instead of MS paint try paint.net
Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing
It is a lot more flexible than MS paint you can zoom in to the pixel level and and Zoom isn't fixed at 100,200,300% you can go smaller or in between numbers (125 or 202 or 50%).
I do admit I still am on a learning curve with it but I like it.
