BX23 Toothbar

Anyone know where I can get a FEL toothbar for a BX23. The standard ones are 48" ID on the BX bucket is 46 3/8 ID. I know I could cut and weld, but I'd like one that fits correctly.

Bought mine from the dealer . Could have ordered it online and spent less, but needed it right away. I think oour buckts are the same. Standard 48" bucket will fit.

Also you can measure yours and have one custom made with as many teeth as you want.

I bought a BX2350 a year ago. Last fall I ordered a tooth bar from Markham Welding. There have been any number of threads on TBN on tooth bars (in general) and Markham (in particular).

Markham asks for one measurement. They then send you a tooth bar made to fit your particular loader. Simple. Mine is so over-built something else will give before the tooth bar will. I am more than satisfied.

I think it was $345...higher for sure than I could order one online. But, like I said, I needed one that particular weekend.

I like the WR Long flat toothbar. You can back drag without leaving tooth marks or using the heel of the bucket.

Sorry, did not mean it that way. The one my dealer sells just happened to be a WR Long flat toothbar!! It is the one I would have ordered anyways, just a bit higher in price.

Can't go wrong with Markham. I bought one for my 7510 and use it all the time. They are great people to deal with and a great custom product, that is reasonably priced and quickly delivered.

I have a Markham bar on my BX 23. I love the bar, but I had to do a little grinding to get it to fit the inside of my bucket. I did measure the inside of the bucket, and provided that to them; I'm not sure why it didn't fit right out of the box...

To be fair, I did not call Markham to get it rectified. I just commenced grinding. Maybe they would have sent me a different bar that fit better; I never gave them the chance. I needed the bar that weekend, and was unwilling to wait.

Also, when you get a bar, contact me. I'll give you a pointer or two on how to mount it, based on my mistakes...

Having said all that, I love the toothbar. The tractor will bend before the bar does, for sure...

Search the 2 Kubota forums for "BX" together with "toothbar". You will find many hundreds of posts on this in the archives. It has been discussed to death.

My Markham for BX2200 was only $150and I love it. Markham will give you the best customer svc. that you could ever imagine.

Thanks guys. Contacted Markham, very responsive and a very fair price.

All kinds of stuff just broke around the house. So once I recover from all of that, I'm going to order one from them.

BTW drill the holes in the loader in the front of the slot so you can loosen bolt and pull forward and flip in to bucket for flat edge.

Ok Pat, the toothbar showed up today...Holy cow! It looks well made.

What tips do you have before I start drilling like a knuckle dragging neanderthal.

As Tom had said, the bolts would be better in the front of the slot to allow it to be flipped into the bucket for smooth back dragging. Does that cause the bar to get loose though?

Anybody have any pictures of theirs?

The Markham tooth bar on the BX WIKI section is mine...
I didn't care about flipping the tooth bar up...when I don't want to use it I'll simply remove it.

tommu56 nailed what I was going to recommend. I didn't think about flipping it up before I drilled the holes in the bucket, so I drilled the holes at the back of the slot, thinking the bar needed to be on tight...

In hindsight, I haven't really found myself needing to flip it up, but I hate locking myself out of options because I was dumb...

When you are driving forward, the side bolts probably serve no real purpose, as the toothbar slips over the leading edge of the bucket. But if you backdrag at all, or rake backwards, as I sometimes do when clearing brush, I would think those bolts would have to be pretty snug, so maybe having them at the back of the slot prevents the bar from being pulled off the bucket edge.

Does that make sense what I'm saying?

Let me know how it fit out of the box, out of curiosity...

That was my thought on the bolts. Mine is 1/2 inch narrower than the ID of the bucket. I thought that it was supposed to be 1/4 shorter. Need to make up a pretty big gap. Dont want to stress anything, bending or cracking the bucket..If I use washers, that will stress the bolts, unless there isn't any stress on them..Can't tell yet.
