings to light unsettling facts that you have a right to know. It shames and shakes up polluters and their lobbyists. It rattles politicians and shapes policy. It persuades bureaucracies to rethink science and strengthen regulation. It provides practical information you can use to protect your family and community.

To me it sounds like a couple of guys who have made it their life's work to scare people and/or piss them off... AKA Lobbyists.

Read this post quick because it will likely be deleted or moved to the politics section pretty soon. Maybe that's why no one has defined it in this thread yet.
