Chain sharpening woes.

I don’t sharpen chains. I replace them. I use maybe 5 a year and my time is too valuable to mess around trying to sharpen chains.

I would be going through that many in a day when I'm doing more than cutting firewood. I may not be the best at sharpening yet if there's one thing I can's stand it's a dull chain... or any other cutting tool.

Yep. I can hand-sharpen a 16" chain almost as fast as I can change the chain. Either way, if it's getting dull, it gets dealt with. If you are continuing to cut on a dull chain, you are wasting time, wasting your own energy, and making things harder on yourself and on your saw.

Plus, I enjoy the break from a day of cutting. I'll notice a dull chain in an instant. It's until I stop and take a break that I notice that I'm getting tired or dehydrated or hungry (all of which are safety issues).

So a 16” 6X’s driver chain takes 3 minutes to sharpen?
