Where'd you hear that? Seriously. We want to know.

We have lots of wind farms in my state. I’ve never seen a diesel generator at those locations.

AB&I Foundry had its beginning in the months following the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. At that time, the foundry's primary products were decorative light poles and iron and brass statuary.

When World War II started, AB&I changed its focus and began making submarine net weights and other iron products to assist the war effort.

After WWII, AB&I began making cast iron soil pipe to meet the demands of the housing boom of the late 1940s and early 1950s. Cast iron pipe and fittings remain the foundry's main product line, and AB&I has grown into a major nationwide manufacturer.

The century-old company, which employs 200 workers, many who live in East Oakland, is moving to Texas.

That is a different foundry than I was thinking of.
Same story, though. Industry or service established in unused land. People move in, complain, industry/service has to shut down or leave.

Most manufacturing has left with a few to other parts of California but most out of State.

It’s not just industrial but also industry such as commercial bakeries that would cover the West Coast.

The the Oakland Sports Arena basically shuttered after the departure of the Warriors, Raiders and Athletics there was a news blip about fewer large commercial users to support utility infrastructure…

With so much industry leaving it would appear we have a surplus of electricity.

Maybe it’s just the human condition to go from one crisis to the next?

I'm skeptical that wind turbines have diesel motors. My understanding is that they will self start with wind in the 10 mph range. They may require a small electric input to adjust blade pitch or orientation with the wind, but that is usually supplied by the grid. A farm may have a diesel generator to provide minimal power for black start, but a diesel to start blade rotation seems to be a terrible concept.

I love the smell of bakeries, when I'm out and about. Silly me, I didn't realize that is killing me. So glad the gummint wants to keep me safe, sound, and paying taxes.

There is no diesel engine or diesel generator in the turbine.

A farm may have a diesel generator to provide minimal power for black start, but a diesel to start blade rotation seems to be a terrible concept.

The Scotts wind farm had the grid go down so the turbines could not use electricity from the grid to power the deicing feature. They used a few generators to power the grid until it was repaired, then the turbines could operate normally, without any aid from diesel engine/generator. Disinformation then run wild.

If that’s the case it sure wouldn’t take much to get them spinning. Very brief periods of assist.

AB&I and Tyler Pipe have a large plant on Hwy 69 north of Tyler. Driven by their plant several times. Both owned by McWane. Big enough that they even have their own credit union.
