You boys are raising my pulse rate, talking fast cars! I ran the hot 302, and also a well rigged 390. I am a Ford girl, but the 454s could run like a scalded cat. Too bad the carburetor floats sank every 10K miles!

What you talking about girl? the stock Carb was a Holly 780 with vac sec. Much before your time.

My 70 Chevelle SS 454 LS-6 would wipe up the floor with ya. LOLs those were the Day's
Not fair! Big block vs. small block but I wouldn't have backed down. Did lose to my buddy's 454... but I was quicker off the line... I removed the back seats and the power steering unit among other things to lighten the weight. Now i will say the 302 in the 68 camaro with a four speed was also a head thrower! Okay stop! I might have to buy a fixer upper for Sundays. Oops I am supposed to be landscaping and building retaining walls. I am glad the wife isn't reading this.

I am sure it was before my time (I'll be 29 on my next birthday!) , but those 454s the friends ran had carb floats that were made of styrofoam. Every 10K miles, they sank and ran flooded. I think we finally ordered them aftermarket from J C Whitney to get aluminum floats to solve the issue.

I think a good open road drag race would do us all some good, but probably land us all in jail! :D :drink:

Might as well join in... sold my 100% stock, 32,000 mile 68 Z-28 to pay for school...

A guy saw it in Hemmings and flew out to drive it home... red with the white stripes.

Even had the bias ply E15 tires!

Got a little over 6k for it... don't think I want to know what it would be worth today.

4shorts; We'll talk fast cars, until you get ready to show the next mod, then we'll be happy to give you back your thread. :D

I didn't mean to take it "off course" asking about an auto. tranny. But, your thread is always a lot of fun!

You may be right on the carbs. I ran Fords, and just remember that friend's 454 running flooded all of the time, due to the styrofoam float.

And, even YEARS ago, Whitney was the only place to get some parts for a '59 VW bug that I had. Try ordering for that car without looking in every place possible. Besides, as teenagers, sometimes we rodered parts from wherever we could find them and afford them.

It's probably a good thing I am not running a hot car and playing. I'd go broke just with getting ready for Saturday night! :confused2:

Fords ran Holleys too. Whiney is to Car parts as Walmart is to high end shopping.

Yes, I ran Holley 4bbls. Could watch the gas gauge go down, as you leaned on them! Fun days!

And, when you are a kid and just need a part, Whitney filled a niche. At least the Chevy's float wasn't styrofoam, after that!

They filled a lot of trash cans too. Tell me more about Holley's FG. Lols

4shorts; I just noticed: You have an automatic tranny in that thing?!?!?! :stirthepot:

When I was a kid my next door neighbor was a Ford nut. He ran a junk yard but had a ton of Mustangs in various states. I loved his 71 Fastback with the 428 Cobra Jet. But he always said that he would take an automatic any time over a stick for performance. You don't lose the engine rpm during the shifts.

Cool loader knob 4shorts. How do you prevent it from rotating?

I want a pair of those muffs when I get my zero turn. Do they work well? I'm very interested in hook them to my iPhone!

Is that just for her or is that offer good for any of us? ;-)

OMG no. I couldn't do that to the rest of you. Farmgil is a Deere gal and a past Mustang owner. Now you are a sub compact tractor owner and also a Kubota owner so I have the machine for you if you visit. No. no need to thank me either

There's three set screws under the collar to prevent it from turning. I really did that mod for a buddy of mine that love guns and bullets so when he drops by to see it and If he likes it I'll give it to him :)
The muffs work great but on the ZTR I still get a lot of Drone from the blades but they are perfect on the BX.

Before work this morning I serviced the ZTR. Changed the oil, filter and greased. When I went to sharpen the blades I found a pile of grass stuck to the deck. goes to show, you should mulch when the grass is damp or even wet

Nice Mustang and thanks for the pics. I own a 2010 Challenger and if I didn't own it, I'd have a Mustang.

I'm putting good money on the fact 4shorts Mustang would beat almost all of the older cars. I've owned a couple of older cars including a 70 6bbl Road Runner and my 2010 Challenger would beat almost all of them. I've ran both the old stuff and the new stuff at the drag races. Its also tough to beat the traction the newer cars have also.

Man it's so funny you said that because I said the same about the Challenger. Honest. I love the look of them and they look truer to the orginal ones.
Would love to see a photo of yours. :cool2:
